I like this. Very helpful. Can be used in country of blues. Good lick.
Thanks for the help. I'm learning the second solo to Crossroads and you have to do this very technique on the 19th fret. I figured it out what to do myself but I wasn't sure because it's so hard to fit my two fingers so close together that high up.
Hey, Jody. Thanks for this one. Well done explanation and the little jam at the end showed how many possibilities exist with this. Awesome.
l
That helped a lot - what a great teacher ;-)
Stg thought he was gonna pull a Stairway
@jeremy florence ; welcome to the real guitar world. his axe "isn't" dirty where he can just clean it as you obviously think. it's YEARS of wear on his guitar's neck. it comes from playing...
Demonstrating use of the lick was an eye opener.
:55 almost played stairway to heaven lol
You have to have a high action on vintage style Fenders because the fingerboard radius is so small (7.25") If the action was low the strings would just 'choke' out when you bent it.
Great stuff, thanks for the video
I pick up both of the notes by barring the double stop with my 3rd finger. You do not need to use two fingers for that bend. There are a lot of other fun double stop bends though that you sometimes need four fingers to make sure you bend two notes evenly. But that's a whole different ball game.
Thanks! nice, consice, and with a nice sounding jam track, gotta look you up now lol
I really like the way you teach and of course the way you play, but I wish you could put
some tabliture up there as well.
Thanks for the lessons,
Yours for the Love of the guitar,
RAMBINI
Hi,
i'm starting to learn to play blues and i'm kind of confuse on wich scale has been used in order to build this lick ?
Nice guitar!
jody's the best one!
Sounds like the riff from are you gonna be my girl by jet
I like this juicy little lick. I do prefer 7-5-7 at the end though. The half step doesn't seem in the spirit of the progression. You could even go 5bent up to a seven the release the bend to a light vibrato and a seventh chord to finish.
This guy looks like he'd be from the Sopranos
this guy is an excellent teacher - just wish he'd been around when I was learning 50 years ago - wudda saved me a helluvalotta time! - but maybe spoiled the fun of finding out 4 myself...hmm? Funny thing - a half century ago none of us thought this stuff would last - how wrong can u be!
the pick usually is fault of strings breaking;unless your strings are really old.9's are the best for this kind of bending.watch Bob Kulick'S lesson of Kiss' "All American Man".he bends by pulling the string behind a hammer on.
Loved it. Thanks a bunch. I'll be conning my way off the cotton farm in no time.
really cool, really cool . . .
Does Jody use a very high string action on his Tele?
That's the impression I have for watching this.
So high action is better for bending?
X 77🔃?
I know it's easier with a flattened finger but tonally it sounds better with two fingers. Unless you can grab both strings with one pad of your third finger then tonally it's the similar.
Reminds me of Fool for Your Stockings by ZZ Top. I think he's using hammer ons and pull offs though.
Or maybe sliding up and down a fret quickly.
it's all about your technique. J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. has really high action. it's all about how you attack the strings.
is this for the E shape of the A chord ? or is this for the A shape of the D chord ?
im a beginning guitarist lol so my queston is...wont the strings snap from bending the strings that far up????
I've stolen some great stuff from Jody, but when demonstrating a lick, please just play the lick first in the demo. Not everybody likes the same licks and it sucks to have the lick explained for minutes before its played and then discover you don't like it anyway.
Lifehack: Skip to the end, hear if you like it, and if so return to the beginning.
anybody know what key this is in? i'm think A or Amin? maybe?
rock and roll ain't noise pollution!!!
just play the damn lick omg
Was waiting there like an idiot on my guitar... thinking the same damn thing haha
write "hernan gonzalez country boy" it's amazing!!
Wow, for once I had actually found this lick before I watched the video.
Just your bare hands. Do you usually wear gloves? lol
I'm sure when he filmed this video, the number thing he was worrying about was negative youtube ratings. RUclips was probably not invented yet when this was recorded.
great white uses this on "rock me"
stop me,
drop me,
roll me thru the nite (cuz the stage is on fire)
@triggerex33 A dorian (Amin6)
Agreed. The only problem is that you have to jump your hand out of position. Neither way is perfect.
2019!?
honestly, I just do it with one finger. it's easily in my opinion.

@vapegenie
You mean, "...whack you out".... you do.....right?

not at all =P
That guitar is pretty beat up. You might want to save up $$ and buy a new one.
nope
Go to 2:58 if you want to actually hear the lick and see if you want to learn it - it could save three minutes of your life....
