Great video! My husband is from Columbus he moved 13 years ago. He knew exactly where this was at. We went to this Target on our honeymoon 12 years ago. He couldn’t believe how abandoned it was.
@@hillorisartin6129 He grew up in Whithall too! That’s what he told me and his mom said it just turned into mostly rentals for homes and everything moved out.
This shopping center had lost most of it's tenants due to the rise of Taylor Square/Park across town. Other stores, like Family Toy Warehouse or OfficeMax had completely shut their doors. Also, here's a list of some of the closed stores that I'd seen: At 9:03 was last a Dollar Tree. I'm unsure what was there before then. 9:43 was a PetSmart. Lastly, at 11:17, the big building that EN Hobbies is currently using was a Family Toy Warehouse. The plaza also had a LifeWay (which was something else before that), a HomeTown Buffet (outparcel), a Hobby Lobby (formerly Builder's Square, was next to the plaza, now Capitol Auto Auction), and a Meijer (now FrontRoom Furnishing & Goodwill, across the street). Outer World was previously a Sports Authority.
I remember the Dollar Tree and The Office Max and Target Greatland and the Meijer I remember when the Meijer closed I believe the Meijer closed in 2008 because they built the other store on the other side of Reynoldsburg and the Target too but they built that new Target off Pickerington Rd off the highway
Upper Valley Mall in Springfield,Ohio is closing to the public June 16,2021. It was in the Springfield-News-Sun. I thought I should make sure you know about it.
I think its REALLY cool, that you both. Took the time out to do this! Thank you😊 I was looking for videos of what,Reynoldsburg looked like in the 70s,when we 1st moved here, from New York! Again Thank you
This one was PetSmart at 10:47, you can tell, as it had the PetSmart balls on the window, and in the other window you looked into, it had a checkout with the PetSmart's red ball.
the one you thought said "house of cards" was a dollar tree. the one with the blue kinda around it was a petsmart (next to that dollar tree) the otherworld was a sports authority. hope this helps!!!
Glad you enjoy the drone videos. The drone we have is a DJI Mavic Mini. It's a bit expensive but it is definitely worth it because of how good it is. Thing is amazing.
The S10 is parked sideways in front of Best Buy. The extreme other end of the shopping center was a Target (white roof). Another business was a kids bounce house fun center and there was an indoor R/C track at one point in the corner. There was a Petsmart and a dollar store along with a string of forgettable businesses. BestBuy was the first to leave, then they all fell one after another. A pop up Halloween store showed up a few times at the Best Buy parcel. One of the biggest problems in this area is the amount of police overlap due to multiple jurisdictions. You have Columbus, Reynoldsburg, Brice, Canal Winchester all converging within a mile of there and don't forget to throw in Franklin and Fairfield county sheriffs departments along with the State Highway Patrol. Literally 7 different law enforcement agencies, nobody patrols regularly and everybody knows it. Best Buy and Target moved a couple miles down the highway to the next exit, good for them. This was an area high in retail theft. Ugh.
Another reason for the decline of this area was the traffic and the people collecting for various charities and businesses on Tussing and Brice Rd every single weekend.
not all the greatlands closed we have had a greatland in walnutcreek,ca they didnt close it, they converted to normal target it prob depends how the target was doing
What is different about that type of Target that was abandoned?? I’ve never seen an abandoned Target before of that size and have never heard of a Target Greatland.
Target Greatland was basically the size of a Super Target. They had wider and longer aisles, better lighting, and more services than a regular Target but not as much as a Super Target. They quit the concept years ago and closed the greatland stores or converted them to regular Targets.
Not exactly, this area met it's fate from Taylor Park and Taylor Square Shopping Centers drawing existing tenants away. Target, PetSmart, MattressFirm, Lane Bryant, Old Navy and more all moved over there. The area was also losing sales. Consumer Square East and the Scarborough Mall (now Lindsay Honda) both closed after a decline of sales in the area.
What a huge waste of good retail space. Just as Target Greatlands disappeared, Super Targets are disappearing as well. Only a handful of Super Target stores remain and more are being converted into regular Target stores as the company remodels all of their stores.

That roof of target's is leaking it has a hole in the roof so I'm betting there is nasty mold growing in there..
That’s the craziest label scar
I’ve ever seen on that target greatland

@@aldinoguy1698 Yes, the Meijer closed in 2008 for a new location (I forget where though).
@@RammerSTi it was the other side of Reynoldsburg where there was a Target in the plaza but the Target wasn’t the one that closed the greatland
@@aldinoguy1698 Turns out the Meijer that replaced this one was on Diley Road in Canal Winchester, based off of Flickr.
@@RammerSTi oh wow I thought it was the one on the other side of ReynoldsBurg
Love the drone footage Wallie !! Great job guys !! Going to get my DJI Mavic mini out this weekend ....

At 10:10 that’s an abandoned Petsmart. I can tell by the bounce ball design on the top of the window.
Good job with the drone, Wallie and Kayla's pics. Enjoyed the video.
I think its REALLY cool, that you both. Took the time out to do this!
Thank you😊

Again Thank you
I like this video of abandoned places and really interesting to see
Such a shame to see shopping centers like this one with so many vacant stores. Awesome drone footage, thanks for taking us along
Look at the front, where it says Ames real big.
I turn on the base on my sound bar just for that part of the video
Look at the front, where it says Target Greatland real big.
I was only able to recognize the Burger King we used to go to after football games in 1971 or 72
The drone footage is superb! Have a KMartlicious Day!

the otherworld was a sports authority.
hope this helps!!!
Yes! Thank you!!
Woah
great job!!!
I live very close and this used to be a great thriving area. Sucks to see all the stores go 1 by 1, Miejer, Anderson’s etc.
@10:11 those are petsmart logos on top of the windows... the bouncing ball.
The store next to Outerworld was a PetsMart
I was actually going to say the same thing!! Lol 🤣🤣 only reason I think that was one shot he had was like the vet offices and haircut place
The Video is awesome even with the drone footage
Burtonsville Crossing Is All Abandoned Except For The Burger King.
target, officemax, otherworld, done!
That target was my childhood as that was where my fam took our christmas pictures 🤣🤣🤣
that target looks big to
My bad, you did not have the Z. I get rentals sometimes too, my truck is a 1994 Nissan D21 with 194,000.
This looks kinda familiar I've been here a few times when my sister lived near columbus it definitely looks different!
That is something you don't see to often. Drone footage of Target Greatland from the air.
Wallie, what kind of drone do you have? I've thought about getting one and your videos with it are really good.

The card place looks like a factory party card outlet and the one next to other world definitely was a PetSmart

At 10.11 you can see the petsmart balls above the windows
Otherworld leases the old petsmart now to the right haha
I heard all the Disney stories going close up
I know the one Disney store here in Pittsburgh PA in South Hills Village Mall recently closed. Not sure where they had other Disney stores.
Were those donut marks in the parking lot yours with the cavalier??? Just a guess Wallie. Haha Cool video bro.
at 10:12 it used to be a pet smart
Kinda funny that this video has abandoned target in it and right below this video is an ad for target.
Family toy warehouse, kb toys, Best Buy, hobby lobby, dollar tree, target, sports authority so many things over the years very sad
Are you ready for 2021 nfl draft? Pittsburgh steelers needs for new players.
Yes, we need some help!
That empty building next to Other World was a PetSmart
We really need to hook up sometime walllie I want to learn the ropes on Urban x from the master exploreer

target dont mess around with shrink if a store has to high of shrink after they try they wil close up shop
Forgive me if I missed a former explanation, but I was just wondering what is the reason you're doing these videos of vacant stores/lots?
That's what this channel is about. It is very interesting.
Why did that target go put of business
Hi! New subbie! (This is my hubby’s account my name is Dani :]) so when will y’all go check out the abandoned 6 flags in New Orleans??
Is that a bad area in Ohio ? Targets don’t usually close

Could of been a Meijer
