The RXM is a great gun because it just moved the goalposts of what can be offered for reasonable money. FCU, nice trigger, good sights, optics cut, index point and likely good reliability. It is products like this which give consumers better options. And makes the current market players something to ponder about.
Your comment about Glock mags for carry is 100% on point. I've had my RXMs (yes I now own two I love them so much) and my first RXM has had over 1000 through it in 3 range sessions. Only, and I mean ONLY issue, was my preferred JHP ammo nosediving on the last round of the PMAGs. I got 3 Glock 19 Gen 5 mags, and it's 100% completely reliable. That PMAG issue was repeatable with other JHP ammo types, even happened at home with hand cycling tests. So, for ball ammo the PMAGs are excellent, but yeah, get a couple Glock 19 Gen 4 or Gen 5 mags for carry, and she's just an amazing gun. I can't say enough how much I love these things.
I have had my RXM for about 2 weeks, I really like it, ultra reliable, great trigger, no trigger bite, feels great in the hand, shoots very comfortably, as accurate as I am, excellent sights, nice controls (for a righty)…optic cut…perfect little pistola…I have a G19 also but it cost about $200 more and the RXM feels better too me…what a deal the RXM is…as for durability->Ruger and Magpul just didn’t fall off the turnip wagon yesterday…mine was $440 otd
@ one failure with a failure to feed on a 147g flat point- last round in mag of a p mag…no failure with same ammo in ETS mag…shot 115, 124 also…about 225 rnds thus far…if a perp is depending on the RXM to fail…he had better buy a lotto ticket!…because he is a lucky sob!…imo of course….ymmv
@@hikeskoolFanboys use it as an insult, like accusing someone of plagiarism. Refinement isn’t plagiarism. There are 21 improvements on the RxM over a stock G3, so they are not identical clone twins.
Great overview, just found your channel Brother... 4th video in, Sub'd! Just snagged the RXM (moving from another platform). After months of re-research the RXM dropped and initially I didn't even give it a thought. Mag compatibility was a big factor in my previous purchase choices and I decided Glock mags were the most universal... especially factoring in PMags, PSA Micro Dagger Mags etc. I was looking at Glock, Shadow Systems, Zev, PSA and my personal favorite Springfield, but kept coming back to the RXM as an option. The RXM had the SCT-ish grip, 3/4 co-witness night sights, optic mount system a-la Echelon, a P365-ish FCI, Magpul & Ruger reliability and customer support, as well as perhaps the largest 3rd-Party aftermarket support of any platform apart from the AR. I also found the trigger on my copy to surpass the G19... mine has a solid take-up stop and a rolling but predictable break (others have reported otherwise). Not as good as my stock 43x, but better than the G19 or Dagger. Excited to see what Magpul and Ruger will do with this one, they need to pull a play from PSA and offer as many grip options as they can make available... my LGS has already sold out of their initial RXM shipment. With 200 rounds through the RXM (115, 124, 147, HP's and Ball), it did not skip a beat... solid performer. Looking forward to trying the Tactical Pontoon Trigger and OEM mags. Thanks again... I'm sure you are getting ready for Shot 25... rest-up lol!
I've already sold quite a few of these, so I believe they will be a big hit for Ruger & Magpul. Just so you know, the rail slot is not M1913 width like on Gen5 Glocks, and the thumbscrew version Surefire X300/X400 lights don't seem to tighten up as much as they do on a Glock frame. None of the ones I've handled had a better trigger than any other Gen3 Glock, but the shoe is more comfortable. They all pull around 5-5.5 lbs if you get the gauge lined up right and pull it correctly without causing a false light reading. The biggest nitpick besides the rail is how the dust cover tilts down away from the slide forward of the trigger guard and takedown pin. That's the biggest thing about it that makes it seem like a $400 pistol instead of a $600 pistol to me. Hopefully, Magpul will fix that in future runs of the grip frames.
Great analysis, thank you. That's where so many of these clones seem to fall short - there are always a few inconsistencies that keep them from being 100 percent "parts compatible" which ironically is one of the supposed main selling points 👌
Nice review. I picked it up a week ago (385 otd). It’s been a nice EDC. Glock mag for home, oem mags for range. I emailed magpul giving them color options based on shocklite polymers. Offered to be a test dummy 😄
When mounting a red dot, don't forget to use the little plugs they provided and use the short screws to mount the optic. I've got a few hundred rounds through mine and very happy with it so far
I bought one and put a delta on it. So far, it's been problem free with 400 rounds down range. Mostly, my reloads . The problem that you talked about is that the right screw will lock up the exacter if it's too long. My FFL got 12 in. Put 1 in the rental fleet. The rest were sold in an hour.
Got mine two weeks ago, $399 otd. Just two range sessions, but 200 rounds, no issues, including 50+ JHP through the PMAGs. It’s a lot for the money. I like it a lot.
I emailed Icarus precision a few weeks back and they responded saying they have something already in the works. A metal frame version of this will be awesome imo.
Shot this at range against a Shadow Systems version. Both are Glock Gen 3 clones. At 10 yards they were so close as to make it a tie. In my state you could be hard pressed to claim self defense. I know, we have to protect offenders.
@@TiberiousGib Not at all. Why do you assume I have to be one of those things to have an opinion ? I don't get into the silly brand loyalty crap. Dagger vs. RXM. Shot both yesterday. My Dagger copy (1st shipment of 2020 I think), I can't shoot one complete mag without the mag self-ejecting... It's not my grip or externally depressing the mag release, not sure what it is, and I've not heard of many others with this issue. The Dagger grip is a bit more comfortable for my hand but also less concealable. They both shoot well, but the RXM has less recoil and shoots flatter, more accurate (iron sights). They both are accurate with red-dot (Swampfox & Vortex tested). Both great options, but RXM has tritium 3/4 co-witness, FCI, and Ruger QC out of the box for similar pricepoint ($350).

@@True-word74 that's good input man thanks. I wouldn't say I'm a Glock fanboy but I do have more Glocks than any other firearm. I'm OK with "plastic" sights (not many people talk about how instead of denting and scratching like metal "plastic" just absorbs most impacts but anyway) and a "bad" trigger (put a case through a new stock Glock trigger and the feel improves appreciably) because the things just work. I only get to shoot about 15 times a year and I've never had repeatable issues that aren't user-induced. All accessories work correctly without any fidgeting. I got one and it's gonna take my G19 spot for EDC for a little while. It's reliable and feels great in my hands
That’s a big compliment
I put thousands of rounds through pmags and shield arms mags and have never had a malfunctions. And I run them in my carry guns with 100% confidence.
The newer ones have been good, dicey when they first came out

I would love to see Ruger make versions in .357 Sig and 10 mm.
