how can we calculate expander and compressor performance manually ? i wanna monitor performance continuously to identify process issues. please help with proper formulas, thank you.
How r we getting benefit of power production from IGV expansion...as it will only reduce the pressure of gas going impeller...which is the main driver for compressor...1:43min in video....thanks
Hello have a good day. Turbine is rotating the compressor. And then compressor compressed the gas and some gas went to the expander there they decrease the temparture of gas and seprate the heat and convert it into mechanical energy???
Thank you for your comment. Your point is like an eternal engine (just kidding). I'll give you one example below for easy understanding: In a gas processing plant, natural gas is compressed upstream, then it enters an expander to reduce temperature and pressure, extracting energy from a process gas to rotate the compressor. The discharge gas from the expander flows through the gas processing unit to separate liquids (LPG and condensate). After that, the residue gas goes to the compressor to be compressed, meeting customer demands such as power plants or fertilizer plants, etc.

Hi Govind. I think that IGVs look like Joule-Thomsom valve, which produces refigeration and not recovers energy like expander wheel.
