But can you connect your display over Displayport and a Dolby Atmos soundbar over HDMI and make it work? Because HDMI 2.0b on ASUS PA32UCX display doesn't have enough bandwidth to process 4k60 FPS 10bit 4:4:4, so I have to use Displayport for 4k60 FPS 10bit 4:4:4.

Hi, have a problem with connection. I've connected soundbar via HDMI to PC, but soundbar is not visible sound control panel. I tried to connect it via HDMI port on motherboard and also graphic card (Radeon RX7800XT). I see there only monitor (the first option in your list), but nothing else what is connected via HDMI. Any idea why can not see it?

Not sure if I'm getting Atmos from my PC with my setup. This is it:
    > Soundbar's eArc connected to TV's eArc (Samsung HW-Q990B)
    > PC RTX 3080 Ti's HDMI 2.1 port connected to TV's HDMI 2.0 port (I have 4 HDMI 2.0 ports on my TV, 1 of which has eArc).
I feel like it does work, but it's kinda hard to tell. It does say that Atmos is enabled when I use my TV as the source (which could be because it's also Atmos-capable... doesn't really matter that Atmos with just TV speakers doesn't really work). With the 7.1 testvideo the top sounds do come from the upfiring speakers, though the 'from above' sounds do seem somewhat limited from that video. But with that demo video of sounds going all around you and whatnot I can the 'from above' sounds pretty clearly. Still, I dunno if it's placebo or if it actually works properly with the setup.

Thanks for this video. If you're still using W11 + soundbar can you tell me what you have in the W11 sound settings menu for Format, Audio Enhancement and Spatial Sound? You can find this by selecting your sound source from Output, which brings you to System>Sound>Properties. I have those 3 as Dolby Atmos, Device Default Effects and Dolby Atmos. Wondering if there is some overkill here. Thanks

      1. used 1 hdmi cable to connect PC's graphic card hdmi port to any hdmi port on tv. (Dont use eArc or Arc just a normal hdmi port)
      2. used another hdmi cable to connect Another PC's graphic card hdmi port to the soundbar where it says HDMI INPUT (basically my graphic card has 2 hdmi ports and most will have 2 like me)
      3. used the remote controller for soundbar to change ARC to HDMI4 (for me HDMI4 was the cable that directly connect between the graphic card and the soundbar)
      4. Check it again then you will see "Dolby Atmost for Home Theater"

Thanks Man! 😊 What was the reason you got the Arcana? The Samsung Q950a has an HDMI input which would do away with the need for the Arcana. You would plug the projector into the HDMI Out (eARC) port and your media player such as an Apple TV or Nvidia shield etc into the HDMI IN. The Arcana is more for those that have a Sonos ARC or Bose 900 that doesn’t have an HDMI IN.

Can't get it to work. I never get surround sound with this Dolby Access app. Even with Channel Upmixer off, the TV detects and show me it's getting a DOLBY DIGITAL signal, but the sound stays stereo anyway. Playing videos with ATMOS keeps the setup in stereo mode. I tried tweaking stuff the settings like shown but clicking on the read speakers for example only confirm it's still in stereo. The only way I get my setup to have each individual speakers to have their own stream and sound in surround mode is selecting Speaker Setup 7.1 in windows right click on the volume speaker. Then I get a real surround setup and it plays my ATMOS videos correctly (though it's not detected as such by my TV). Even better, to get it to play your video with ATMOS audio you need to setup your video player to passthrough the Audio without decoding it (and your TV as well in passthrough). In VLC for instance you go into settings /audio / Audio HDMI/SPDIF "passthrough" => Enable. Once you have this activated, you get your audio hardware to detects the ATMOS audio of your video stream and decode it itself. If passthrough is not active your computer decodes the audio via your player before sending it to your soundbar in PCM I believe). So that's how you can play your Atmos audio/videos without even using the Atmos app. (if your sound system is compatible with it of course)

For ripped movies or tv shows it's a bit more complicated, I think Kodi can do audio passthrough and send the audio signal directly without any need for licence in the app.

You can run a HDMI cable from GPU directly into your soundbar in the HDMI In port. If you only have 1 HDMI port on your GPU, you can enable the onboard HDMI port and use that. Otherwise, just use displayport for your monitor and HDMI for the sound.. However, if you want to use HDMI 2.1 for the extra bandwidth plug that into your TV or monitor (if supports HDMI 2.1) such as the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD which includes 2x HDMI 2.1 ports which makes HDR and refresh rate a bit better..
Annoyingly, you still have to use extended desktop.. Make the soundbar or audio device the 2nd display and drag it where hard to click into. Then have the GPU HDMI cable plugged into your monitor/TV.
This gives you all the Dolby Atmos features, MAT 2.0, 2.1 and 8 channels at least.

Sorry calling bullshit on this it's anything but easy unless you eschew a traditional computer monitor for a smart TV with eARC. Any other configuration is difficult because of a lack of support for regular HDMI and nothing for Bluetooth will work.

Step 1: Have a tv (which majority of PC gamers do not have since TV's are inferior in every way)
