Why won’t they increase the battery of their iPads? The iPad Air 4, 5 and 6 all has the exact same capacity and the iPad mini 4, 5, 6 and 7th generation has the same capacity as well.
Very disappointed that they don’t just give it the A18 chip. This was the one iPad release that I’ve been waiting for. Edit: still gonna see how it performs for gaming since the iPad Mini 6 handles most games better than its iPhone counterpart.
The fact that Apple didn't include a smart connector with a first party keyboard isn't a downgrade because they've never supported this for any ipad in the mini line. Very misleading on your part. Also, the nano sim tray is still available for most regions outside the US so don't include the whole world in your statement.
Without 120Hz display and face ID. This just seems like it's a complete waste of money to me. Kind of sad really, because I'd love to buy one of these to take with me when I go camping.
Wow what a bust. Great vid as always. I have the 6 mini with a SIM card I use for travel, trade shows and Netflix. With no M chip, no reason to upgrade.
What model of M chip do you want? A17 Pro is already outperforms M1. Do you need M2 or M3 that will kill the battery of the mini within 1-2 hours? For what? For Netflix? I assume that you don’t need M chip to run TV-shows, lol. You don’t need to buy any new iPad for content consumption if you already own the mini 6. And M chip isn’t a reason.
My question is: what couldn't we do with ipad mini 6 due to its CPU or Ram so we'll now able to do with the A17 Pro? Short answer: Nothing. For an ipad mini 6 user perspective any improvement on the table.
Removal of the Nano sim is a DEALBREAKER. I swap out the sim between my iPhone and my iPad Air Cellular constantly, when my iPhone dies i have a backup device.
As always, if you have the "last gen" model (Mini 6 in this case), there's no strong reason to upgrade. For the majority of customers. I know, more RAM in Mini 7 but Mini 6 will work great for most users. Mini 6 got USB 5 Gbps bus which is great. So it's not the older slower 480 Mbps. Mini 7 got 10 Gbps which is a nice upgrade but this is not a big reason to upgrade from Mini 6. But if you have Mini 5 or older then it's good to be aware of these differences and you might prefer Mini 7 with better specs. The only iPads now with hardware raytracing are: IPad Pro M4 iPad Mini A17 Pro HW RT came to A17 & M3 (N3B). So not yet in iPad Air that got M2. We will probably see iPad Air M3 next year.
The iPad mini 6 is the only Apple device I have that I like. I had high expectations with the new iPad mini and I'm super disappointed Apple does the same thing over and over again. no major change. I expected fewer frames. better camera. better screen resolution.
Thanks to this review, I know you’re not a honest reviewer, but strictly a content creator. Everything is sh!t yet you make everything sound positive 👍🏽
Absolutely, I wouldn't recommend the switch either. Stick to what you have, it's not much bigger and it's already proven good. This is more of a warehouse cleaning model, you shall not miss out on anything really.
Is it mind-boggling to keep the same price as last year while having better features, what are you talking about, don't they update them every year and keep the same price? By your reasoning you would think that then a device would end up having an infinite price.
I'm upgrading as I'm having a lot of issues dealing with the 64gb iPad mini 6 (which is only about 50gb of usable memory). I also would love to get 8GB RAM at the 4GB doesn't cut it anymore and always find apps and tabs constantly reloading. It's also thr cheapest access for me into Apple Intelligence as I won't be upgrading to the iPhone 16 this year ( though I will have it on my 16 inch M1 Pro). For me it's great price for an 8GB iPad mini with 128gb storage. It's a much better buy than the iPad mini 6 was. What I would love to know is if the iPad mini will get the 35w charging speeds like the iPhone 16 did, especially as they upgrading the USB-C to double the transfer speeds. I would hate that the iPad mini is still charging at 20w considering it's a bigger battery than the iPhone 16 so takes longer to charge. It'll also be interesting to know if they bumped the battery capacity slightly as Apple Intelligence will require more power
So disappointed that they haven't announced a mini pro with lidar. When my eyes crossed on the A17 "pro" I thought that would mean that camera as well. But sadly not. Big loss for enterprise.
to be honest i would have snapped one up IF they had upgraded the screen from 60hrtz , i will just buy a 256gb mini 6 second hand with a 2 year warrenty here in the UK
I used to believe the myth that Apple Pencil 2 doesn't work with M4 iPad Pro is because the landscape camera is in the way of the charging coil, but now the iPad mini with portrait camera is here...
Bruh, seriously. Zero reason to "upgrade" from the Mini 6 to the Mini 7. The "extra RAM" is simply so Apple can run the overbloated "Apple Intelligence" nonsense.
I think the iPad mini is a good upgrade if going from an older mini like a mini 5 gen and older but if you have a 6th gen then probably not. The only other thing I wonder does the cellular version get a newer modem or does it use the same modem as the 6th gen?
TBH, I am happy enough with the 6. The performance of the 7 is better but as I do not use the Mini 6 for games or complex programs/apps there seems little reason to upgrade. The only things that may have tempted me would have been some crazy good screen with a corresponding speaker improvement (basically like a Mini Pro).
Absolute rubbish, since day 1 I have regretted the purchase the jelly scroll still annoys the hell out of me. If they didn’t fix this in this version it will be the last mini I buy.
Apple should get rid of 128 GB of storage on every device they own 256 should be their base storage they should’ve put the A18 Pro chip instead and they should’ve put Wi-Fi 7 like the iPhone 16‘s have
Typical modern day apple making extremely minuscule upgrades just to say they have a new product. Literally no reason to spend $500 on a tablet that has potentially a worse processor than your phone, depending on which model you have. Also, for barely any additional screen real-estate if you have a plus or max phone. If they would have stuck an M-Series chip inside, it would be somewhat enticing given some people do want that smaller form factor. Instead we got literally the exact same iPad Mini as the 6, just with an updated processor and storage....they could have at least bumped up the maximum brightness for us, good luck trying to use this thing in sunlight. No external monitor support, TBD if they actually fixed the jelly scrolling issue, no update to the USB-C port. I just don't know who would actually buy this when for just a little more bread you can go to an M-series iPad Air. Only $100 extra dollars and you get a still manageable 11 inch display, M2 chip, 128GB of storage, external monitor support, and support for apple keyboard. I feel like for those people who only care about the form factor of the mini, they'll just keep their mini 6
The a17 pro has faster single core performance than an m2. The iPad mini does support external monitors. Not to the same degree as the Air / pro but it does output to a 4K screen.
well i have the mini 6 no need for upgrade , i have no lag with 30 apps background + work + gaming , if u want to buy a new ipad go for it , if u looking to upgrade, u need extra 150$ for pro pencil ...
It's a good upgrade on the sixth gen iPad Mini, but I wished Apple had put the A18 Pro chip in the new iPad Mini and not the A17 Pro, especially as this device has a long refresh cycle. The A17 Pro was fabricated on the old TMSC 3nm process that was expensive and had low yield issues, and I thought this process was going to be decommissioned. So, what happens if Apple's stock of binned A17 Pro chips runs out?
I get that going from 64GBs to 128GBs can be big in terms of practical value… but a 1TB ssd is $49… the jump from 64GBs to 128GBs is literally going from a $14 part to a $16 part… $2 value increase on a $500 product…
I think IPad mini is designed so it won’t cannibalise the iPhone or the larger Ipads. It’s such a narrow band so it’s all about compromises. For some people, it’s IPhone Pro max and/or IPad Pro. If you really need the iPad mini, you will know it
POINTLESS OLED? Nope LCD brighter? Doubt it More storage? It was short to begin with 120hz? I’m not even gonna check without OLED Great job Let’s see the team photo and who was in charge so I can send them some flowers
I don't quite see why these features are as exciting as advertised. I love my mini but without a liquid retina XDR or Tandem OLED display, I'll stick with what I have. I'm glad they didn't make it larger
Most would consider promotion, an oled display, or greatly enhanced battery life major reasons to upgrade. In this video, unconfirmed speculation that jelly scrolling is fixed is a "MAJOR" reason to upgrade. Losing pink colour and gaining blue colour is a "MAJOR" reason to upgrade. Double dipping on the processor improvement by mentioning the A17 pro and the neural engine of the A17 pro (which is part of the A17 pro) are two separate "MAJOR" reasons to upgrade. Double dipping on enhanced wireless connectivity by splitting wifi and bluetooth into separate reasons are both "MAJOR" reasons to upgrade.

That is such a ridiculous statement. Pretty much everyone can tell that a 60hz phone/tablet is "lagging". It just makes all those powerful chipsets redundant. It feels slower/inferior every time.@@Cattack16_
@@HunterMossberg Lol true 😭
Not everyone wants 120Hz or FaceID. I don’t…which makes this almost perfect.😊
Yep
I would love to have an iPad PRO mini.
That it what I'm dreaming about.
Removal of the Nano sim is a DEALBREAKER. I swap out the sim between my iPhone and my iPad Air Cellular constantly, when my iPhone dies i have a backup device.
My concern is A17 was a power hog on iPhone 5 Pro Max, how will it affect iPad mini battery life.
Also, Apple financing is not available in Canada.
If you have to finance an iPad maybe you can't afford one...
@@Levi-hs6mgor their just doing a normal upgrade strat
Apple gang ya almost tricked me with this one.
As a Pixel user the iPad Mini is perfect to connect with family via FaceTime and iMessage. Also, it's perfect for note-taking and sketching on the go.
I’m on the iPad Pro 3gen 11 inch M1
Tired of the big size should I sell and buy the iPad mini 7 gen.
What a buzzkill. They need an iPad Mini Pro I guess.
iPad mini deserves way more than this from Apple!! Come on..!!! 😢😢😢😢
4:33 ima laugh when its revealed that it hasn't been fixed simply cause Apple could care less 😂
The only iPads now with hardware raytracing are:
IPad Pro M4
iPad Mini A17 Pro
HW RT came to A17 & M3 (N3B).
The pixel density is so high that you can’t even see the pixels. Why would they increase the resolution. Do you just like seeing high numbers? 😂
@Taxiway_Alpha you'd understand if you saw what Samsung does with its screens 🙂
Bruh there ain’t even 10 new things about this new MINI
Would have bought it instantly if they added 120hz display...
This might be the longest time between upgrades for the lest amount of "upgrades". I am a bit disappointed.
Thanks to this review, I know you’re not a honest reviewer, but strictly a content creator. Everything is sh!t yet you make everything sound positive 👍🏽
With that A17 Pro, it’ll be a hot little number, literally!
Hopefully with the large surface area of the Mini it actually helps thermals
I just want an ipad mini pro with 120hz OLED, face id, apple pencil 2 support. I'm tired of carrying a big ass ipad pro.
If they made an iPad mini pro, I’d buy that.
A17pro ain't no joke could be better than M1 so worth the upgrade alone
I was going to trade in m1 ipad pro 11 to get this but i feel like it would be a downgrade in exchange for portability.
Absolutely, I wouldn't recommend the switch either. Stick to what you have, it's not much bigger and it's already proven good. This is more of a warehouse cleaning model, you shall not miss out on anything really.
It's a straight downgrade unless you like the size of the mini
Awesome videos. I'm an Apple user through our house.
I really wanted the sim card. .
Can you suggest a non samsung tablet with sim card. Thank you.
That's what I did, second hand. There is no value with owning Apple with their price to features ratio anymore.
Finally around 2025 we are getting 128 GB as base variant 😅😅😅
Android has this from 2021
Nope my iPhone 16 max is better no reason for 1 inch more screen. All in my pocket no need for multiple devices.
Apple give mini customers what they really want, *9” iPad mini Pro with slimmer bezel*
What is this dude on about, we got a basic spec bump that took them 3 years.
I traded in my Mini 6
For the Mini 7 pre ordered today .
I think the iPad mini is a good upgrade if going from an older mini like a mini 5 gen and older but if you have a 6th gen then probably not. The only other thing I wonder does the cellular version get a newer modem or does it use the same modem as the 6th gen?
iPad mini was supposed to be the smaller iPad Air, of course Apple would try to give the mini the same specs (apart from the chip).
Will it support stage manager. If it does that will be a game changer.
need M processor to have Stage Manager

Jelly Scrolling is not even noticeable unless you’re one of those people 🙄
Apple soon lost brand reputation if they continue like this..
How can I not support Apple Pencil 2, it’s Bluetooth, there’s nothing physically stopping it being supported.
Let’s be fair. Jelly gate is a none existent issue.
People just moan about pretty much everything these days.
Absolute rubbish, since day 1 I have regretted the purchase the jelly scroll still annoys the hell out of me. If they didn’t fix this in this version it will be the last mini I buy.
Apple takes a 💩
Max tech be like:-
Mindblowing 😍🤯 that heavenly smell and smooth texture alone is worth getting a mortgage for.
Imagine
All Apple literally did was upgrading the SoC from A15 to A17 Pro, and this guy can list 10 reasons to upgrade 😂
iPad pro as computer or PC 😅😂😂😂😂
can I have the Mini 6 for 1/2 price somewhere?
What an iPad mini6s, well done apple in 2024. keep your speed in the innovation. Huawei is beating it's ass
Apple should get rid of 128 GB of storage on every device they own 256 should be their base storage they should’ve put the A18 Pro chip instead and they should’ve put Wi-Fi 7 like the iPhone 16‘s have
Where did you get the information about 8 GB RAM from? I see other's mentioning only 4 GB ...
Thanks God I move on to foldable phone..😂
Did they fix the display?
Did you watch the video?
Apple doesnt like the iPad Mini, the iPad Air 11" M2 is much more worth IMO
They do but it’s literally meant for iPad things not editing an entire movie on it or playing God of war ragnarok on it😅
2 huge reasons to avoid it:
60hz display (even now that supports the Pencil Pro)
No second monitor support
well i have the mini 6 no need for upgrade , i have no lag with 30 apps background + work + gaming , if u want to buy a new ipad go for it , if u looking to upgrade, u need extra 150$ for pro pencil ...
When this was released?
Just today
by the look of those bezels, about 8 years ago.
@mostcallmerob - That was a nice one. 👌
Yeah, I think I'll stick to my 6 for the time being
I get that going from 64GBs to 128GBs can be big in terms of practical value… but a 1TB ssd is $49… the jump from 64GBs to 128GBs is literally going from a $14 part to a $16 part… $2 value increase on a $500 product…
I am an iPad mini 6 user and it's amazing
It's crazy that you still celebrate 8GB RAM and 128GB storage in 2024 😂... also for 500$?! lol 😂
I think IPad mini is designed so it won’t cannibalise the iPhone or the larger Ipads. It’s such a narrow band so it’s all about compromises. For some people, it’s IPhone Pro max and/or IPad Pro. If you really need the iPad mini, you will know it
That thumbnail done got me thinking ipad semen 😭😭
For first update in 3 years this is just abysmal
POINTLESS
OLED? Nope
LCD brighter? Doubt it
More storage? It was short to begin with
120hz? I’m not even gonna check without OLED
Great job
Let’s see the team photo and who was in charge so I can send them some flowers
iPad mini is quite a niche product.
If they give what we wants. 120hz. A18 Pro. I don’t mind paying more.
