    Wow this brings back a lot of memories, taking that Brampton bus to Humber College ( halfway, it would go to Westwood Mall and then from there catch the Mississauga bus to Humber ).

    It's really sad that our generation will never know the feeling of riding these buses.I feel so glad that I was able to ride then growing up.I really miss these in my city.If only knew a place that have them now for their personal use.I would differently ride them again

    That 6V92/Voith sounds good.

    That and the 1991 Orions was the reason I went to Brampton. I rode this and 9129 on the 10/20 lines to/from the terminal. I loved the ride.

    I used to ride this grand old lady orion almost once a week to get home when I was in school. She used to service route 10 at least once a week. And I would get dropped off at Lisa Street. The bus drivers used to hate getting her to drive and I could never understand why. I would want her over the new busses if I was driving for them. She has probably been retired though now. I never see her out and around on the roads or at the terminal anymore.

    SporTran had L10/B400 & L10/Voith Orion Is. I miss those. Our Orion Vs had M11/B400 and S50/B400. Bus 408 is being auctioned off Saturday. 405,406,409, and 410 won't be around much longer sadly :(.

      Two, model 01.507, also from 1988. Theirs could have had the 6V92/Voith or L10/Voith.

    Great video! 24 years old is great for a bus. Charlotte Transit wont even keep a bus past 13 and a half years.

    So even the D863.3 has a whining sound to. Rabbit Transit and Alexandria DASH have L10/Voith on their Orion Is and the Rabbit units had the whine to. I love the Orion I with the 6v92 and Allison HT747 which Berks Area Reading Transit authority had on their 89-90 Orion Is.

      MrWill1985 As did the Orion I's for LANTA (Lehigh & Northampton Transportation Authority), numbered 8721-8730 (1987), 8931-8935 (1989) and 8936-8950 (1989). All except 8936-8950 were 30 feet long, whereas 8936-8950 were 35 feet.

      ClassicTVMan1981X Did Lanta get 6v92 on their Orion 1s? I know they had series 50 on the New flyers.

    These Voith transmissions being mated to the 6V92 could pass for a Allison V730 or 731.

    Yes they sure were lovely grand old ladys weren't they my friend. I occasionally I see one of 1991's out on the road now and again but not very often. They sure don't make em like that anymore. The exhaust was loud on them, always new when one of those babys was roarin down clark boulevard

    Also, 401-411 are 1996 models. 421-424 were 1997/8. They replaced the 1980 GMC RTS and 1983 Flxible Metros SporTran once had.

      405 and 410 are finally gone as well. They've been gone about 4 months now. Shreveport is strictly Gillig and New Flyer now.

    • @undertakerfan4lif100
      @undertakerfan4lif100 10 лет назад +1

      :(..I watched them get towed away. I like the New Flyer models and the used buses 132-135 and now 142.Even tough i havent rode it yet

    • @jdeandre

      I bought my first car just before the Gilligs came in 2003. I've never been on one. I saw 142 Sunday morning on Southern Hills. There were a few of the Orions I never got to ride as well. Nice to know there's a fan in Shreveport besides myself

    thanks for that i didnt know.I was trying to figure out what year model there were its hard to tell because of the small font on inside those buses.but only 405,406,409, and 410 remain. Irather would have choose 423 over 410 to keep.I dont remember seeing them old ones they once had but then again it was before my time but came across pictures of them.

      These things were actually built to last, too. The new fangled bullshit buses in use today is pure crap. Port Authority of Pittsburgh bought about 15 brandy-new tri-axle buses -- they were breaking down all over Allegheny County within TWO WEEKS. Hell, at THAT point, they didn't even receive all of the vehicles!

    • @jefftrotter8152
      @jefftrotter8152 7 лет назад +1

      Geno2733 you right the new buses are garbage compared to these.i remember when we first got 101-105 they had problems that hey 2nd week on the road.

      Did you get the chance to ride on any of the 'Burgh's 1993 Flxible Metros with the Series 50/Voith (2300-2449)?
