- Welcome to The Golf Room. Roger Maxwell is a legend in the golf industry. During the week of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Erik Anders Lang and the dudes go into the desert to find Roger Maxwell, a longtime pro, businessman, and lover of ALL things golf.
Roger has spent most of his life and career in Phoenix, Arizona, building a reputation for himself through the golf shops he's worked in and golf courses he's managed through his company, 'In Celebration of Golf.' His collection of golf memorabilia in 'The Golf Room' has grown alongside him, and it’s hard to find a man that loves the game more than Roger.
Collecting is important to Roger, everything from bag tags to paintings, to flags, clubs, and books - all found on his travels across the globe that he brought right back home. It keeps Roger connected to the game he loves and he’s not stopping anytime soon.
A big thank you to Roger and to Jake Thomas for making this happen!
Fun Fact: Susie Maxwell Berning, Roger's sister, is a 3-time U.S. Women's Open Champion!

He NAILED THAT!!!! Most pro shop/pros act like you are bothering them and wasting their time. Be welcoming, kind, smile at the customers and fellow enthusiasts!
Wish this was longer I could have listened to your conversations all day. Thank You
I personally have zero experience and knowledge of golf, but this video shows the zeal and grit of a pro, who proudly says I am not through. What a resolution for the love of the live.
Never stop Erik. Your channel is amazing and it truly brings a bright point to my day. Thank you good sir.
Best way to describe Roger- A gentleman. Coming from an Englishman, there's no finer praise than if someone calls you that. Courteous, polite, chivalrous and honourable. The type of person others want to be around. It was a pleasure to watch this. 👏
The title of gentleman has become lost in our society. We desperately need to rediscover what it means.
What continues to amaze me is the fact you don’t have millions of subscribers
Even though, I think he deserves to be seen and known by many many people (not only golfers). It's the fact, he has less than 100k subs, what makes those videos so authentic and unique.
@erikanderslang keep it up man. big great stuff.
Watch your videos religiously, no idea how I missed this one..... might be your best. Just awesome.
Haven't played a round of golf since I was probably 14. I've watched dozens of your videos in the past week and it's got me excited about the game again. Gave it up to pursue collegiate lacrosse originally and now in my late 20's I've decided to get back into it. Your commitment to and presentation of the sport is uniquely inspiring and your content is A1. Thanks man!
Wow this was really good the music was perfect. And him walking away just felt smooth.
Miami Folk - Toasting All My Life. Beautiful song for a beautiful video. This man should have a museum named after him and a statue built in the front as the 5th member in that painting of legends.
was choked up at the end watching him saunter back to ye olde golf shoppe reminded me of my Grampy.. thank you as always
This was lovely.
You made his day.
Beautiful film making there, Erik!
Amazing collection, inspiring man, great short documentary! 👏🏻
Very cool 😎 Just makes me happy watching this. 😃👊🏼 🙏🙏
I want to be like Roger when I grow up, and I say that with all sincerity. Just another example of how great golf is, and when it gets in your soul it's going to be there forever. Thanks for telling these stories, Erik!
That was just plain good!!!
Roger is a true gentleman, an ambassador for all that’s good about golf.
I love people like Roger. The game needs legends like him. I tip my hat to you Sir.
Erik, this is crazy good, reminds me of my grandfather, could talk to him for hours on that couch with a toddy. Never stop, thanks for sharing.
Wicked Awesome! great job EAL!
When he got all serious and said “well they are all together in heaven” I liked that moment.
I could spend all day in that room.. thank you for introducing us to so many people who love the game in so many incredible ways

From Australia with love, my girlfriend is sick of hearing' alright ' but I'm in love with this channel. Past 3 handicaper in the old system not sure what that'd equate to in today's system. Looking to start again 15 years later at 31. So strange but thank you Eric and team :)
What a lovely guy
That was awesome! Thanks Erik. & Roger for Letting us see your collection.
Thank you Roger! And Cheers to you Erik!

One of the best you ever Made !!!
Kudos dude. This is a situation that took some delicate handling and patience to extract content worthy of publishing. That much was clear. Your skills as a journalist or conversationalist have certainly been honed over time to pull this off. Nice one. Keep going.
Absolutely brilliant. I love these pieces that show different people's passion for golf. Keep up the great work.

Erik, it is amazing to see how you are developing your craft on each and every episode you put out. You amaze me with your talent. As I have said many times before, thank you for sharing you, this amazing game, and all the crazy worlds that orbit it with all of us.
Whoa... his first thing he collected is a bag tag from the golf course that I played most of my childhood golf on.. Lincoln Park in OKC, Oklahoma.
Daren Reed that is really cool! Thanks for sharing!
These videos are amazing. Truly inspiring. I think that I may like golf again.
I really hope to see the superintendent perspective of what a golf course experience really amounts to. I hope to see Erik interview dedicated maintenance people who make the golf course shine on a daily basis.
Hell yea. Great vid
That is an amazing collection. I hope he will one day share it with the public.
Good stuff. Golf needs more Rogers.

Superb! This man is a genius. Spot on points and such common sense. Love him. This is what makes this channel so special. Who else would take the time to talk and get to find out what makes this Gentleman tick? Thank you
The music you use in all your videos is perfect!
Great video. Cool old dude.
You may never see this feedback, but awesome video Erik. Something about your videos whether it's the authenticity, sincerity, or something intangible makes them educational and heartwarming to me. Keep it up!

Love this one!
Great video , and the music choice is wonderful
Nigel Parker it’s just royalty free music lol
Dear Erik when I was four I was considered Tiger Woods Jr by many people but when I started the game baseball I decided to play that instead of golf when my parents told me I could not play football I played golf and shot 96 and made the A Team which was pretty bad but now after playing 25 rounds this year I am a 14 handicap and your videos have inspired me to try to get out on the course everyday and also explore all the courses I can THANK YOU ERIK

I can’t collect things cause I hate clutter, but I super appreciate that! So much history and love of golf in one room. Is he coming up on a podcast?
My guys, what a video.
He’s a living legend
I had the opportunity to meet Roger Maxwell many years ago pure gentleman!
That is the sweetest old man I’ve even seen
Wow what a fella
I can't believe the first idem he collected was from Lincoln Park! Which is still one of the best munis in OKC. I would be fascinated to see what other item's he has from there, love the golf culture that even Oklahoma has!
Brilliant.
Colt must've been dragged out of there ...
Wonderful video, would love to have had a closer look at those Scotties he had.
Great job Erik . Let’s play a round together . Come up to southern Ontario Canada . Especially Niagara . A lot of great courses . Niagara-on-the-Lake has the oldest course in Canada
unbelievable.
i would of needed to be escorted out of there, great vid
20 seconds in. Pause. !!!Like!!! Continue
Very Cool! I want that autographed poster. Wish you could have showed the bronze statues he wa pointing at when you asked him what the point of it was.
Proud of his Scotty collection around all of that history.
This is one of . my favorite. And I will tell you why. Well I met Sam Snead. Not only did I meet him, I got an invite into his house. My Great Uncle Bill Sweet was an avid golfer whom I respected and golfed with regularly. He told me numerous times while we were playing at Lewisburg Elks CC, that Sam Snead held the course record (since beaten by J. Boswell) Well he and my other Uncle Bill (My Dads Brother) headed to The Homestead for a round. After our round we swung by Sam's....he saw my Uncle Billy and said come on up to the house. He had so many sets of clubs from his US Open Wins to just clubs he was trying out (Mostly Wilson) But the biggest thing I remember was the knot on Sams hand....he had a huge knot in the middle of his right hand....he died about 4 years after I met him. But this video reminds of the time I got to spend time at Sam Sneads.
Erik, when are you coming to Australia again?
Wow....
Fuck the collection.... This dude's mentality is what should be cherished! I use to live just a few streets from his home and never knew a thing about him or his collection.
Can you please send links to the songs in your videos.....this one is fire
WOW
Great stuff, great guy, great story told. And it doesn't take place in Scotland 😉
This guy gets it. I fucking love golf, and it is the love of my life as well :)
Does anyone know the song being played starting at 20 seconds?
what a move by colt to get that shot of him walking back
What is the song at the start!?!?
Shout out to the Royal Dornoch head cover
What’s the song In the beginning called
How can I be apart of your crew and get in on this side of golf you’re bringing to the world?
