The Rose Glow and Carmine pens must have been quite popular with the ladies of the era. My grandmothers pen which I was never ever ever allowed to touch was a Sheaffer Balance in Rose Glow. The Waterman's and all the rest I could fiddle with but never HER pen.
Thanks for sharing this pen, Brian. I have been collecting some vintage Sheaffers, and I am excited to see how many you have been listing lately. As soon as I am able, I hope to start getting some from you.
Thank you!
I happened upon one of these military clip balances, and I thought: “what the heck is a sheaffer 400?” This clears it up!
My first pen show purchase was the same pen only in Brown! I've always been attracted to the WWII era pens - so much history.
I too have a military clip Balance in brown. It has a fine nib and is an excellent writer. It's one of my favorites to use.

Beautiful pen and the knowing it belonged to your Grandmother makes it even nicer.
Thanks for sharing a special pen. Is this model also known as Vigilant, or is that the plunger filler version?
