The late 70's and early 80's were a great time to ride, Had a KZ1000, now a Z900. Would rather be back at Sears Point watching Wes Cooley on his Yoshimura GS1000. All these bikes were extremely cool. Thanks for the video....
This is the era that I grew up in. These motorcycles had so much more character and soul than motorcycles today. Today they all look the same. Back then you could tell them all apart. If I ever have another motorcycle, it's going to be a race replica of one of these.
These were true superbikes. Powerful inline 4 cylinder engines with no abs, traction control, or power modes. Just pure power and enjoyment. Mean looking too. Love all of them. Japanese riders seem much more dedicated than do american. riders. You guys have the passion and it shows.
I'm 50 years old and just built a new ZX10RR Race Bike and began racing again after many years I should get into vintage racing as well sense I'm vintage! Your never too old so get out there and do it again. I feel 30 years younger sense I started racing again. Gives you a reason to stay healthy and in shape. Don't sit on the couch watching football on Sunday get out and race !
Back in the early eighties I built as close as I could to the actual bike, a Wes Cooley GS 1000 replica superbike with dymag 3 spoke wheels, Yoshimura stage 2 cams, fully ported head, big valves, 33 mm Mikuni Smoothbores, frame modified to Yoshimura specifications, etc. Now in 2024 I'm doing it again, with a 1976 Kawasaki Z900!
Let the good times roll! Got addicted to Superbike racing by these machines and owned a Honda CB900F Bol d'or and newer models later. These bikes are built for men.
Thanks so much for posting. This brings me back to Laguna Seca and Sears Point in the early 80's, watching Lawson, Spencer, et al slide and wheelie just about every turn. This video is a big taste of that.
I attended many races at Laguna and Sears, starting in the last days of the old 1000cc Superbike class. Seeing Lawson, Spencer, Cooley, Baldwin, Wise, Peitri, Wolf, Klinzman, and others riding the wheels off of those big machines was the best show around. It's just not been the same since 1982.
Very very cool. In 1985 I bought my first bike at 17 years old - 1979 KZ1000 MKII bored out to an 1105 with a series 3 cam. Have no idea what my parents where thinking. I broke a valve and sold it - now it's really hard to find this model bike. I enjoy seeing these bikes coming alive again.
Fantastic to see the bikes I grew up with . Great to see them racing again and looking so good. Cool video, thank you for translation into English. Excellent 👏👏👏👍🇬🇧
This is beyond cool. I was bummed when it was over. I had a GPz550 that I raced the crap out of in the early '80s. I go to vintage races, but this is all of the early '80s 2 valve big bore bikes on the track at once..very cool. Yes, I saw the CB750F 4 valve; and I likely missed a big GS 4 valve or two. That's why I need to go there!! Fantastic upload!!
Todd Wright , Todd, I literally just picked up an 83 GPz550 about a month ago, its the bike I LUSTED after in high school but couldnt afford. Im 51 now. My 550 is an absolute survivor, still has the stock exhaust which is in amazing shape. I raced from 1998 to 2003, mostly lightweight class bikes and supermoto, now Im a slow street guy lol. I absolutely love my GPz550, I couldnt be happier!
@iahock59 Dam man Im glad you were ok and recovered and were able to keep tearing it up! I had the experience of riding a 1982 GPZ1100 with a Kerker exhaust on it when I was 16! Working at the I-95 Sunoco in Canton MA on Neponset St back in 1984, one of the “regulars”(account guys) saw me wrenching on my 1980 YZ125G , and we got to talking. Well one Sunday he pulled in on that frickin beautiful Kawi with a smoking hot girl on the back, and after some chit chat, he let me take that 1100 for a ride. Well three gears worth of Neponset St had me terrified beyond belief, and its possible I wasnt a virgin somehow after that ride, but I never did the math lol. Anywho, that turned into me fixing his unbelievably pristene 1978 Honda CR250R ( a half dollar sized hole in the piston!) and then selling it for him for $800.00. If we only knew what life had in store for us right? I remember that experience like it was yesterday, thanks for the trek down M Lane. That mans name was Paul Bernard, worked for the yellow van company CCA( Continuing Care Associates) delivering oxygen and med supplies to people at home. Fucking crazy what we remember
Sign me up. I own a 75’ Kawasaki Z1b. I even know the track. Problem is Tsukuba is long way away from me. 6148 miles or 9894.25 kilometers doorstep to doorstep to be exact. 🇺🇸 Thank you Japan for all the great motorcycle I’ve owned over the past 50 years. Go Team Green.
Very cool. Most enjoyable. Wish there was something like that in the UK too. (would have preferred if the backing music was a bit quieter at the end, so I could hear the final comments properly though). Excellent coverage, great bikes from my era! :)
Lovely but is there a version with org Japanese lang and eng subtitles? I have used my old Bandit 600(mk1) to get into bike racing. Worked pretty good until the engine blew up(the cdi that allowed for 500extra rpm or what it was compared to later models).
What are you talking about, Tsukuba is FAR SAFER than the IOM, no comparison, this is a short , tight track, 2nd and 3rd gear with one straight and only about 200kph on the straight...
How long, if ever, did it take Kawasaki to figure out their swing arm problem on their 900/1000 Z models. They seem popular here. To many talking and singing at once

I need more of this in my life.
in 1979 I owned a MK2 1000 . loved that bike
Brings back memories....I owned a '78 GS1000 back in '78 to '82 with Yoshimura engine parts, smooth bore carbs...fun times.
Thanks for uploading! I owned some KZ 1000 in the past. Greatings from Germany !
Love these bikes and these riders are great . I own a GS1000, KZ1000, GSXR1100 and VF750F . Love em
Very cool. Great to see the 80’s bikes racing again !
I really love those big kawasaki's of the 70's and 80's. They were the blueprint of modern motorcycles.

Super cool video, thanks for dubbing it for all of us who do not speak japanese! Really appreciating this! Greetings from a German Z Kawasaki lover!
Fantastic to see the bikes I grew up with . Great to see them racing again and looking so good. Cool video, thank you for translation into English. Excellent 👏👏👏👍🇬🇧
Thank you. This is fantastic. I just wish I had kept some of the bikes I had in the 80’s.
Amazing seeing these proper flexi Superbikes being hammered , much appreciate the English Translation .
Thanks ! We will do my best to make a new one. [ MSTV staff ]

Great vid! Fantastic bikes and riders! Golden era of motorcycle racing! I ❤️ Motor Station TV
Cool Bikes! Nicely done. Very Authentic looking. Wish they had that here in the US
I would love to see this formula of racing in the uk. I used to own a Honda cb900f in the 80s had it for 10 years, great bike...
Blooming fantastic! 👍👍👍👍
Saw some races in the late 70s early 80s at Laguna and Sears Point. Those big 4s were a handful.
Had a 78 z1R. Man I wish I still had it!! Great video!!
Enjoyed the differing riding styles & even the lines taken, but mostly the beautiful bikes. The Z1000 seems fastest but the Z900 looks best
Good old Times and Racing with Passion ! 😁🤙😍
Excellent video.

Amazing but the camera positions on track was weird!!!
Can’t see the bikes kkkk
Excellent
I love the old bikes. I want to come to Japan and ride some of those bikes! Does anybody have a loaner bike I can ride?

Holy crap that place makes the IOM look safe.

@@MickH60 Yeah. Thats the place Kevin Schwantz did a few laps and said no way. Kevin Schwantz!
The grip of modern tires should magnified the noodle frame .
18 inch wheels should be standard world wide for historic bikes
I'm working on a kit to fit 85/86 gsxr wheels to GPZ/KZ liter bikes.
Roz Rutherford
Fuckin green machine!!!
just imagine if Eddie Lawson was there....
Or Kenny Roberts ?

👍🏍
