Why would someone be into paper and pictures of people they don’t even know? This, this is why. Thank you Renee for your time and effort putting together memorable pictures with the right background and music. ❤
Fair winds and following sea Sir. Outstanding tribute for George. Thank you Renee for honoring him. I was in the US Navy & very proud of my service. ⚓💯
What a beautiful story...only you can do this ...thanks for sharing his story and thanks to all that served...my Dad was in the Navy during this time period...🥰🥰
Some amazing historical photos! Love looking at them. Thank you for putting a lot of time & effort into sharing. Appreciate. Have a great weekend, safe week.
Hip Hip Hooray….I agree with the commenter below…..”we are more alike then different”……and this is why we share sentiments such as Renee bring to us…..l
Great story about George who served in the Merchant Marine and his life. Your "History Behind the Paper" vids are always my absolute favorites. 👌I´ve never been to Hawaii (like you did) or to India, but several times due to business and touristic purposes in China. I think I remember that you told us that one of your relatives also served in the Merchant Marine during WWII, didn´t he ?! Have a fantastic weekend (sunny and around 75 degrees F over here), and hope that you´re feeling better now. 🤞Greets from GER, U.
Yes! My grandfather served in the Merchant Marines. I have a little book with some of his paperwork from his time on the ships as well as some drawings & poetry that he wrote. One of my prized possessions! To have something that he had with him during that time... if only that little book could talk! My cold has gone away & I'm back to health. Here's hoping allergy season is mild this year, must start having honey on a daily basis! China was probably a great trip! Did you venture to the Great Wall? What was your favorite "tourist" spot there?
@@PaperandMoose If it´s not "too much privacy", make a "P & M Special" out of it. Yup, I´ve been several times in "Zhong Guo", also climbed the Great Wall (the restored and the not restored part), Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xian (Terrakotta Army), climbed upon the Huashan and Huangshan mountains etc. I´ve been in the East Asia business for a couple of years, so it was obvious to spent some time there. But my Chinese is very poor, not to compare with your knowledge of German. Zai Jian ! 😀
@@fareast_de Oh wow, those must have been great trips! Just seeing photographs & online videos of those places is something, but seeing them in person!
I absolutely love ❤ these short videos Renee. As an ex sailor it could have been longer and I would not complain 😊 For those that have gone to sea as a job you never ever forget it. Bless you Renee for making this video 😊
My grandfather was in the navy but I never knew him. This is a beautiful tribute!! If a picture is worth 1,000 words your montage is worth thousands of them!! Sincere thanks Renee!❤
Wonderful tribute to George and to the Merchant Mariners, including your grandfather. I'll bet the US Merchant Marine Museum in NY would be interested in seeing this. Hard to imagine what a world tour like that would have meant to someone of that time . . . when travel and knowledge of other cultures were much more limited than today. Also being in the bowels of those ships w/o AC - and topside in freezing & boiling weather. And - during the war - the awful losses the MM suffered from submarines even on our coasts. But obviously from these photos there were good times, too! Thanks for this - the music and the backgrounds were spectacular - I really liked that one of the engine room near the end. Hope you had a good flea market day and found the Tote Man. Did you feel the earthquake that hit the Lehigh Valley (yesterday, I think). Have a great Saturday! Gorgeous weather here; hope the same for you.
Thank you, Steve! I can't imagine being out to sea amidst a fighting world... and such a young age at that! What will be lost of our days now with the lack of printed "memories", as most photos rarely make it off of a phone and if so, onto a USB drive. One will be looking for these thumb drives and USBs in several years at flea markets to see what is found on it. I did feel the earthquake on Friday. Had no idea what was occurring at the time, but a whole lot of shaking was going on! After the shaking & rumbling stopped, I thought to myself "Was that an earthquake??" Sure enough! It was the talk of the day for sure. Nice weather this weekend, a good start to the flea market season here today. Hope that you have a great week!
Hello Renee. That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing George with us,he looked so handsome. My husband seen the Panamal canal when he was in the Army. They went to Panamal and were training in the jungle for a while. I can’t remember why they went there initially but he’s told me some stories about the nights and the bugs and coming home sick from drinking water from a stream. He said he put the tablets in it like he was supposed to but he still got sick. It’s funny because this man can drink or eat anything without getting sick from it. But thanks for sharing this wonderful video of George. To all the men and women I say thank you for your service. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🥰🥰🥰☕️🫖☕️🫖☕️🫖🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Watching this video reminded me of my neighbor VINCENT FRISINGA he was a Merchant Marine in WWII Korea and Viet Nam. He was a little guy but he was not afraid of anything he was the best neighbor. RIP Vince i miss you lots.

This was wonderful but to have you narrating would make even better! This concept would make a marvelous series. If you were able to find photos and diaries and/or retell family tales with a picture journal. I love it!
I so appreciate you sharing there pictures. My dad was a Merchant Marine in WWII but no pictures remain. I remember how glad he was to finally be recognized as a vet. I made sure he had that incorporated into his funeral.
Renee, alert, Christmas shelf sitter a_buse, by Taco in video dated April 6, 2020, entitled 'I Bought an Abandoned Storage Unit for $50 and WAS SHOCKED!' at 19.54 + - shelf sitter was tossed about by the pom-pom! How absolutely dreadful! Lol! Have a blessed day 💖✝
My dad was on three merchant ships, two of which sank - both by kamikaze. He died at age 86 still not knowing how he was rescued. Had no recollection of it. Thanks for the memories.
This was incredible to watch, I really enjoyed this video. You put this together so beautifully! I wish I could do something similar for my brother who was in Vietnam. I am not this creative. Great work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You always do a wonderfull tribute. Unfortunate on the non-recognition for the merchant marines, they contributed so much 👍👍
Though it took many years, at least it happened. They played a very important role during the war & deserve the recognition!
