Love fishing spotties at Alamitos bay. One of the best things about fishing for these guys is you don’t need to spend big at all to catch fish and have fun! I still fish a couple cheap spinning combos with light line and never felt like buying an expensive setup is a “must have.”
@@DaveysWorldFishing you can google earth and see the map of the bay. there are 5 or 6 launch sites for boats and plenty of sand for tubes and yaks. Cheap hotels Nah it is San Diego right by sea world

The Komodo is newer than the diawa Coastal. Never used a Komodo but the Coastal hasn't been updated for years. I have one and recently got a tranx 200. The tranx is heavier but seems more robustly built. Love the handles on the daiwa and how light it is combined with a phenix rod tho.
@@loyaltilltheend2500 depends what I'm doing but mostly use it on a Phenix feather 7'3" xh for spotted bass 1-2oz drop shot in heavy current or throwing 5inch swimbaits. Sometimes I stick it on my black diamond inshore 7'6" ml for #20 line fishing on half day boats.
@@loyaltilltheend2500 i fish the new ritual angling rods, the 7'3" medium heavy is perfect for leadhead swimbaits, swimjigs, finesse jigs, dark sleepers, and even medium sized jerkbaits. The Phenix rods are nice, but i wouldnt fish an abyss that is just too much rod for the small fish. Check out the Ritual Angling rods on Tackle Warehouse, they are sick rods designed for this kind of fishing.
Lots of big stingrays and Leos in that bay. Been dragged around on my kayak a couple times. Like using a tandom fluke set up. I always get sad when I see guys at piers keeping spotties, even 12inch non legals.
This is one of the best videos on Spottie fish I've seen. Thanks!
Great video, Ty. Can't get enough of spotties and calicos. Thanks sooo much for sharing all your tips/techniques.
Ty's a stud!

What a great day that was. I’m itching to get back out.
Love Mission Bay..
It was an incredible day.
spotties are always fun.
Love the Komodos! I have the 400 series which i've caught yellowtails on and the little 200 series for fishing the spotties.
A rig looks like overkill. But to each his own. Nice fish!
Hell Yah, Love spottie Fishing, I go to mission bay all the time to catch spotties and halibut, im Try the A-rig next time.
The fishing was incredible. They were all over the A-rig.
Nice... smokin them with that A-rig.
Good job Buddy 🤙🏻 let’s fish soon
I’d be using like 10lb braid, what are those things breaking you off on? Kelp???
I catch big spotties where you dock your boats.
Nice day!
It was epic.
Keep up the goo DC work and please keep making saltwater bass fishing videos
Good work
Awesome
Thanks 👍
Where is a boat ramp in that area? Any cheap hotels nearby that could accommodate a small boat?
Gene Davella We launched at Dana Landing. Great free launch.

Is it legal to use Alabama rig in California?
three hooks with the rest being teasers.
Big fan, but I have a question on the rig. I thought you could only fish three hooks, is that correct?

How would you compare it to the daiwa 200 TWS coastal ?
