@@troublekaliman generally they occur close to harvesting, but there are occasions in young wheat because they can start around May or even earlier. the heads form an intricate part of the formation, so I dont think it can happen after harvesting. I witnessed a formation just after dawn, and the corn was folded with just the heads showing, like a mosaic - the stems were completely covered. every blade was in perfect alignment, at a very slight angle compared to it's neighbours, forming into a giant, or very tiny, swirl. the centres of the circles where shaped into stars or little figures - even the circles that were only a few inches in diameter had tiny shapes at the base.

It looks like aforce other than human swirled the crop around, like some type of a wind pattern. It's had to imagine people with boards could do this and not flatten and crush it.
