    I wonder if con season is crunching CatPrint's queue. The foil detail on your prints really make the artwork pop! I'm glad youtube's algorithm recommended your channel, your style is so elegant and lovely and I will be following you on every social media.
    For any other artist alley folks interested in printers reading this, my personal recommendation for printer is the Epson Ecotank. The one I currently use is the ET 7750 which has been discontinued but they have lines of both home and professional printers. Great quality and the ink comes in little bottles of liquid that you just pour into the printer tanks so you don't need to mess around with cartridges.

    I've been having some good luck with WHCC for my fine art prints. Their "smooth matte" paper is considerably cheaper than the Hahnemuhle options in most shops (they do offer those too, among others) and it is still a good archival quality paper. Their quality overall has been fantastic, but have gotten the occasional scuffed print, but overall very happy.
    They are QUICK as well, but stuff like gallery wraps can take considerably longer. No foil printing option though, so will be exploring some of the options you mentioned, thanks!
    I have a local option that has somewhat similar if not cheaper rates, however, they have been hard to reach and they are much much slower. That being said, I still want to give them a proper try when I am not in a rush to give the small local guy a proper chance.

    Such a great video! ❤ so awesome for you to put together all this information for other artists! Even as someone who has been doing conventions for years now, I learned a few things :)
    Also, i wanted to share this in case it is helpful to anyone. Etsy has setup with Moo - so anyone who pays for Etsy plus on their shop ($10 a month) - gets 30% of all their Moo orders. This has saved me thousands of dollars on Moo orders! So if you have an etsy shop or even think you might want one - i think that subscription more than pays for itself in the first order or two.
    And I have recent experience with Vista vs Moo. I was making backing cards for my pins and wanted gold foil. I went with Vista because in my head they were just the cheaper option. They messed up my order three times in a row - as in the corrections they sent me for the messed up order kept being the same mistake over and over. (They kept putting silver foil instead of gold foil). Finally i got so frustrated I decided it was worth the extra money to just go with Moo and know they would be gorgeous. And then, once i had my whole order in the cart with my 30% etsy discount - it ended up being almost the exact same price as Vista - not more expensive at all! And as you might expect - they were so so so much nicer. Soft touch and everything.

    So I also fell for the Canon Pro-100 hype and shopped for one, only to find that they're no longer available. Pro-1000 was out of my price range at the time, so I went for the new Pro-200. Can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's been really nice. Beautiful print quality, never had a jam or any issue at all in the year I've been using it, and the blacks are SO solid. My only gripes are the tiny cartridges that don't last long, and the print quality is quite poor on the matte papers I've tried. It loves a good glossy paper or a very smooth semi-gloss though.
    Great video, very informative. I'm UK-based, so I can't use some of these (or at least not without paying astronomical shipping prices), but there was a lot of useful info here none the less, thank you!

    I love love your art style and your videos, its very inspiring for me to try and grow my art business. Do you have any suggestions for what to do when motivation goes down the drain? • @Inkwell
      @Inkwell  Год назад +1

      Having a full time job can make things very difficult for sure, I struggled with that balance for a long time, I would say do the type of work your super excited about, I see a lot of people doing work they think other are going to like but burn out will come a lot quicker from that, don’t be a Afraid to drop a project, as long as your inspired just focus on that and not the end result. At least that’s what helps me

  • @mrs.quills7061
    @mrs.quills7061 Год назад

    I’m so picky about quality too!! It’s why I got my own printer. I was so tired of outsourcing just for things to be too dark or dull. I actually tried catprint myself and was disappointed, I got prints with bent corners, spottiness, etc and a lot of people recommended them too. I think the pandemic overwhelmed them or something. It’s sad.
    I actually have two canon pixmas but they’re not that model you had lol 😆 the only issue I’ve had is the printer head was clogged because I was recovering from burnout for months, but learned how to quickly clean that.
    Do you have any recommendations for paper? Every artist recommends matte, but I hate matte paper after using semi gloss and glossy. I’ve noticed matte sucks up more ink and makes my prints way darker, glossy is usually the same and I don’t even have to convert it usually to cmyk and that’s another thing I hear debated. You don’t need to convert stuff to cmyk to print?

    Great video! Just wondering, do you always have the print companies send the prints to you, or have you used any print companies to print + drop ship your prints to customers?

    • @Inkwell
      @Inkwell  Год назад

      I don’t do dropping shipping personally but I know many companies offer this option, it’s just much harder to get price breaks when your starting out with the print on demand model. And this harder to be competitive with your pricing

    Thank you for the super helpful video! I've seen it a while ago and came back hoping to find an answer to this, but what method would you recommend to ship larger prints (11x17) alongside smaller items like pins and charms? Would you ship the print separately or do a shipping tube + box combo. I'm scratching my head a bit on this one because I don't see many artists selling large prints online and if they do, they often use third party websites like INPRNT to handle it separately. Also, if you ever made a video on shipping tips and tricks, that would be awesome! Thanks in advance! ღゝ◡╹)ノ♡
