He’s so salty. Maybe because alex climb el cap without ropes. And tommy wont be as good as Alex will become in the next 5-7 years. Don’t get me wrong Tommy is unreal. But you can’t tell me he’s not salty
Blake Martin I know they are buddies. I can sense saltyness in every video interview where tommy talks about Alex. I like tommy a lot. He’s the shit. He’s funny af. But comes off sal to me
This completely breaks the grindy travelog paradigm that climbing videos usually lull me to boredom with, I love it, and the gossipy tone about the shortcomings of the best in the world is great, makes me feel like part of the crew, and like you WANT to be part of the crew.
Brilliant film! Always love the humorous banter. Gives it more of real and personal feel. It's refreshing seeing a filmmaker marrying the visuals to the soundtrack with clever cuts and ramps. Well done!
I have been training consistently since I was 50 and at 53 really starting to get it cycling ,running ,swimming, etc I actually love it ,I am not super fast ,but I keep getting injuries when running ,I want to run a marathon when I am 60 under 4 hours czn I do a lot of training cycling and swimming
Beautiful mini-documentary. The story is well told and edited. Excellent visuals. It's enlightening to see how Alex and Jonathan work so well together to get Alex where he needs to be.
I find it really motivating to see the sort of training that goes into these crazy feats that push the sport forward. It's the more mundane everyday diligence that really sets these guys apart.
4:07. Belaying glasses? Yes! These were finally invented? As a 48 yr old ex-climber with a serious case of "belayers neck", I would've definitely owned a pair of these if they existed back in my day!!!
Alex is a beast and im happy for him achieving his goal and making history but God i hope he never free solos again and just lives and enjoys his achievements instead.
loved everything about this video but you totally omitted Jonathan's training... how did he strengthen his biceps for Jumbo Love? Seems like unequal training coverage.
Does anyone know if there is a video of the rout Alex took on el cap ? Would love to see it , the movie didn’t show all the At much of the climb . .. or did it ?
I would love to give this a try been doing alot of upper body workout for years and now ive started actually doing handstand pushups so lookin for the next level of progression which is this
Question for the climbers... ( I am not one ) When climbing a new rock wall, how do you know and trust the hardware that has previously been installed, is structurally sound? I mean, it's your life, and if one comes out of the wall during a fall, that's prolly not good right?
Just goes to show the difference between someone like Honnold and Ondra. Honnold has insane mental capacity, and Ondra insane physical (of course they’re both strong in each, but that’s where they excel).
Have you never seen belay glasses? They make you see about 90 degrees up. No more looking up, no more neck pain! I never go sport climbing without them, best purchase I made in my climbing life!
I love Tommy just talking smack the whole time lol
Cowboydjrobot tommy is a legend in the climbing community. Much respect. Guy is a beast.

@@blakecannon6963 you know they are close friends and tommy was there for that send. He is being honest and honnold would agree.

nah man they are super close. that's just buddies giving each other shit. sarcasm at its finest. but it is love

Tommy's just in there stirring the pot.
DCassidy42 😂😂😂
I am simple dude. I see Honnold and Siegrist (or any famous climber for that matter), I hit like button.

Leaving the comfort zone, that's my target from now on! Thank you
This is going to go down as a classic Sportiva film ! Great stuff

Beautiful mini-documentary. The story is well told and edited. Excellent visuals. It's enlightening to see how Alex and Jonathan work so well together to get Alex where he needs to be.
I love the smack talk between them, and how they help each other. Epic video!! :)
Tommy, Kevin, and Alex are the perfect trio😂💪🏼👍🏼
Max Masteller I know but they are a pretty good Trio
The dude never looks like he's exerting himself! He looks totally passive at all times
I enjoy people that embrace a positive lifestyle. The passion
“There’s no bad holds, which is kind of my jam”..me too
I find it really motivating to see the sort of training that goes into these crazy feats that push the sport forward. It's the more mundane everyday diligence that really sets these guys apart.
Don't forget the sponsorships that allow them to maintain that lifestyle
Absolutely the most hilarious rock climbing video yet.
Love all of Tommys comments!! Hahahaha.
Haha the subtle troll. You wouldn't even notice if you didn't follow climbing media. My favorite was when he called siegrist a slab climber.
@@jasonringenberg8571 ''never saw anything else from him'' smh :D
I love how he's purely in the video to rag on them. He's that mate.
That shit at the end. 😂 😂
Tommy is insane on his level. Unreal and much respect.
Alex seems like a totally different person when he is free soloing. He looks like he's going to sleep at any moment during a lead climb.
Tommy Caldwell is freaking awesome. He has always been a hero to me.

Song “whispering” Jxs4 6:55
4:40 Honnold gruts...
sniff I came here to say this, Honnold actually GRUNTED!!!! Who knew that was actually possible
Tommy Caldwell - comfort zone: everything.
Alex is a beast and im happy for him achieving his goal and making history but God i hope he never free solos again and just lives and enjoys his achievements instead.
If anyone want to know the song that starts around 6:45 its: Whispering from asura
Thank you!! I’ve been looking for hours 😂
I don’t climb and I’ve only ever had a couple of little goes. However there’s something amazing about watching people climb such epic rocks!!
Beasts, all of them. 💪
Great editing and choice of music!
It’s great to see and hear Alex try hard cuz he never looks like he’s ever trying that hard.
Always cool to see legends are mortals. Keep on wailing dudes
Great climbing ! Right on Jonathan !
Music and editing in this vid are great
But have you seen him crimp? He crimps like a KITTEN.
Naren Srinivasan It means Alex used to be as weak and helpless as baby cat.
Joking.
Kittens are weak, but they can climb a curtain like no one's business. Know what I mean? Me either.
Wolfe M
ya cause free climbing Rostrum, Astroman, and el Captain means youre doing better right?? lol go back to mommy's basement.
@@davidv7901 tommy caldwell free climbed the dawn wall! hes the best big wall climber ever
The song @6:50 is Asura - Whispering through
Thanks
"I feel strong or that's really soft" - me every session
very good music !!
bangagolf was just scrolling to see if they mention the choons! Great songs
Seems almost too simple, but these are good life lessons. Good work all round 👊🏻
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
I watched The Dawn WAll and Free Solo and I am scared and that's okay.
Does anyone know the name of the pinch training equipment at 2:53
Omg I wanna know too! Did you ever find out?
Ya same
www.ironmind-store.com/Titans-Telegraph-Key153-I/productinfo/1243/ You're welcome.
Totally not the point of the video but onions are toxic to dogs. Don't feed dogs onions!
You're totally right! But don't worry, it was actually a little piece of Bok Choy stem (not Onion). Rest assured, Zeke eats better than most humans!
Tara Kerzhner 🍗🍗🍗
Tara Kerzhner nailed it, bok choy
I'll never forget that
And your fingers don’t have any muscles in them.
They are “remote controlled” via tendons in the forearm and palm.
Genial saludos desde Ecuador
What a flex for tommy, "comfort zone, everything"
Tommy is the best part of the whole video haha
Tommy es un tío genial con las piedras grandes. me gusta su estilo.
I love red rock climbing center! Trained their on vacation!
Love the video. Thanks!
Asura - whispering through / for those wondering the song at the start of Bone Tomahawk
Thanks
Ok, I learnt onions are toxic to dogs
Haha
Ok.
To humans also actually, they are medicine, not meant as a food
Yeah but it was a peace of colaflower
I was going to mention this but figured some internet douche bag would have said to piss off
heard ur enormo today it was dope. is my fav climbing video. thanks.
I'm new to climbing and I didn't know what they were talking about half the time haha

5:15 I love how he casually gives his dog onions, they're toxic to dogs. 10/10.
It's not an onion.
What is that piece of exercise equipment that Alex is using to help his crimping hand strength(2:53)? It has weights on it. Thank you
Geez these guys have vise grip hands and fingers full body weight training impressive.
2:59 has an iPhone charging brick on there. Must be the iGrip.
loved everything about this video but you totally omitted Jonathan's training... how did he strengthen his biceps for Jumbo Love? Seems like unequal training coverage.
As a coach I was swallowing every single bit of training they showed! Why to hold chest when lifting weight above head? I want that pinching machine!
Someone has to call out the song at 7:35

Smart move a thumb nail of Alex and I click
His training is now, complete..
Nice, I have the exact same running shoes as Alex Honnold

@4:07 - glasses> what are these? thanks in advance
His slight digs at bouldering make this entertaining. Awkward moves that prepare you for actual climbing hahah
what's the song when Jonathan Siegrist is trying "Bone Tomahawk" for the last time in the video???
Darude - "Sandstorm"

They are airbags. If he falls, they inflate right before his head smashes into a rock.
5:45 why are his foot nails black? i've seen other climbers with black nails
Climbers usually wear very small shoes for perfect stability, i feel like this could be the reason
he paints them because he feels like it.
