  • Looking for a leak in this rubber flat roof. It looks to be coming in around the EPDM pipe flashing.

I am an EPDM roof contractor. You are correct. You would see the cleaner and primer around the area the witches hat sits on. The black lap sealant was not feathered and worked correctly. The whole roof looks bad. Good work 👍

tHanks that was fun. Amazing how just a small tear can cause such a headache. Have a great weekend.

Wish you were in Ohio man. My roof needs someone that knows what they’re doing. It’s so hard to find a good contractor in my area it’s almost scary

Let me try......I always wanted to fix a roof.
(I think it was Amaco Transmissions that had a commercials where a proper voice tells the story about where to go to get your trans repaired. Then the camera pans to some guy holding a garden hose saying those words.)

Is that the finished roof? If so, who the heck fitted the EPDM? Shocking installation!

So I wanted to adhere some shingles that are slightly loose like lifting and I see plastic roof cement so would this still work for the asphalt shingles? It says leak repair but I’m not doing a leak repair on flashing or around a vent so I want sow, thing like a tar in a tube to be able to apple a few dots and press down the edges. I won’t be putting any on the key ways

Those shingles behind you @0:11 any idea what those are called? There's a house in my neighborhood with those.

Lap Sealant doesn't seal it only last long enough to cure the right way to fix this is to prime down a 18x18 sa rubber patch then prime down a new witches hat always on top edge from up the roof strip in with ps4020 then lap seal it with proper lap sealant I fucking hate when someone relies on caulking for a fix like this silicone makes primer never sticks properly ever again this is a bs fix sorry bud I always love your repairs but this is B's all day and only a lazy man would have installed the clamping ring and not cut the tail off anotger pet pieve of mine oh yeah always use a water cut off mastic to seal the pipe around cut hole and also under clamping ring section then use a none skinning butahl caulk around top of witches hat above clamping ring prefer myself to use elevate (Firestone) ap sealant ✌️

At 2:36 I was saying there's more rain just off to the west and rain the rest of the week. This is strictly to stop the water from coming in. I did not charge for it either.

At least its an easy fix. Cut the old boot off, cut the wrinkles flat running through the pipe flashing, put a new target, seal, new boot, clamp and seal.

Holy cow, That flat roof was laid up very poorly. It's imperative to minimize any wrinkles because then you get "fish-mouth" openings at your base flashings, walls, curbs... doesn't matter. If the sheets were nice and flat as possible, then the your plys will adhere better.
I'd would explain to the Homeowner that. Look this is a flat roof, they tend to leak very easy if not done properly.. whoever installed this roof wasn't the brightest.. the prudent course of action is to replace.. repairs can be done.. but that will eventually lead to a replacement anyway. My biggest fear is I sell you a repair and then you experience more water intrusion/damage, more frustration and again in need of another resolution.
I enjoy your vids a lot, it's not always easy to explain things to homeowners and you can be somewhat eloquent with your descriptions and I used them before to explain things. Keep it up Broski!

Do you know of any proven way to insulate a mostly unheated garage in the northeast? Have you seen insulated garages that work?
