It appeared the guard pull was in an effort to avoid a takedown though. However, the leg lock attempt was more impressive. Scoring wise Ffion won. But the takedown is a little overrated.
@kaiseramadeus233 I've always found the absolute best are like chess masters, they don't need kinetic explosions of energy or spite at all, its ridiculously smooth and even, opponents spazzing out just screams panic to me.
I really think they should do non gi bjj because non gi means you actually have to know holds etc. Most times when you start out you don't even train with a gi and I have always found it more exciting and technical as the lapel just enables what I consider cheating hahaha...use skill not lapel
@@staylucky4727 don't hate...you do your ways I do mine just like you have your opinions I have mine...the beauty of life...choices...this wasn't a fight it was a struggle with clothing which is not bjj...without the gi skills would have been required.
Do you grapple?? Because in GI jiu jitsu using the lapel is great for transitions and sweeps, and you literally need to hold the lapel for certain guards, as a grappler you need to be able to address lapel grips, it 100% requires skill, you must not train because she was very technical when using grips, which is why ffion was struggling so much, I suggest you watch no GI.
I really think people who just grab on the the lapel like that just don't have much of a game... I mean, what's the point? the whole match grabbing on the the same spot?... kinda lame fighting style... love Fionn's style better...
The way she was using the lapel was lame and limited both of them. But using the lapel to restrain your opponent's arm and working it into a submission is BEAST.
@@loveotheralchemies8355 honestly ad a white belt... Sometimes yeah I can only put top pressure and hope the person gives up or gets frustrated and makes a mistake. Lol
it goes by point if no submission happens. different moves have different point rewards. The girl in the white got 2 points for taking down the girl in blue at the beginning and when the time was up she was still winning because of those two points.
A change in position, aka sweep, aka person in white going from top to bottom, would award the other person points. The person on bottom remained on bottom and didn’t do anything of significance after trying to act like she jumped guard when she was going to get thrown. That’s why the person on top won. The person on bottom was awarded an advantage because she made a strong enough submission attempt. If white didn’t get the initial takedown blue would have won due to advantage.
how are they not winded after 1 minute of this????!! Their endurance is unbelievable.
The lapel work from bottom was impressive
The blue won many audiences hearts. She was attacking and leading the game.
I watched the whole video and the blue woman lies on her back the whole match
Being on your back isn't any sort of disadvantage in jiu-jitsu.
@@MrDavidKord But it is in every other combat sport, odd.

Ffion always seemed to be on the defensive and was in constant danger.
Overly aggressive, spiteful opponent. Bullying tactics work against a lot of opponents and is a valid style but I just think its a bit disrespectful
@@crashthecattrying to win a match within the rules is disrespectful?

Great guard work!
tricky guard. got to deal with the grips #1

Wish the announcer would say her name right, it’s Davies not Davis.
Not in pronunciation. Davies in this case is pronounced “Davis.”
@koshersalaami since that's my name I'm pretty certain he was pronouncing it wrong.
@@markd7922name is never wrong..all spellings of a name are correct
@Logicalsane not sure what you are saying. Her name is Davies with an "e" in it. It's not Davis as the announcer says it. She's Welsh!
