I just love it when this song is a person's first introduction to Angelina Jordan (as it was mine). The juxtaposition of that sweet, angelic face and young age with the sheer professionalism of the video production combined with that astounding, amazing voice and interpretation affects everyone the same way - goosebumps and open-jawed bewilderment at how this could possibly be a thing is always a joy to behold. And now you've been Jordanized and you're going to have to spend the next week searching out all of her other covers and originals in order to be amazed all over again. Trust me, you will be! Children do have their own versions of almost all "adult" emotions. A child's jealousy is different, but it's still jealousy. The same for love, obsession, desire, possessiveness, and everything else. The main difference is that, for adults, these emotions usually connect to romantic love, while, for children, they usually connect to ice cream. When Angelina has an understanding that's much deeper than ice cream, I credit her relationship with the music, as well as the wisdom of her family and collaborators.

After 40+ years as a music educator and jazz musician, I would say to all young singers: Don’t try to sing like Angelina until you know how to do it, especially where she belts out in the high register. Take voice lessons and learn everything you can about vocal technique and artistic styling. If you try to do what she does before you know what you are doing, you could severely damage your voice and may never be able to sing again. Angelina has a gift that, comparatively, very few people in history have ever had. All of her physical vocal abilities and sense of musical style came with her at birth and because her family played music all the time as she was growing up. She is a force of nature. You can aspire to sing like her, but don’t push it. We would like to see and hear you on RUclips someday!

Angelina is gonna land way up there with the greatest, give ger a couple of years. Her passion and love for music is huge. Her voice is ment fig her to sing with. And so on... she is unique. Sge was 10 at the time of the recording of the video. Sge just turned 13 now. She had this soulfull jazz voice and she loves those oldies songs that fits her bouce so well. But she is a young woman, barely a teenager, so with a voice like that, it is nderstandable that she will experiment some. Testing herself, her limits. Hi Frank, thank you for reacting to this. I was getting bummed that you might not! Your reaction was so perfect. I felt all the awe and disbelief frst time I heard her, too. Now that she's a little older] she's not singing much jazz, which makes me sad. But, she's still an incredibly gifted old soul and I hope her manager will take her in the best direction for her life and career. Thank you again. Love your reaction!

Angelina is gonna land way up there with the greatest, give ger a couple of years. Her passion and love for music is huge. Her voice is ment fig her to sing with. And so on... she is unique.
Sge was 10 at the time of the recording of the video. Sge just turned 13 now.
She had this soulfull jazz voice and she loves those oldies songs that fits her bouce so well.
But she is a young woman, barely a teenager, so with a voice like that, it is nderstandable that she will experiment some. Testing herself, her limits.
She gas many great covers, and some original songs as well.
One of the newer covers she has is a million years ago and nothing breakes like a heart. And of course she gas covered Amy Winehouse, back in black.
Shield and oslo are two original songs by her.

I only listen to her, she's great, listen to her other covers, she's from Norway.
Amazing, ain't it? So now, go see her version of Amy's "Back to Black" which she recorded when she was about ten. And maybe start with the three or four videos from her first competition, Norway's got talent, which she won at age 7. Angelina is fourteen now, so you've got a lot of music to catch up to. First Angelina was ten when she recorded this and is thirteen now! It's funny that you should mention Nina Simone because she does a shockingly good cover of Feeling Good! Angelina has around 60 videos out now and you won't find but 1 or 2 that aren't mind blowing and they fall short due to the sound mixing. Among others that she covers are Patsy Cline, Elvis, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, Etta James, Adele, Amy Winehouse and many others! This song was written by Screamin Jay Hawkins in 1956 and I for one believe that this sound is exactly what he was hearing in his mind when he wrote it! Welcome to the club! You have now officially been Angelinafied! Oh by the way , she has three original songs named Oslo, What is Life and Shield all very very good!

But neither of us were sitting there, listening to her for a first time, second, etc, WHILE reading their sheets and playing so perfectly.
