- Eeey, I'm back again with another cover, and this time only two months have passed! :D Like the title says, the only difference is that Oliver is singing this in V5 since he can sound really different, though personal tuning style aside it's more about taking advantage of new features rather than actual engine quality. I'll detail that in the comments section eventually so stick around. Finally, thanks cora for giving me the go ahead to make this a while back-it wasn't much but it did put me at ease in making this ^_^

Personal commentary, major wall of text warning cause I'm also making up for Kirameku Hamabe. No timestamps this time around, as this is a bit more general.
Before I get into V5 I wanna talk about my overall tuning style for a bit. So compared to my first couple of covers with Miku and Fukase, I cut back A LOT on vibrato for desync and kirameku hamabe. There are some people who might think it’s more low effort but idk, somewhere along the line I realized the attacks and releases on each word were the more important aspect in creating emotion, and in doing so it makes it more fun and less stressful to me to keep making more covers, so that’s what you’ll be hearing for now, I guess. However, I am coming closer to striking a balance on my newest projects, so do look forward to that in the future.
So I didn’t mean to shill on Vocaloid 5 when I was making this, but since Oliver is still a V3 voicebank I guess this is what I’m doing now, lol. I guess the single most notable difference is Oliver’s tone, so I’ll hit that one first. For this, the one V5 parameter I’ve abused the most is the exciter-if it sounds like I’ve changed his gen/character parameters, they’re actually set to 0 and it’s all of the exciter’s doing. Because I use it in tandem with EQ, just send a reply if anyone wants to know the specific numbers. But as a disclaimer I’ve since dialed back on this after tuning desync because I’ve learned better and more natural ways to make Oliver sound more powerful ^^ Also scattered throughout the song are some pretty nice breath releases I made using air. I draw in about 60 at the end of a phrase-going all the way up to 124 makes the effect too quiet-and I actually liked the way they turned out so much that I chose to not include the harmony in the beginning just so that they’ll stand out more, lol.
One last thing, inputting english lyrics in V5 is so much easier compared to V4. I really don’t have to go into any more detail as it’s more of an interface thing instead of a technique, but my most favorite thing about it is that it will try to estimate the phonemes of words that don’t exist. So it’s really useful when I’m trying to tweak a vocaloid’s accent-which I do with all of my vocaloids as of now actually; ; -and I type in things like "doewn". In all seriousness though, even though v5 doesn’t have xsy, it’s really cool for if you want to use english vocas or old vocas, and Oliver is both :)

I really like your tuning (at least in this song), he sounds more clearer so you can understand the words, less robotic and... more emotional? there are parts where I can hear vibrato so intense that it sound like his voice is tired or about to crack, almost like an attempt to make soft and exhausted growl
maybe I'm just hearing things and this all isn't correct but I still adore you work! keep going :)
Aw, thanks! and don't worry about hearing things-I heard it too. I think it's because I was pushing the exciter a lot, but I'm glad something neat came out of it! (I'm also one step closer to making Oliver growl for real lol)

Thank you!! Actually owning and using Oliver reminded me of how much I love him too, so I hope I can make more covers with him! As for my art, I have a pretty shounen artstyle, but whenever I draw Oliver specifically people do say it looks cute. Oliver's aura is just that strong, lol.
