Beatles Cartoon STEREO - I Am the Walrus

  • Unlike older stereo versions of this song, AND the 2009 remastered "Magical Mystery Tour" CD, this does NOT revert to rechanneled fake stereo after the second verse.
    From...2008 (new!). A routine day's drive takes a bizarre turn into a strange realm of eggmen, space-walruses, and uncertain identity!

      NO, you are not.
      Its pink for a frame or two before it changes to white, at which point your brain recontextualises it as a light bulb. But it’s unquestionable what it seems to be at first. That cannot possibly NOT be deliberate. Dirty fuckers.
      I was waiting for that line to see if they even included it. I’m surprised they even kept it in rather than editing it out. Maybe American audiences didn’t realise “knickers” were exactly the same thing as “panties” in 1968.
      But I certainly didn’t expect THAT!

    Thanks! :) They actually MADE the 'Eleanor Rigby' cartoon in '67 (as well as other "Revolver" songs and the 1967 songs "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields"), and THAT was the last year they made the cartoons. After that those animators were busy creating the "Yellow Submarine" movie!

    • @jeffburns4219
      @jeffburns4219 11 дней назад +6

      Thanks. I was wondering precisely that. The story, according to George Martin’s book “All You Need Is [sic] Ears”, is that the Beatles had to be pushed kicking and screaming into contributing anything at all to the “Yellow Submarine” full-length cartoon because they were still fuming about the weekly cartoon show.

      @@rogerscalf231 I watched sporadically for a while when I was nine (as it turns out-it feels as if I were younger). I liked it okay, but I don’t remember particularly looking forward to it; it just sort of came on. I was certainly much more interested in the songs than in the stories or the cartoons. Somehow I implicitly assumed that the series had ended when I stopped seeing it. I would have guessed one season, not three, and I would guessed that season to have been the 1964 season. (Wrong on all counts.)

    • @jeffburns4219
      @jeffburns4219 11 дней назад +1

      More or less the same with me with me, with a few exceptions: I came because I was curious about the cartoon. It didn’t much hold my interest for long, but I would stayed for the duration anyway unless I absolutely hated it. I found myself really, really enjoying the recording even though I thought I already knew it like the back of my hand, but I didn’t analyze the reason. I’m dubious that it’s just separation, though. Artificial separation is usually contraindicated. The instruments need to blend together, and they need to seem as if they inhabit the same acoustical space. Remixes are usually disastrous, and one of the reasons they’re usually disastrous is that they tend to ignore this obvious aesthetic rule.

    Probably the BEST Beatles cartoon clip...I love how awesome and ridiculous this series was, and the actual Beatles didn't even have anything to do with it.
    1: The butt/light bulb directly shot during the "pulled your knickers down" lyric, followed by Paul scratching his head like he doesn't get it...those filthy animators!
    2: Ringo looking stoned as hell drumming (I was too stoned to remember)
    3: The harem girls dancing to the "pornographic priestess" lyric
    4. The Egg King dude

    Thank you! :D (I was mightily impressed with your own "Jetsons/Jump Jive & Wail"! But enough of this festive banter...)
    Yeah, the "I Want to Hold Your Hand" episode has the octopus. (Or is it "Eight Arms to Hold You"? ;) ) I've considered using it for "Octopus's Garden" -- the major hurdle is that, it's Ringo's song, as you know, and the old episode has NO shots of Ringo singing! That's not to say I've TOTALLY given up on it...

    Wow, this was great! I've always passed this one because the song is bizarre no matter how you slice it. But I was bored and decided to take a look. I'm so glad I did. You did a terrific job. The lads are gonna have to stop taking those peaceful drives. Seems they always end up anything but peaceful.
    Inspires me to go work on my own fanvid.

    There are two phrases that are sung: "oompah, oompah, stick it up your jumper" starts here at 4:15, and "Everybody's got one.." comes in at 4:21.

    John Lennon Was truly one of a kind... a real individual... always on the cutting edge... i dont think there is anyone quite like him... people have tried to market themselvs like him, but they just dont cut it

    No.
    But this is a very awesome take on what could've been an actual cartoon had the producers made it. Good job.

    Clearly fan-made, but a wonderfully done fan video. I'm glad I stumbled across this.

    I really like this! Did you put this one together? if you did, where did you find some of that amazing imagery that so matches the song? And what Beatles cartoon did the first part come from? I used to hate this song because I didn't understand it. Now I understand that there is nothing to be "understood" about the song because like a nursery rhyme it is mostly meant to be nonsensical. Once I stopped trying to make sense out of it and accepted the song for what it is I fell in love with it!

    It ran from 1965 to 1969. It was never officially released onto VHS or DVD, but copies are circulating if you know where to look...
