Absolute perfection. I think we can all agree that when Larry runs out of Thomas characters and rolling stock to make, perhaps he can start recreating episodes with more sticker faces and actual sets. Imagine all of season 1 in lego form.
Gordon needs his pilot wheels to be connected with 2 pivot points to make turns correctly without his flanges jumping the track. Also a sloped 1x4 plate exists in Gordon's color, for the sides of his firebox
When printing faces you could color the entire background with the face's main colour. So that if the machine leaves a bit extra again, you don't have to bother coloring those blank spots with a pencil
Nice to see another model from you! The vinyl stickers look quite clean, and the colored wheels are a nice touch. The express coaches and new alternate expression faces were fun bonus surprises too! If you don't mind me mentioning a couple bits of info from my experience with vinyl stickers - transfer tape is a convenient tool to line up and apply the stickers. It's especially helpful for larger pieces like the tender lining, although you managed quite well without it. Also some Cricut machines have a "print then cut" feature where the machine reads special markings on a printed sticker sheet (like Gordon's faces) to help it align and cut correctly. As I now Google it, it looks like the Cricut Joy unfortunately doesn't have that feature, but your solution got the job done regardless.
Thanks WoodenToby! Glad you liked all that :) I've definitely looked into transfer tape, I'll have to make the investment in that too! And about the "print then cut" feature, yeah, I deleted a small tangent where I moan about Cricut probably deliberately making it hard to do on the cheap machines so you buy the expensive ones with print and cut. But I thought that negative, bashing and conspiratory tone was a bit much for the video!
Gordon looks amazing! It's like he came straight out of the show itself, the details, the build, everything about this lego Gordon is grand! And those express coaches, spot on! It's incredible how you made the one of the biggest engines in Lego. With everything you've had learned while making the big blue engine, building other engines like Henry should be no problem.
I'd hope those slopes are available in dark azure considering I've used quite literally 200 of them on just one of my trains, too bad I needed to count them all out a few times just to make sure they all arrived. Great build as always, compromising on the least bad option is always a nightmare but is just a given part of Lego building.
Wow, that was a journey! Was very satisfying to see the application of the cut vinyl (as its usually sped up!). Also there is something really striking about Gordon's large size, just him towering over Thomas is so well done. Incredible work as always.
Thanks so much man! It's odd having a small-scale train be so big, I can see why people have wanted to see it for so long! And yeah, I wanted to show more real-time footage this video and less sped-up stuff to give a more real sense of how long it takes. I don't know if I achieved that but I think it's a nicer effect
This is so incredible! And I love the new addition of adding Color to the wheels, and designing more builds to add along with Gordon was a great idea as well, one my Favorite models so far.
Larry, this is simply amazing! I really liked your side rods technique, I think that's really smart, and I think the wheels turned out much, much better than if you'd painted them! The stickering on the rest of the model also helps bring out Gordon's shape. For future models (or if you want to modify Gordon), usually the front bogie needs to have 2 pivots points, one on the bogie, and one on the chassis, preferably in line with the front driving wheels. Just a suggestion if you want to have flanged wheels on there. Lovely model!
Thanks so much :D Glad you enjoyed those details. I find the red sides of the running board transform the models. And thanks for the tip of the pivot points! Good to know
I absolutely love Gordon he’s such a strong and valuable character. and whenever you make Thomas models you cannot get away without making him. Nice job Larry.
Looks amazing! I'm really excited for the video on the coaches, you inspired me to make my own Lego Train MOC and passenger cars have been a challenge for me. I'd love to see how the master does it!
Thanks so much! Looking forward to sharing the process behind the coaches, rolling stock can be a real challenge for sure. And I'm very happy to have inspired you 😄
If you ever get around to making Henry, I *really* wanna see how you’d try to tackle swapping between his old shape and his new shape. Love this Gordon. Really nice to see you making the bigger engines now. 💙
Ooooo that Gordon hit just the right spot, and i think it would be a great idea to put all of your Thomas and freinds characters and Rolling stock onto Lego ideas, so we could all support it and it could maybe be a set? I mean only if you want it to be.
Gordon has to be your best model ever! He’s so accurate and stylish! You should totally call the Sticker machine Gordon’s Machine after his machine from the show lol :p
This was one model I was really looking forward to seeing! Gordon is one of my all time favorite characters and seeing this model is amazing! Fantastic work on your end! Really curious to see how you’ll tackle the other members of the three big engines in future!
5:09 fun fact: that's a more European, non-Soviet design of coupler, America, Asia, Africa, and old Soviet countries use semi-automatic couplers, or knuckles, some railroads will use fully automatics though, and some others use link and pin couplers
This is brilliant... as are your other Thomas and Friends builds. Living here on the Isle of Man (the original "Sodor") I have a bit of a soft spot for the original books and TV series and you've captured the look perfectly! I've been trying my hand at building 4 stud wide trains myself (minifigure scale narrow gauge stuff) and know just what a challenge it is, so excellent work. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks man(x)! (I'm sorry) That's really sweet, cool to know you have been building your own ones and that you understand the challenge, but it's worth it! More on the way :)
This was most definitely worth the wait, now we just need James and Henry and all the engines from season 1 would be in lego form, also would you every make a lego Henrieta, Bertie, and Terence too?
You’ve outdone yourself with this one larry! I think this would be difficult, but a fun challenge, you could definitely tackle a double farlie like mighty+mack which would look incredible!
This video made my day, Great Job, You finally have an express passenger steam engine, a Gresley built one! 🤩 I’m building Gordon too for gauge 1, but have no photos or videos of him yet.
WOOOOOO! YEAAAH BABYYY! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about! Woooo! Haha, anyways, excellent work, Larry! You did a fine job on Gordon. All we need now is Henry and James, and the entire Famous Eight will be complete! Keep it up, mate!
For a double wheeled front/pilot bogie you need two swivels. And for sticker design you definitely should use illustrator instead of photoshop. So much easier and your stickers are easier to make plotter ready. But overall I love this. Job well done!
This is beautiful and beautiful pulled off this is how I could see Lego doing Gordon and even in the scale you build with Gordon is still the biggest of your engines so far
Excellent model! I’m currently making a J1e Hudson in the 4 wide scale in Studio and I’m just WAITING to make it irl. I’m truly proud and wish I could show
This model actually jumped me out, stickers for the wheels is actually a whole new work use! Good job, considering Gordon DOES use a long body it is hard to built an engine like that. Perhaps Henry or Emily is next?
5:33 A solution I worked out is connecting the pilot sets to the end axles of the drivers. Sure it’s a more complex design, but the result is much more reliable
Fantastic model! Your best one so far imo, it more than lived up to the hype. The express coaches were a nice surprise as well. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Personally you “compromising” the TV accurate proportions for the bigger wheels and making him a touch longer makes him look way better lol Hes closer to an actual A1 (if only a bit thin but thats a comprise with lego) so imo he looks much more aesthetically pleasing lol
Good old Gordo here is absolute peak lego trains, deffo worth the wait. As for motorizing him, why not build another circuit cubes van but with express coach stickers and bricks? It won't be perfect, but might get the job done
Partway in, but thank you so much for doing the wheels test on the corners. Just got into the 4 wide trains and this has been one of my worries while working digitally.
Oh my goodness this is incredible man! Great job! Unbelievably amazing Also now that you have that sticker cutter, maybe a redo for all your models stickers could be something to consider
Gordon looks fantastic, great work! For your front bogie I imagine you problem is that you are using only a single pivot point. I had this same issue with my Hall class. If you attach a pivot just in front of the drivers then run a bar to the middle of the bogie and pivot there as well you will find it will run smoothly around the corners.
Absolute perfection. I think we can all agree that when Larry runs out of Thomas characters and rolling stock to make, perhaps he can start recreating episodes with more sticker faces and actual sets. Imagine all of season 1 in lego form.

This was so worth the wait. The Express coaches look magnificent as well.
Now we need a James and Henry Model, Then the 8 Famous Engines is complete!
Gordon needs his pilot wheels to be connected with 2 pivot points to make turns correctly without his flanges jumping the track. Also a sloped 1x4 plate exists in Gordon's color, for the sides of his firebox
ah, another fellow intellectual, can't forget the back axle needing to be offset from the picot
When printing faces you could color the entire background with the face's main colour. So that if the machine leaves a bit extra again, you don't have to bother coloring those blank spots with a pencil
People complain about Lego stickers all the time but this is next level stuff that appreciates them for what they are, I love it

Gordon looks very grand and his express coaches are worth the wait. You could definitely reuse his design as a template to make Henry
That looks fatastic! Little does Larry know, with stuff like this, he's going to cause a worldwide shortage of those 3x3 grey round tile pieces :D
