Epic Motorcycle Touring in Iceland: A Journey of Untamed Beauty [S4-E3]

- September 1st, 2022: My Icelandic journey continues! On this 3rd day i spend some time visiting tourist attractions: Dimmuborgir lava field and Dittufoss, one of the largest waterfalls in Europe! Per Icelandic standards I have all sorts of weather this day as well; sun, wind and drizzles of rain.
Route description:
I started my day in Myvatn, just a few minutes away from Dimmuborgir. I continued to the east side of Dettifoss following Road 1 and road 864. After 56 kilometers on brutally bumpy roads I enter road 85 and follow it west through Husavik and eventually back onto Road 1. Just a few kilometers further west I check into Hótel Edda Stórutjarnir for the night.

The stark beauty of Iceland is captivating. I like how your calm, soft voice matches the calmness of the surroundings. I can not imagine, though, what riding on that washboard would have been like. Interesting why your card was getting rejected. Did you ever find out why? Thanks for the background on the volcanic surface. Funny joke lol. Beautiful photography. Great episode. Brings back a lot of memories. Was there two weeks after you were there. Had the time of my life. Not so busy with tourists. Did a roundtrip around the Island counter clockwise. The beauty of the country was beyond my expectation. Was very lucky to see some whales at the point at the 12:00 minute mark in the video. Yes and the road to and from the Dittufoss waterfall was indeed very terrible to ride. It was also a great place to make som asome video with the drone flying and me driving the car and nobody to see. :-) Looking foreward to the next episode.
I really enjoyed this video, but I was a bit disappointed that you skipped Ásbyrgi (the canyon where you had the coffee after the bad road), it's one of the most beautiful places in Iceland, and Goðafoss, a few km from the hotel you stayed in. It's one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. I'm dying to get a bike again after watching your videos (and Itchyboots). Looking forward to the next one through my hometown Akureyri.
This is why I absolutely have to go back! There were so many places I did not know of before going there. I am sure I could spend several months exploring your beautiful country 😊

What a joy to revisit the coast road to Húsavík through your footage… the afternoon sun over Skjálfandi bay is something I will never forget and it was so wonderful seeing it again through your eyes!!

That waterfall at Dettifoss, Vatnajökull National Park was also the film location for a opening scene of Prometheus (2012). Beautiful scenary and a wonderfull ride. Thanks

Nice video and useful informations for a trip in Iceland. Fit your moto with a side stand extension it's easier to park in sand or mud. In corrugated track (bumpy track), 50/60 km/h is better than low speed.
So, you just passed through Húsavík? They have a very cool whale museum. I'm gonna go there one day.....
