So... last night I got a call from my mother telling me that my dog had to be put down because of cancer. I just started my first year of college and live 5 hours away from home. I went down to our marching band field to just have some alone time and be somewhere familiar. That was when I heard someone speaking over a speaker just up the hill from me. I sat there thinking "Who on earth is ruining my moping time, don't they realize that I need quiet?" I heard a band start playing and was intrigued to hear my favorite genre of music. So, confused and curious, I made my way towards our ampitheatre. I walked into a free concert where Paradise Fears was playing this song, and loved every moment of the concert. They helped me feel a lot better and earned a well-deserved fan! Thank you!

I know what it’s like to lose someone you love while off in college. In late January of last year (Thursday Jan 25, 2018 to be specific), I was in the midst of my third week of my spring freshman semester at a college 1200 miles away from home, when I got a frantic call from my mother. She broke the news to me that my cat was dying and that they were at the vet. I quickly got on to FaceTime and was lucky to say my last goodbye to my cat before she passed, but the amount my heart ached from not being there for her was unbearable.
It’s honestly the first feeling in the world to not be there for your loved ones when they die. I wouldn’t wish this feeling upon anyway.
of course I could be wrong, but I see this video as showing how childhood heroes give us a certain amount of strength. We watched them fight through their battles only to know we could, in turn, fight through ours. But show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy. We grow up, sometimes we forget. But to quote my childhood hero, "heroes always show right at the end to save the day". So it's like they really needed them until they could find someone real.
Naruto Uzumaki will always be my hero, believe it!

All the stories, messages and the tunes have always been the hugs, advice and words of comfort and motivation that I needed to get out of my deepest and darkest times. I discovered you guys when I was 13, around late 2013 and I've been listening to you guys ever since. I live all the way in Malaysia (if you don't know its right next to Singapore) and I'm still a minor so I can't send my support in the financial way like buy merch and the albums but when I get my life together I definitely will. This song has helped me through so much. And the video hits so close to home. Ive always had either make believe friends or had a fandom i was in. Fictional characters have helped ne even if they arent real. I am always datdreaming in class and thinking of different things and it helps me.

This band.....for almost 3 years now I've been with them. I love them so much. They've helped me through my darkest times. When I felt like giving up...Oh my god. Their sings get better and better! I'm super proud of them! I STILL can't believe they're signed now!! I remember when that whole band was about 18-20. I love y'all!! Thank you for everything. "All that's good is gone." at some point that might be true, but it doesn't matter. I know I don't mean anything to most people who would be reading this, but remember that wherever you are, you have always got yourself, and if you believe in yourself, you can become something good, and believe me, you can change lives by believing in yourself.

While it is of course up to the listener's interpretation, I wouldn't doubt it if this was written through a Christian lens. There's a precedent for it (Sanctuary), and Sam has described himself as a believer before. Then there's the direct Biblical reference in the second verse with Sam describing his soul, and the cup having "runneth over" (Psalm 23:5). And, of course, the chorus: "You're there, and, God, at least that's something."
