Veteran who is a civilian paramedic here. I've seen both sides of it. I think the root of the problem for both comes from losing direction. Who am I am where am I going? This can happen when you are in the service and it definitely gets worse when you get out.
I like how this podcast and those like theory of man and Mike glover hit on all of these topics. Thank you guys.

I'm a fireman and the only authentic firefighting show I've ever seen is Emergency. The only thing it's missing is the bums and the drunks and the chronically sick 911 abusers.

On Labor Day the USFS sent out agency wide a update to firefighter pay by a true 50% but this morning said sorry it was a mistake you are still going to lose your pay bonus September 30th. They treat us awful and EVERYONE who is experienced in the job I know is leaving.
