What worked for my was: 1) Set my phone to auto-join my SSID for IOT, and disable auto join for my normal SSID (revert when done). 2) Scan the device specific QR code, that came in the box, in eWeLink, and follow the introductions 3) Hold the button down for +5 sec to put the device into pairing mode.
Hello, we will connect it to this solar energy panel (the panel is 12v, there is a step-down device at its output to 5v, so it gives 5v) We set the timer and let it run at 09:00 in the morning. The sun rises at 07:30, so this device will detect the first moment of operation as 07:30. In this case, will the timer we set for 09:00 be activated at the right time, or does it start counting down after the device starts working? Or let's say the electricity went out and came back... Can it preserve the time in its memory?
I don't know the answer to this as I control mine via SmartThings, so the SmartThings hub sends the on-off commands. I'm really not sure how much built-in intelligence there is - my suspicion would be that even if you use the ewelink app, it's your phone or the ewelink web servers that send the message. I'll maybe do an experiment with an RF pouch.
I would like to use it to be powered from my USB powerbank and then set a timer to power USB fan. My worry is that even on standby when the fan is not running, this Sonoff USB Smart Adaptor will kill my powerbank in no time because I presume that it is connected to wifi all the time. Is there some power saving feature where I could just set a timer and then have it disconnected from wifi to save power ?
Thought it was a timer type thing. But no mention of setting it to turn on for a period of time and switch off. Not sure what it can do better than the switch at the power point does. I must be missing something..........????
There is a complementary app called eWeLink which allows you to set timers and similar. The big win though is when you integrate it with a smart home system like SmartThings or Hue and you can get it to turn on and off due to external events such as getting dark or motion in the room.
Two things come to mind. 1) You are definitely using the 2.4 GHz (11bgn) network? You could try turning off the 5 GHz network on your router during setup. 2) It's not affected by anything metal nearby? I had problems in the past with a large metal filing cabinet.
@@GNCandrew I know that my wifi is 2.4 because i already have a smart switch. i checked all the other seting too and i dont have mac filtering or smth . i tried to move the device very close to the router but still the same. it basicaly conect like on your video except i dont get the choice to chose the device's wifi ,the one from the sonoff usb. it checks all those boxes like in the end it tells me to choose a name and stuff but when i press done it says ofline and the device flashes once every 2 seconds. so basically fails to conect to the router for some reason. do you have anything else in mind ?.. thanks for yor time!!
Sorry, rereading the question....I think so but not 100% sure. I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work even if you didn't connect it to the WiFi. You can USB inline switches for about half the price, though.
Thank you for the content and just to let you know you leaked you password anyway so change I'm sure you did but yeah I thought i should tell you regardless :) have a good one :)

Thanks for those tops. Hopefully they're useful for someone else too.
Thanks for the review, I see there is a timer function could you set a timer and expect the timer to work if WiFi was turned off?

No, I don't think there's anything like that in the device.
does it work with smart life or home assistant
The main complementary app is eWeLink which claims to link with Alexa, Google Home and Philips Hue. I have it integrated with SmartThings.

@@GNCandrew fixed it MY DUMBASS MADE A TYPO ON THE WIFI PASSWORD
Can you turn on/off on only the device, and not use app
You can use the native app (eWeLink If I remember) and also integrate with Smartthings.

@@GNCandrew do you have an link to that one?
Something like this? www.amazon.co.uk/Switch-Yeebline-Extension-Driving-Recorder/dp/B07S7C27PD/. No experience of this brand myself.
your wifi password is "There can be only one", nice
Needless to say, it's not that any more.

Thanks. I'll double check that I have.
