I had fond memories of playing the og crazy racing kartrider back in the 2000's. It sucks seeing the game like this, especially since I just remembered about Drift and downloaded it on Steam last night. Not a big fan of these changes like you said, it's clearly out dated and shouldn't be added. I can just make a Taiwan account, but is it really worth going through the trouble if Nexon is treating its players like this?
It's a good thing you downloaded KartRider: Drift on Steam now because Nexon is disabling KRD game downloads for new players starting on August 28, 2024. Nexon is definitely not reversing their decision and is definitely permanently shutting down KartRider: Drift if they are preventing new players from playing the game. I would only recommend making a Nexon Taiwan account if you absolutely love playing any kind of KartRider game and if you are a dedicated KartRider fan. If you are not a dedicated KartRider fan and if KartRider: Drift is just another racing game (like I am), then I would recommend just moving on like I am. Many other racing games out there to play like NFS Unbound, Forza Horizon 5, Mario Kart 8, and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled for examples. And better games in general are out there.
seem the right time to rip some asset kart from this game, turn into Blend file, than slap it to Godot game Engine and make own Private server Kart Rider (drift and origin) gonna be tough tho smssshhhhh.
This would be great for video game preservation! 👍 Unfortunately, I don't think it will gain popularity and traction though when the official Korean and Taiwanese servers will still be playable with official content updates by the official devs.
@@jonytheswiftie seem you right, nah it's for personal use tho, not for public, when it ready, I'll make the private server for it, with different mechanism, seems fun if it had part upgrade realism on it with real physic to beeing implemented ^^ and changing some of bodykit element on original kart rider, would be awsome ^^
I just tried Kart Rider Drift a few weeks ago and it was pretty fun and did have players. It's sad that they would just kill this game globally. The "StopKillingGames" movement needs support
It's a good thing you tried KartRider: Drift a few weeks ago because Nexon disabled game downloads for new players just last week. So now the game is definitely not getting any more new players. I argue that KartRider: Drift didn't really have that many players playing despite it being a free-to-play game. Item mode was playable, but Speed mode (which was the game's specialty) was dead. The game just wasn't popular in the NA / EU regions and it didn't help that Nexon didn't properly marketed this game in the west. People in the NA / EU regions would rather play Mario Kart 8, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, and Disney Speedstorm (although I don't recommend this) over KartRider: Drift. Only Koreans and Taiwanese people play KartRider: Drift as KartRider is more well-known over those regions. KartRider: Drift is another victim of game publishers killing games and the "StopKillingGames" campaign does need more support. Unfortunately for KartRider: Drift's case, the game is so tiny that not a lot of people will care that KRD is gonna cease to exist compared to a big game like The Crew 1 permanently shutting down back in March 2024 (there was a big upset among the TC1 community and the internet in general that TC1 got permanently shut down). I also played The Crew 1 too and I lost that game as well this year. In fact, I lost multiple games this year due to their servers permanently shutting down.
Yep, the original KartRider in China (also known as Popkart) is the only original version that's still playable right now. And it somehow managed to outlive global KartRider: Drift servers.🗿
🫡 I am surprised that KartRider: Drift is gonna live to see 2025 though. I thought the game was gonna shut down in 1 month or 3 months and not live to see 2025.
