    Hi Heather!
    I just wanted to take a moment and THANK YOU for sharing your Harvard journey with us here on RUclips. I applied and got into the program in 2021, and I graduate next year in 2025! You were most certainly a persuading voice that helped me decide to begin my Harvard journey.
    Really and truly, I watched your videos, took notes, and really made sure my life aligned with the requirements needed for me to pursue my 4 year college degree at Harvard. So, as a fan and fellow classmate, I really, really thank you for this channel, your videos, for being transparent, and for helping your fellow classmates as you traveled along your own Harvard journey. You’re the best, and I can’t wait to join you on the Alumni side next year. 🤗😎

I'll be heading to Boston to finish the mandatory on-campus course, and then I'll have four more courses to go. It's gonna be a long journey, but I'm excited about it. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences - it really helped answer a lot of my questions.

      They only do that sometimes. Historically, graduate degrees at Harvard are in Latin. Latin for graduate degrees are the rule, not the exception.

I have my bachelors and I’ve always wanted to go to Harvard, but I’m in California and it is impossible for me to move to the East Coast because I have 2 kids now and my husband job is here. Hello, Heather!
    First, congratulations.
    Second, I am so glad you talked about whether Harvard Extension School is part of Harvard. I got my undergraduate degree in finance at an okay state school, 4.0 and everything, but private equity firms (Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, etc.) are big on Ivy League degrees. I am not in a position to quit my current entry-level position to go back and get an MBA from Harvard, so I have been looking into the Harvard Extension School. A friend of mine said he thinks a master’s in finance from HES would be pretty good to have. But my brother says not to waste the time and energy on it because it’s not “legit” Harvard, and employers would think I’m trying to scam them. Can you give me some wisdom on my current situation?

    • @mohmmadahmed8522
      @mohmmadahmed8522 6 месяцев назад

      well there is one thing. HARVARD Extension School is a part of Harvard University, but it's not Harvard Business School. So technically it won't have the same value, but you could still get a good job cuz its still a "Harvard Degree". I'd say get some more professional advice. :)

    • @Joshua-v9u
      @Joshua-v9u 5 месяцев назад +2

      As an additional input, there is a certain prestige that comes with the degree, but it is in a different sense. Employers are less likely to be impressed in the sense of "WOW!! You were an outstanding applicant and got in THE Harvard?!" and more of "WOW! You were able to work a full-time job while also completing a rigorous Harvard degree?!" Prestige normally lies in the difficulty to be accepted however in this case it would more be in the sense of being able to complete a similarly rigorous degree while also working full time. Do not present it as a Harvard Business school degree, but rather leverage your skills that come from your job experience you already have COMBINED with a Harvard education. Your brother, quite frankly, is not qualified to speak on the matter. I have a degree from UT Austin in applied mathematics, a T10 program in the nation ranked above Harvard in many cases and I have still gotten passed over for job offers, one of which did the mathematics for teaching degree at Harvard Extension School. You can make your own conclusions about what that says about how the degrees are viewed. As with many things in life, a good degree helps, but experience and personal skills are better. Harvard Extension School degree will not gatekeep you from any employment opportunity that a "True" Harvard degree would. They are both Harvard University and treated as such.

    • @PookaList
      @PookaList 5 месяцев назад +3

      I’m sorry but I’ll state the obvious…
      Harvard has 12 Schools.
      Harvard Extension Schools is one of those schools.
      HES is just as much Harvard as the College, as the Divinity school, as the Law school or the Business school.
      Only someone grossly ill-informed would try to insult an actual degree from an actual Harvard University School. They all carry the same pedigree and heritage of being Harvard University degrees. If you want a Finance Degree at HES, it will be a Harvard Degree, period. And yes that will look incredibly impressive to any prospective employer.

      Regarding Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan -- more important than, 'Is HES legit Harvard?' is to ask people at HES, 'Do these employers recruit at HES?' because on-campus interviews is how schools get graduates into certain companies early in their careers.
      (Also GS and JPM are not really private equity firms, that's more KKR, Apollo, Blackstone)

      Getting in requires you to pass 3 classes as listed per their program. I’m considering IR and I need to pass their proseminar course, 1 IR class and 1 IR elective totaling a 3.0 GPA minimum, as they will assess your ability to handle the rigorous program.
      Good luck!

    • @PookaList
      @PookaList 5 месяцев назад +4

      Technically it’s not. The College is notoriously tough, but so is HES. About 6% of applicants get in and only about half of that finish the degree. It’s tough and it’s no joke. Only 90-130 people graduate with an ALB degree each year. It’s that tough. This isn’t a degree that anybody with an internet connection can log in and get. Most adult students wash out the program because of how tough it is. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      @@PookaList all of this added the requirements prior to moving forward make it rough. So it’s not “easy” - work is required to make it

    • @danmiguel1260
      @danmiguel1260 4 месяца назад

      @@PookaList I believe that the wash out rate depends on the level of academic preparation the student has prior to enrolling in Expo-25, which is the weed out writing class that must be passed with a B or better. In addition, the root cause to why most potential hopefuls don't make it through the initial 3 class requirement for the ALB program is because of work/or family obligations. Very hard to complete the ALB requirements if the student has family obligations without support. I would assume that for the students who complete the ALB program, most have a strong academic record that has prepared them for the Expo-25 class. While Harvard Extension School doesn't require SAT or ACT test scores, most successful ALB students have high test scores that's on par with Harvard College students.
