- So last friday we had the live letter and while we sadly didn't hear anything about Chat Bubbles, we did pretty much hear about everything else. New raids, new dungeons, hardcore content for 4-man, tataru, hildibrand, new weapons, Island Sanctuaries, DC travel. The list goes on and on. Here's Mike's thoughts on the live letter and make sure to stick around for info on our greatest FF14 party yet.

Evening lovelies. I hope you enjoyed the intro since making it almost gave me an aneurysm 😂 also stick around to the end, I put in a little montage of what we have in store for Saturday.
It looked really good! I'm watching on my phone so there is that, but I kept looking for some green screen or clipping and didn't catch it. Really smooth work!
@@osvaun there is absolutely places where the mask slips, but with a background like that behind them it really is inevitable short of rotoscoping frame by frame

Preach is quickly becoming my favorite content creator for FFXIV. His preseenatiation is top notch, he's entertaining, and he clearly does his research. Keep up the good work Preach!

Now you know why WoW lasted as long as it did. Big part of it was people like Preach pushing out quality content despite the in game draught and crimes Blizzard committed.

Right?? I’m so glad to have him covering this content. I was hoping for asmongold to be more involved but I realise now he’s more about drama than actual gaming. I enjoy preach much much more. So grateful for him.
Man..seeing the Preach arc over the past year to becoming one of the giants in ff14 content creation brings a tear to my eye. Seeing someone come over and realizing how much this game has to offer and giving the dev team and staff their well deserved dues. Praise this man, he has done so much to help grow this game in a short amount of time.
Holy shit, the event trailer is so fucking sick! Especially the rejoining part. Preach is probably the best event organizer in 14 right now.

Everyone talks about Alphi or Estinien or Emet's character arcs, but I'm talking about Preach's. Mythic raider sweat-turned-Final Fantasy RP enjoyer. Has anyone tried to do a 9-house ward-sized block party yet?
From the looks of it, it's more like it's just a full ward party with 9 houses. The biggest event by far is probably Lunarcon by Shenpai and her team. It involved 2-3 wards if I'm not mistaken.
AFAIK Tonberry Night Market and Lunarcon were the big ones

The Legendary Manderville Weapons (saying the full name is mandatory) are almost certainly not the contest weapons. Contest items are generally implemented as Gold Saucer prizes or crafted or stuff like that.
You could say it's... Mandertory.

Yeah, the Relic weapons always follow a theme or are all consistent with a certain design. I also don't think they are the contest weapons.
Also it is way too close from the announcement of the winners and the upcoming patches. Also the contest didn't have any Reaper and Sage weapons.

Agreed. The option to turn them off, on or limited like action effects from other players would be great.
Well, there is a plugin for chat bubbles. Not the best, but pretty good.
@@NicolasSzymanski Plugins are mods and quite a few people are skittish enough about mods that they don't want to risk it since technically they're against TOS even with the team's neutral stance on them. Having them built into the game proper will help ease people's concerns over mods.
@@DameonStarflame they can barely detect pvp cheats let alone visual mods. no one will catch you using them unless you actively show people that you are using them on stream

Can't wait to see the new content, glad to see you are excited for most things and candid for the things you don't care much for. Even for the island sanctuary you seem very excited, not to play it, but at the prospect of people enjoying themselves.

Good to know I am not the only one who pretty much only installed Mods for the bloody Speech Bubbles. I cannot play without.
I love that FAP and VAG are a part of it.

Preach and his team consistently make high quality content. I am really glad that we have him (and the greatest FC, to ever exist, the Crawlers) in FFXIV.
Just remember, servers are pretty good now during the time between expansions, but when major content updates come the group who took a break always come back to do the story.

I feel attacked
I know you thought it sounds facetious to say that this patch has more content than a WoW expansion (especially Dragonflight), but it's true. Islands do seem like a game-within-a-game, and the amount of things they've announced for it seems insane. Although they did say that what other players do won't affect your economy, so I don't think it's a co-operative market thing. Variant dungeons could be interesting, where the "punishment" for losing is that you wasted your time, which should be enough, instead of some tacked-on system like depletion. Add in some QoL stuff like glamour dresser capacity being doubled, and the ability to request repairs from other players, and this patch looks to be a banger. And that's to say nothing about the MSQ, the new dungeon, or the new trial, which we know will be great.
I hope the islands turn into xiv version of animal crossing in a way lol

And yes the shit we got last patch is content, msq, side quests, 24 man raid tier, new crafting, gathering and yes even custom deliveries.
All content. It may not be for you, but it is for others. Just as the content you probably are autismoing for is raids (even though you got the new 24 man raid last patch), dungeons and other combat oriented stuff may not be for some others.
You know the patch order and when you can expect content that’s for you and content that isn’t. I don’t understand why you seem surprised or irritated by what we got last patch when we knew what we were getting.
@@starjun8144 I too can dismiss things in my head and act like it's reality. Normal raids, alliance raids, more main story, the new omega quest being one of the best secondary quest line in the game, a new pvp mode with a revamped pvp system, the new ultimate, etc. And that's not even counting the stuff that's considered "content" they've worked on, like reworking ARR stuff, a new housing ward, which take a lot of resources.
I decided none of this exists actually, checkmate.

The big change with savage being delayed is that we have already had it - but only at the start of the expansion. (previously: expansion drops, the first normal tier drops after enough time for the first wave of levelers finish, and then two weeks after they drop savage - and then the next 2 tiers would drop normal and savage at the same time). Most people do seem very excited about it!
FF have done a great job of bolting on additional non-compulsory content. The golden saucer, TT and housing alone are very much content in their own rights.
Don't forget the mahjong gangs
They're minigames that aren't connected to the main gameplay loop at all...if you want to do any of that, there's better games for it, so I really don't see the point in them tbh
Reminder that collecing all TTT cards basically needs you to play almost all the content the game has to offer but the highest endgame raids.

@@amsaa91 I learned and ate shit in mahjong in the Yakuza games, Doman mahjong is the same as it's the Japanese variation.
So many of the former WoW folks have caught up to current now, and I'm happy to welcome them to the cult ceremonies of Live Letter and Teaser. May the physical print-outs held up by Yoshida ever show you fantastic glam opportunities.
It's actually kind of sad when you catch up and see how shallow the endgame is. I miss being excited about stuff to come while leveling :/
@@niklasstahl98 If you find it shallow, that's your cue to suspend your sub and play something from your backlog! Thousands of other games out there are waiting to fascinate you while nothing particularly interesting to you is happening here. My wife fit two FE3H playthroughs in between 6.0 and 6.1, for example. If the service isn't giving you what you want, you absolutely shouldn't pay for it!

SE tying the next relic weapon improvements is brilliant. Because it will work very well storywise to fashion a legendary weapon that a certain weapons fanatical villian will maby want to steal 🙂👍
This also builds very well up to my suggestion to a potential Gilgamesh Ultimate that I have suggested on the SE forums.
Just today, I started levelling my rogue purely for cosplay! I just might bounce over to Chaos on Saturday and see if anyone can guess who I'm glamming as!

I don't get why people are upset over the weapons being linked to the Hildebrand questline. For Bozja, I had to do the previous alliance raids. It's not new to require previous content.

These 6.X patches have been huge. I know they hired a bunch of new devs and likely because FF16 is in the last year so some devs are finishing up with that, but damn, these patches are getting bigger and bigger. I thought 6.1 was huge.

@@niklasstahl98 6.1 had MSQ, a dungeon, PVP Revamp along with Crystalline conflict, Hildibrand, the Ultimate, short stories, the first alliance raid, new role quests, Ishgard housing, new unreal, duty support for ARR, revamped a lot of duties in ARR, an extreme trial and I could probably keep going. But yes if you ignore 90% of the patch you can say it was a small patch.
@@dominicauger3469 Yeah, like 10 hours of content except for the ultimate and PvP (which is a joke without anti cheat lets be honest). Most of the side stories only came 2 months later anyway

The hildibrand weapons are most likely going to be the new relic weapons, not the contest weapons
... I completely forgot that they picked both "silly" and "serious" entries for that contest.

@@sirthanksalot97 Not the worst thing in the world if they are. That just means that either A) You will have the option of building one of the non-joke weapons. Godbert is one of the world's greatest craftsman after all. Or B) There will be another method to get those non-joke weapons. Either way, all the contest design winners were pretty great.

The contest weapons will either be: Gold Saucer/some other content, or just one step of the questline. Relics have a whole bunch of stages where they get more and more elaborate/cool looking, I can see them being just step 1 where Hilibrand fucks it up and then Godbert and Gerolt fix them (they are literally world-class smiths, they don't make jokes).
I like Hiidabrad. I'm not in the camp of I love it but I enjoy having some comdey relief.

I have been wanting to see some FF4 inspired stuff in FF14 for a while, especially after Omega Deltascape came out. I loved the new versions of FF5 music and wanted FF4 to get the same treatment

I don't think it will be the case but I hope there will be an FC version of the Island Sanctuary. My FC isn't really interested in our house being in a neighborhood that can bee seen and visited by others. We just use our house for all the amenities we can jam in there. It's a shame we take up a space for people who do want to use a plot to it's fullest potential. Boot us to a remote island and let more ambitious players have our plot.
I've watched this video 3 times now. Couldn't tell you why. Maybe its just the Satisfactium of looking forward to the game.
Anyone who has played a lot of Deep Dungeons would probably look at Criterion Dungeon as pretty much the next potential evolution from Deep Dungeon but actual scaling challenge for 4 people, since Deep Dungeon doesn't scale with more people, and the final reward is essentially meant for solo challenge, it makes sense that they would find ways from it create a new actual small party hard mode.
I wonder how it scales with your gear though, or if it hard scales you like Deep Dungeon, where only special food buffs will increase your stats, or some new systems Or if they just put Deep Dungeon and Eureka Baldesion Arsenal together for 4-man play. If it's the later, it might be extremely interesting, if there's enough reward content behind it as well.
Man I really wish we had a big NA streamer that could pull off some events like this in FF, there are def plenty of small ones but big huge events like this to unite the communities would be epic! I am lowkey jealous that I don't have a European character capped out to full enjoy Preach and Zeplas events. Either way have fun everyone!

5.3 is probably the GOAT, especially since it was the first COVID patch and they had to completely reconfigure how they worked to deliver it. And boy did we need that story in that moment in that way.
Wasn't 5.3 also the patch where Sokennwas like "oh, yeah, I composed that while I was dieing from cancer" too?

The reason I like the idea of the island retreat is that it gives me something where I don't have to go through the torture of getting a house and then spending game currency to decorate. The island system is free (no torture) with a separate currency that I can decorate my way with plenty of room and then show it off to my visitors. That is what has me excited about it mainly.

Island Sanctuary will be a go to for everyone loving Harvest Moon games...they will remain there with their friends for ages to come.

Man I wanna attend the party but I don't have an alt yet lol. I think the only way other than story skip is to make a friend with someone in Spriggan who has an Empyreum property and estate teleport to Empyreum.
If you message any crawler they will help you out and friend you for that teleport.

I actually don't have a strong opinion about the Hildibrand weapons. I haven't done the quest line yet, but that's mostly because I've just been saving it for a day when I have nothing to do.
That said, I'm hoping at least some of the weapons from it are cool. I'm fine with a joke stage or some joke/silly options, but if they all end up looking like Gold Saucer weapons I'll be a little let down.

I just started playing FF4 the other day but i play the gba version on my gbaplayer/gamecube combo on my big tv, so many things from 4 are in ff14, i was surprised haha
