    Well, Good sir another simple but very strong and sturdy cage,no doubt in the near future you'll be repairing it,as you're aware the amount of abuse these welders get by being slung from one job site to another, you'll just take it in you're stride,regards and best wishes from Scotland 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

    I always measure outside to outside and subtract the diameter or width of whatever I'm trying to center. The way you are doing it makes total sense to me and I might try that next time!👍

    Good lookin' skid. I think it would have been fancier 8f the 1 1/2 tubing followed the profile of the machine. But I'm thinking of appearances not functional.
    I really am glad I found your channel. I'm learning a lot from your content. Keep up the great work!

    Nice job on the roll cage and skid for the Lincoln welder. Hopefully it will help protect the sheet metal from the loose nut behind the steering wheel.

    I'd like to have some of your jack stands and a positioner like that- Info on both would make a good video.

      I did a jackstand video awhile back...I'll see if I can get ya the link to it...I don't think I ever did a positioner video but I know I've used it in alot of videos

      These guys called me a couple days after this was done and told me that they are doing a job at a school where they are rolling the welding machine through the doors from one room to another and the whole skid has to be less than 32" wide....I had to cut a few inches out of the horizontal sections of the cable hooks to make it small enough
      Would have been real nice if they told me that before I built the thing but it wasn't really any big deal to change it...there was still enough room on the hooks to roll the leads up on...this is the first time I know of that they had to take those welders through man doors

    Looks great! I wonder if you could have made the cage just a little longer, so the cables where they connect to the machine was a bit protected? Seems like if one of those construction gorillas push the machine up against a wall, it will hit/bend/break the cables where they enter the machine. (NOT saying you should redo it... lol It looks great! just a thought.)

    I just finished building a skid for my new 330MPX a week and a half ago. What a coincidence! It’s a shame really because it looks like I’m going to be giving it back to Lincoln in exchange for another 305G. I’ve had two of those already and love them. Unbeknownst to me, Lincoln saw fit to not put a 14 pin amphenol receptacle on the 330 which means I can’t run my Cobramatic off the new welder. Couple that with the fact that you have to remove the hood on the 330 just to change spark plugs and a few other maintenance related issues and it’s a deal breaker 🤦🏻‍♂️.

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  Год назад +2

      These welder companies do some dumb stuff
      I run the older Miller Trailblazer 302's (with carb before they started fuel injecting them) and I like those...I have 2 of them
      But the new Trailblazer models are built backwards with the engine in the front and power generation gear in the back, that means that if ya set one in your truck bed close to the cab with the front of the machine towards the driver's side then the fuel and oil filters are facing the front of your truck bed where you can't change them without lifting the welder out...it's stupid

    • @williamthomas9463
      @williamthomas9463 Год назад +2

      Tell me about it 🤦🏻‍♂️! I have mine mounted length wise on top of my utility bed right behind the cab-shield on the driver’s side. Face of the machine facing towards the rear of the truck, obviously. Turns out it exhausts its hot air out of the top left corner. Right into my cab shield to the point that I’m going to have to fabricate a heat shield to keep it from burning the paint off of my cab shield. Measured the temperature yesterday and after only 10 minutes at high idle (not working, mind you) it was up to 500* F. And yes, I’m going to have to pull it off the truck every 500 hours in order to remove the hood to change the spark plugs🤬!
