Phlea, I'm pretty sure you didn't notice, but the 2S38 has air target tracking so you can lock onto air targets. Also, the scout drones only circle the battle if you have the key binding.

the 2S38, as well as BMD-4, BMP-2M, PUMA and M3A3 received IR tracking for arial targets, meaning you can track planes, helis and drones just like a SPAA can (activate in gunner view).

@Ruska It literally is. you sacrifice some pen (which the HSTV-L doesn't have that much of anyways) for a lot more ammo, airburst and APHE rounds, a higher fire rate, and better survivability. It's also at a much lower battle rating. All the HSTV-L has on it is penetration (which isn't enough to frontally pen much anyways), a lower profile, and better mobility.
Edit: the 2S38 also has 3rd gen thermals while the HSTV-L only has 1st gen
@Ruska they also have the same Spalling while the HSTV-L has double the size of APFSDS
It’s like 2.2 kg while the 2S38 gets a .95kg round
(Edit it’s .95 not .97 kg, which drives my point further)
57mm should not have the same amount of spalling as a massive 75mm
It would be like a .50 acting like an explosive 30mm round
It’s unfair
Especially since the HSTV-L doesn’t get a lot of things it’s supposed to, while the 2S38 hasn’t even completed it’s trials
(It was supposed to happen this year, but a war happened)
It’s a broken vehicle that really should be at 10.3 like the HS, and the HS should be given it’s better performance back
And be allowed it insane depression and just placed at 11.0
Just like how the R3T20 needs to be given it’s better stabilizer back, and just put at 7.0 so Italy can get some more SPAA’s that arnt the R3

With the addition of the 2S38 Gaijin decided to add tracking feature for IFVs, works for BMP-2M, BMD-4, M3A3 Bradley and Puma!
and "forgot" to add it for the HSTV-L just like they "forgot" its proxy rounds, its actual penetration, its fire rate, and its real gun depression

It's IRST, which is even better. It doesn't show up on any RWR, nor can it be fooled by chaff.

The hangar eastern egg is actually a lot more than it first looks like. It's just a guy with who you can walk around in 1st person view but what it allows you to do is a kicker, you actually can walk to the other sites. As in just follow the roads (if you don't you get 3s return to the battlefield) and you can reach the docks and the airfield.
But even that isn't the thing, they just allowed players to do it but that has been a thing for ages. The small transition between sites isn't a loading screen, it's a flyby to the site and the game just loads your chosen vehicles to there without changing the map. Now if someone just would mod the hell out of this.

2S32 has a tracking/targeting radar that makes taking out enemy airborne targets very easy.
While aiming down open your control menu with “Y” select “Radar” and “Lock target”.
Once the target is locked the ballistic computer will calculate the spot of where you need to shoot to hit the air target.
Combine that with the proximity fuse shells and aircraft are light work.
What I love about watching this guy play is he's so ridiculously good from playing and honing his skills for years is it shoes that you don't have to chest to be good and enjoy the hell out of the game. Love the content Brodie

You can walk between the naval, air, and ground hangars (hangars for naval? docks? port? idk) By taking the road to the left on ground, or back across the walkway and to the left alll the way until you get to the fork where left is air and right is ground, from the naval base, and air is to the left, and you’re at the fork again. Cool to be able to walk around like that
Oh wow i confused myself by re reading that, Long story short is you can walk between bases, i havent seen anyone talking about it, ik it usually says return to the battlefield at some points ,but it lets you take the route to the other hangars without sending you back or giving you the messafe

Hey, That button in the middle on the drone. It doesnt mean the drone goes automaticly in circles. It means you can make it go in circles. To do that you need to bind it in controls thats why there is no keybind above the drone circle icon. Hope that helps :)
U can use the test drive map as you hanger. You can get it from the WT wiki. I had the hanger view placed exactly where the test drive started so it looked fairly seamless.

2S38 is nasty. It has everything from artillery to drone. With BMP2M and TURMS it can go through everything. Also you must click on drone circle command if you want him to circle.

I discovered you can walk the guy all the way to the other hangers too. Follow the roads, hold shift to run. If you mess up...go out of bounds...you have 2 seconds to back up or it pops you back to the hanger.
My feed is so much better with Phly in it. My algorithm didn't know what to do without him

Just a fyi use the Auto lock function for that aaa/light tank it will follow the target and give you a marker for shooting. Keybinding is Radar lock target in tanks and you need to set keybinding for scout drone to circle

Phly use the Alt+F function on the jets you can get them so much easier but you have to aim down sight to use it

The trick is... If you think you're leading enough...Lead more... Especially against jets. You gotta keep in mind that .01ms it took your brain to decide to "shoot there", the jets already traveled 100+m beyond that point. Just lead wayyyy beyond. A really good trick to start getting used to it, is to spray clusters wayyy ahead of them and then watch them fly into it.

The purpose of the armed drones is to give everyone a CAS vehicle without requiring the ridiculous grind through the air tree. They're not as useful as the real aircraft, but at least they provide the same tool without buying premiums or grinding in air modes to bring it to ground RB. The meta for after firing both missiles is to J out or try to impotently crash into a tank. They spawn way too high and too close.

You can actually walk the road all the way out to where the ships hangar is. It's pretty cool. There's also a little dude you can be when you're looking at your ship as well.

Bind "flying in orbit" for ground vehicle controls. Your drone will circle in a 1 grid square diameter until shot down.

Lowkey, An AC130 would be so much cooler than a nuke. sure it would be pretty vulnurable to SAMs and fighters, but place it at 25,000ft, at 340knots, and you could definitely get a few fun kills.

with all the crazy stuff in game now, (ATGM, Drones, miniguns, sturmtiger etc) I doubt its much of a scare anymore to have the goood ol player driven arty added. Everyone used to be so scared of artillery being added with a world of tanks style aiming camera for them back in the day when ground was newly added. I agree that the top down camera for them was dumb but I believe there can be tons of better and less op ways of aiming implemented now. Heck if I can deploy a drone now from game start and fly it over the enemy spawn to see whats going on, arty is not so bad now eh?
You can bind a key for drone cruising to avoid going it beyond the battlefield.
Incase you havent found out yet, you have to set a Key Bind to the Drone Circle Loiter feature and activate it.
AC-130 would be extremely overkill, on the other hand literally anyone can easily snipe it out the air within seconds.
