HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Aubrey Griffin scored 19 points, and No. 5 UConn topped No. 21 Villanova 63-58 on Sunday.
Dorka Juhasz added 16 points and Aaliyah Edwards had 13, including some key free throws for the Huskies (20-2, 12-0 Big East) in the team's 13th straight win.
Maddy Siegrist scored 25 points for Villanova, which won here a year ago to hand the Huskies their last conference loss. Lucy Olsen had 19.
The Wildcats (18-4, 9-2) had won nine in a row.
The Wildcats led 51-45 with eight minutes left, but UConn went on a 15-4 run for a 60-55 advantage with 51 seconds left.
Lucy Olson's 3-pointer made it a two-point game with 22 seconds left. But Edwards hit three late free throws to secure the win.
Siegrist gave Villanova the lead at 34-33 on a pair of free throws, part of a 12-0 run. The Wildcats outscored the Huskies 15-10 in the third quarter and led 45-43 going into the fourth.
Griffin put the Huskies back in front with a three-point play on a driving layup with 3:48 left in the game.

The girls looked tired today. We need Caroline back soon and hopefully Azzi will be back come March. We would’ve won by 20 if Lou’s shots were falling but she had an off game, which had to eventually happen at some point. Great game from Aubrey. Plus Villanova is a really good team, I could see them making the sweet 16.
I totally disagree that we would have "won by 20 points". Villanova played good defense against Lou since they know she averaged 17 PPG and played her best against Tennessee just last week. Siegrist only shot 39% (9/23) when she averages 52% per game. If Siegrist shot close to her average, we would have lost. Villanova also was able to drive through gaps into the lane many times.

I wish this coach would tell Nika to shoot more. She should be attempting a minimum of 10 shots a game.
I hope the viewers realize the level of effort that goes into making these. These aren't just edits stitched together, the person is intentionally deciding and choosing when to fade the audio out, and when to let the audio of the next clip sync back up, so you get a full, meaningful comment from the commentator. The clips also aren't just successful possessions, each play is chosen for a reason.

Someone in another thread brought up a good point. UConn ladies were exhausted whereas Nova had a week of rest. Nuff said.

On reviewing the vid the blocking call on Lou at 8:14 was totally ridiculous.
Way to go ladies but I think we need some rest and then get back to UConn basketball and play tougher defense but a win is a win...if Paige and Azzi were in the game it would have been a no contest but overall a win is a win. Thanks for letting me comment.
Great win! Having so many recurring injuries probably means the training staff is not good enough...
The training staff has nothing to do with a head-on collision, a torn knee in a pick-up game, knee-on-knee collisions, or torn knee caps during scrimmages.

I am not a basketball fan..but I love UConn! I mean they struggle on with top players out. Our Canadian gal , Edwards is a stud! WNBA holds no interest for me at all but Uni B ball is fun! It is the passion of the team and the school which makes the difference.

UConn‘s top two scores are injured, and we have 4 really good players on our bench who are injured.
After our starting 5 players today, our 4 best bench players are injured.
So UConn bench only played 6 total minutes today.
