This video is top of the line into the world of Intel . It's nice to know that there is human interaction in the work that they do & humidity it . All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy . Thanks for posting .
At 6:45 Tim mentions "meaconing. I remember reading or hearring that "Meaconing" (Miminc bEACONING) was a dirty trick the Soviets used to draw the RB-47 recon version of the B-47 bombers that used to fly SIGINT along the Barents Sea over the northern part of the USSR, to draw them into Soviet airspace and shoot them down. You did a great episode on the RB-47 shootdown a while back. Maybe that dirty Soviet trick of meaconing was mentioned on that ep, I cannot recall.
Brilliant, thank you. Nice to know comical mishaps occur in all lines of work, no matter how serious or trivial that work is. One thing I'd love to know concerning the cleaning story. Did she get to see the Big Board?!
This was really interesting and entertaining, I liked his story about kidding the locals telling them that the tackle they were using was a massive electromagnet that would drag the nuclear missiles into Britain to stop America from being bombed! I reckon the local MP was getting a few angry , confusing letters from his constituents that week haha
That was great. Lesson learnt hopefully. Ask me no questions.... Great idea btw. A giant electromagnet was just about the only thing that Dick Dastardly and Vulture Squadron didn't try.
Firstly thanks for listening! It's not uncommon for guests to get dates wrong and my apologies for the error here. There were groups in Poland before Solidarity in the second part of the 1970s who began to form underground networks to monitor and oppose the government's behaviour.
These conversations are very interesting to me as I served in Europe during the cold war. Regarding the Iran hostage rescue mission - I have heard reports that information was leaked regarding the mission by a Pentagon employee. Is there anything known to confirm that report?
The guest should write a book, I'd be first in line to purchase it.
Wow! Talk about insider information, I feel privileged to be able to listen to this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, very interesting. I'm happy that this came into my recommendations.

I was stationed in Mannheim 87-89. Thanks for your channel, it really takes me back. I am hereby SUBBED!
My pleasure. Glad to hear you are enjoying the episodes.
Thank you this was fascinating

There are some who call him....... Tim.
23:35 - Solidarity movement started in Aug 1980, not in 1979.

Never mind the date please. The story itself was so fascinating nevertheless.@@ColdWarConversations
