    This is very impressive but what can you expect in terms of straightness assuming a well trammed machine and a properly prepared pilot hole? Materials most commonly used are St37 or 42CrMo4 steel (usually turning) and 6082 and 7075 aluminium (usually milling)

    hi, i need to drill many holes on a few blocks of 2312 steel. depth of cut is 220 mm, dia is 10mm. im having problems in releasing chips. do you have any special model drills that can suite me or vertical machines that DO NOT have through tool coolant? do you have any toolholding device that can simulate through tool collant so i could buy through tool coolant tools?

      @kennametal  10 лет назад +3

      Hey paul doyle Thanks for connecting with us.... Yes, the Long Drills can be used in both Vertical and Horizontal positions. If you are looking for some further info, check out pages G68 - G70 of our 2013 Master Catalog - Inch. Kennametal Inc. Thanks guys, i will download the catalog for sure and check out the data. We have been having problems with 1 particular component we manufacture which has two 3/8 inches diameter x 12.5 inches deep features. At the moment we are producing the holes in 3 stages with 3 different length drills using standard G83 Deep Hole drilling cycles but having to intermittently interrupt the final deepest drill cycle to blow out the swarf from the bottom of the hole. (our final longest drill does not have thru coolant) I am sure I can improve the process we are using combining one of your drills with a macro cycle I have developed for deep hole drilling. Many thanks.

      Check the wire EDM

    • @Gauntletbloggs
      @Gauntletbloggs 5 лет назад

      Typically wire is suspended in the material when the carbide is molded, then gets melted out in sintering.

    • @jacobkudrowich

      The most common way they break is by snapping right clean half in two inside yout part turning it into scrap

    is that coolant hole spiral? how do they do that?!

    • @someoftheyouse
      @someoftheyouse 2 года назад +1

      they sinter the spiral into the solid round blank, then they index the spiral and grind the tool around them.

      its not called gun drill for no reason. Its literally made to drill gun barrel holes in fact it was designed specifically for gun barrels.
