I’d love to see a video full of go to meals. Things you make for dinner, what you pack the kids for lunch. You test so many recipes I’m curious what you’ve continued to make.
I agree with the one comment about trying small businesses from Etsy or something! They make such cute gadgets so it’d be nice to see if some actually work
Can confirm the plants spikes work. Have used them for a long time. But the best thing I’ve done for my plants is get a fish tank, I use the water after I clean it to water my plants. They have never looked better
Rachel thank you for reminding people it's more about function than looks when it comes to organising your fridge and things like that 💛 people are always disappointed when their fridge doesn't look like the ones on tiktok but it's just not practical for everyone.. Always love your testing videos 😁💛
I think the idea of it having fourteen is so you can rotate them out. I know when I buy a new carton of eggs I haven't always used the previous one completely
I actually own this and you’re totally right, I buy eggs when i still have a couple left so it’s nice that it fits 14. Also, this fits my fridge perfectly so any longer wouldn’t have worked, so i do think Rachel’s fridge is deeper than others
About your plant (the Palm especially) : it needs a bigger pot and less water (maybe a bit more often). The palm stores water in its trunk and can therefore easily get to much of it❤
Another thing that might help with the plants is watering them more at a time. Overwatering is less about how much water you give, and more about how often you water them. Even for my desert plants (lithops, cactus) I make sure they get thorougly saturated when they get watered. They just only get watered a few times a year. You're right about your big plant (It looks like a dracaena) needing lots of light, and that golden pothos (I think) on the counter being nearly indestructible. Anyway, thank you for another great video, and testing all these products so we don't have to!
Yes! You need to take them out of their cute containers and water them until they are completely soaked, water draining through, plant pot feels heavy. If they sit in their decorative pots with stagnant water they will get root rot but also only part watering the soil is bad for them too. I have 40 plants in the house and watering and feeding day take me well over an hour but totally worth it!!
The egg container is great because it has a flat cover so you can put things on top of it without worrying about breaking eggs. There’s also 14 slots instead of 12 to gives you space to put new eggs before you run out. Something I really like to use in the fridge is a lazy susan so I don’t have to take a bunch of stuff out of the fridge just to get to the stuff in the back.
I have that 14-egg holder and I love it. I buy a new dozen eggs when I only have two eggs left (which I move to the front to be used first), and then I never have to have two egg cartons in the fridge. I like that it's clear and I can easily see how many eggs remain, because the eggs I buy come in opaque packaging.
I was coming to say something similar for why it is a 14 egg holder. They also make an 18-ish egg holder if you want a bigger one. We are a family of 5 and we keep 2 14-egg holders in our fridge.
KEY IDENTIFIERS: An easy and fun way to do this is to use nail polish to color code keys. Paint or dip them. To make the color last, prep with sandpaper first and then wipe with nail polish remover to clean off residue and oils. Top with a clear coat or sealant. Nail wraps are even an option.
YES! I used to be a teacher, and I was handed several keys to various doors, closets, cabinets, etc. when I first started. I needed a way to identify which was which, so I used nail polish and it was quite easy to remove once I changed classrooms. Definitely recommend!!
I used nail polish and painted a design on my keys (a Hello Kitty to be exact) and sealed it with a few layers of top coat. It was funny to see people's faces when they asked to borrow my key (it was an office key), but I never lost it and it always got returned back to me!!
Your plants may need to be repotted which is a pain but it works. They get “root bound”. Also, the more tropical plants need to go outside in the Summer when the low temp is around 70 degrees. I always put my ficus outside, my aloe and succulents.
My favorite "pull" chopper is definitely the Tupperware brand one! They have 2 sizes and both are fantastic! I love it so much I have 2 of the smaller ones!
i really appreciate your content. as a single mom i have to be pretty choosey with where my money goes and i dont have the funds to waste on a sub par product. i appreciate your genuine input and you have always given spot on recommendations. ive found some holy grail kitchen, home and beauty products. i just always look forward to your content you brighten my day.
They have those multi blade scissors for herbs... but I find just regular scissors easier to use and clean. Snip snip snip those green onions right over the food!
Anybody who does inventory ordering knows… the 14 is because you repurchase before you’re out, but you don’t want to buy when you have too much left, so you buy when you’re down to two - so the holder holds a dozen plus the two!
I need to clean out my frig too. The only problem I’ve found with having bins in your frig is that they take up so much room that can be taken up by food items. Especially if you have a big family and you need the extra space for food items. I can see having one or two for loose items but if it’s something that can stand up on it’s own then a bid just takes up valuable space. Besides, I don’t care if my frig looks pretty on the inside. It’s for food and it won’t stay pretty for long with kids in the house. Just maintaining some kind of order is the best thing to do😉 But to each his own🤷🏼♀️
My SIL swears by the dissolvable labels. She makes jams and salsas every year and they’re way more convenient because she doesn’t have to scrape the jars before reusing them. As for the MG plant spikes, they’ve been around for over 35 years. The original patent for fertilizer in a spike is from 1972. (Yes, I went down a rabbit hole.) I remember using the Miracle Gro ones in our house plants before Mom moved to South Africa to get remarried and that was in 1987. They work great. I think they even make them in different formulas for different plant types. Another trick is to put your used coffee grounds in your planters. I learned that trick from one of our former CBS affiliate’s meteorologists who’s also a master gardener.
The Tupperware brand chopper is amazing! You just have to watch to not over chop. Only a few pulls does the trick. I do love your fridge organizing. I learned a few years ago to take the produce drawers out for more shelf space. I will never go back to the drawers.
Can I recommend a Lazy Susan in the fridge? They're really great for condiments and leftovers when you don't want to stack stuff behind other stuff for fear of accidental science experiments. You should also Gadget Test Souper Cubes if you haven't already. They come in tons of sizes and they're great for freezing left overs or batch cooking... one way that Christopher might love is if he wants to make infused butters. They have a small one specifically for infused butters/bullions/etc.
Yes, lazy susans are a great idea. They work great in your fridge, also keep my seasonings in a double decker one on the counter and have one under my sink.
Storing eggs is best to do in a rectangular a bit higher box. I find that those egg boxes where you put each egg separately take away so much fridge storage. I have a plastic box, that exactly fits with to to my fridge shelf. I just stack all my eggs to that vertical box, and it saves half of the shelf space.
I use the nail polish key trick. I take it a step further and try and coordinate colors with the words ex bottom lock is blue, mailbox is maroon, Sally’s house is silver. I also recommend using your favorite color(s) (mine is purple) on the most-used key. You can also use the same base color for different locations (front door green, side door pink, etc) and add sparkles overtop on the first lock for each. It’s all about figuring out how your brain will remember. And don’t splurge on fancy polishes here. Dollar tree base colors, sparkles, and top coats all the way!
I’m not sure if you guys have the same thing there but here in Spain you can go to the hardware store to get colored key copies! The entire key is another color and it doesn’t chip or scratch. I always have different color keys for everything because I hate shuffling between keys and they actually look cute Hugs! Love your channel 💚
The best trick for keys is nail polish 😁 you always have an old one that you can use for this...😉 Watching you organise your fridge reminds me tetris 😂 and feel the same with groceries stuff in my car 😁
I don't know if you have tried this, but I think making candies from Charlie and the chocolate factorie, the movie, would be fun!! Super big fan of your videos 😊❤
I will never go back to anything else. This gadget is the best!14-in-1 Vegetable Chopper Multifunctional Kitchen Onion Mincer Cutter Peeler Gadgets with Container and Drain Basket Vegetable Veggie Choppers and Dicers
I think your big plant might need to move to a larger pot. It could be root bound and could be attributing to the reduced growth. Loved the video! Spring yay!
I have the starfrit pullcord chopper and really like it. I mostly use it for chopping onions when I am making things like pickles or large batches of tomato sauce for canning.
Best thing I ever did was take all the sauces/condiments out of the selves and put them all in a drawer ! Makes it easier to see what’s what for me and keeps them all in the same place.
I have a small “pull to chop” processor and I love using it for garlic, onions, chocolate chunks, nuts. I got it at a thrift store for $3. We love it because we don’t like cleaning the big food processor if we can avoid it. My little chopper MINCED an entire bulb of garlic almost to paste which was great for the Alfredo sauce and garlic bread. No one likes chunky Alfredo 😅.mine is “chef’n “ brand and it’s green and white
Nooo I love my chopper! It is so much faster and easier than chopping by hand or using a motorized chopper. I think it just takes a minute to learn how many time to pull the string to get the right chunk size. I can use mine to get a rough chop and an extremely fine chop (like almost a paste). Also try picking it up and shaking it around while pulling so you get an even chop. I SWEAR by mine, you should try it again! I use the EPARE Mini Vegetable Chopper!
Ninja makes a fantastic little chopper. I got it free with my pans but I think they sell it separately. We’ve gone through a bunch of chopping type gadgets as well and the ninja chopper is the only one we use regularly.
A lot of the time I will have about 2 eggs left and go get more eggs so this allows me to not run out. I get my eggs from someone with chickens so they love if I bring back the carton. we just keep refilling as needed. I would also avoid writing on the keys what they are for in case of lost keys.
I've been using those Miracle Gro spikes or Miracle that you mix with water for 40 yrs. 🤷♀️ You can't OVERLOAD the chopper! 😫 It works GREAT if you give blades room to turn! Just empty & add more as it chops...
For the chopper thing: I have the original Tupperware one and yes, it's pricey and mlm BUT I've had it for 15 years, I cook a lot and never had to sharpen it even. Uniform pieces and also chops nuts (I know not relevant to you but it does hard things 🤣). I don't work for Tupperware, lot of their stuff isn't that much better than cheaper brands but that one thing: absolutely 100% yes
Love all your content. You make anything you do fun to watch and always make me smile. I love my Saturdays with Rach! ❤ I have quick tip for keeping eggs fresh longer, if that is ever a problem. My sister was in culinary school and they took a trip to a farm. The farmer said that keeping eggs small end pointed down will keep the yolk more centered and the eggs fresh longer. Just a fun tip I thought I'd share. 😊
I’ve got those same fridge organizers. Do not put them in the dishwasher! My husband put the egg one in the top shelf of the dishwasher and it came out warped. It’s still useable but the sides cave in a bit. They are great though to hold small condiments, soda cans, etc.
The thingy that shreds onions is literally in a lot of German households. You can get a whole onion in there, you just have to pull aggressively on the handle. And if you want the onion to be in tiny pieces, you need to pull a couple of times.
Abou the red chopper, it works well fo my family as we have been using similar to like for years. It cuts well and uniform if you want finely chopped veggies you have to cut them roughly before you put in it. And you have to pull swiftly or some time.
I don't know if it's a thing in Canada but, in the US, there are things called "novelty key blanks" or "fashion key blanks" which you can get cut into almost any key! In *the before times*, I was a dog walker. So, I had keys to multiple houses. I didn't want to put people's names or addresses on the keys, for safety, so each key got a different design! It made it very easy to tell the difference between the hot pink key and the navy blue key, ya know? 😄And, if you can find coloured aluminium blanks, they're light weight as well!
I have two sized of that pull string chopper. I use the small one for garlic etc... and the larger one for onions and peppers, etc... I LOVE them! You can only put in a certain amount at a time and have to "pre-chop" them which seems to defeat the purpose, but for me, I still LOVE them! Just me?
We have another type of chopper and it’s actually really good, I’m pretty sure it’s because of the blade we have a different one and it chops the onions and the green peppers really small and perfect.😊
Haha I am laughing so mutch now. You are so sweet and all around the place in this video 😂 A small tip is to organize everything on the bench before putting it in the fridge 😂👌🏻 fun tho
I’d love to see a video full of go to meals. Things you make for dinner, what you pack the kids for lunch.

Fish poop is the BEST plant water!
And if you don't have fish.. then fish emulsion! But man does it stink

I bet the first herb cutter would be good for cutting pastry strips, homemade pasta or really any kind of soft dough consistency 😋

The pulley thing works GREAT with nuts or to make cookie crumbs and things like that. I think the key is dry things and not overfill.
And garlic! 😊
I’m really going to need that pasta recipe because I LOVE parsley 🤩🤩🤩
