    When playing with my Parkside tools I have accidentally short circuited my 4Ah x20v team battery pack. Unfortunatelly the BMS went dead, so I had to find replacement board from another battery pack. This is a short video showing how to unsolder the old BMS board and solder the spare one.

    Where did you buy a bms from?? Because i have one battery that is not charging and bms is smoked so i want to change bms aswell.

      Didn't buy it. I took it from a dead battery pack.

    I heard that if you will disconnect battery from BMS it will stop working. I know how it sounds. Just want to ask. After disconnecting and connecting BMS to new battery pack is it working (charging etc)?

    • @icku

      This happens to laptop battery BMS. Most BMS on power tools are quite simple and don't have such feature. They will continue to work when you reconnect the battery cells.

      @@icku Hmmm. It's sounds reasonable. I saw on forum such warning (to bypass cells during changing). I also saw programmer pins (slots) described as J1, that's why i asked. Mine 2Ah battery just lost capacity and i want to change cells and i worry that i will kill BMS. So basically i can disconnect BMS (same as yours), put new cells and connect it back? No issues with charging on LY758BX (V1.1) etc?

    • @icku
      @icku  3 года назад

      You won't have any problems doing that. Tested couple of times with my own battery packs. This BMS has cell balancing when charging and probably the programming pins are for that. Unfortunatelly i couldn't find spreadsheet for the microchip on board, so I can't tell for sure. But for changing cell - don't worry, you won''t have issues.

      @@icku i have exactly same issue to find any spec for this chip on BMS board and also this pins for programming made me confused. I saw also that 2Ah and 4Ah BMS are exactly the same so as i can see (and if it's not any changes on this chip programing) you can simply add 5 additional cells and have 6Ah power pack (using VTC5A or even VTC6 cells, Litokalla HG2). The most important for now for me is that i will not "brick" BMS buy disconnecting cells from it.

      @@TheYamakasi007 Yep, you can replace the cells with lets say 2500mAh. There was even a video tutorial about it, but i can't find it right now...

    It should have short circuit protection, isn't it ? :)

    • @icku
      @icku  3 года назад

      Well i was thinking the same, but the damn thing won't work. Maybe because the short was between the battery level indicator cables - don't know. And i don't have schematic of the BMS and having some hard time finding how the T and ID terminals are connected and working. The only short protection on the + and - terminals is that metal plate with hole in it. Its some sort of fuse.
