Can’t go wrong with old school right? Glad to see you doing what you love. A lot of people don’t get to make a living doing what they love. Instead they do what they half to so they can pay the bills and take care of the family. Blessed man. Take care
Tin man u can do it . Mad max the ........ out of that lovely saw . I have got to get a mac in my collection. U and all the maple leafs are a wealth of experience. . We don't need saws like that cause we chopped them all centuries ago trying to rule the world. But me and my boy love them and u guys .good luck .tinman
I don't care what the hobby is, it's always great to see someone really passionate about what they do. You embody that, Tinman. Your enthusiasm can't be contained. It's infectious. I'm not a saw mechanic, but I love watching your channel. Best to you and your family!
I have a 850 pro, it was my dad's, he was a mac dealer, from the 50s to the 70s, it needs rebuilt, some body got hold of it and put straight gas in it.
Tinman, you're speaking on the clamshell design engine. I have more than a few of these. On the subject of squish tho. I was saying in the chat in one of Smittys Chainsaw & Firewood channel I wanted to try something. I wanted to set up the cylinder in the Bridgeport mill and use a boring bar in a boring head to cut the bearing and seal area along with cutting the same amount off the base. It would be a little bit to get the cylinder set up rigid enough, but I think it's worth experimenting. My shop is busy with big truck collision repair with refurbs in the summer and accident damage in winter There are some lulls in workflow, and I really want to try this. Even if I had to make a custom boring tool, I mean heck, I did make my own boring head for the mill after all. Lol. Love what you do and the content you bring. As I said before you inspire me, and a few months ago I had 2 saws, now 15. I don't know what it is about these power saws that draw me in. Maybe because it's something different and that I have to use my brain I'm not sure. Anyway, thank you so much Tinman, I value your content more than you know. ✌😁 PS Have you heard anything from Ironhorse? I'm a little worried about him and Barb.
@Mac 131 If I ever actually have time to fool with it, I want to do a video. But, I've never done any editing so for me that's a huge obstacle to making more videos. Thanks for the reply! I really dig this stuff!!😁🐕🐐
Definitely following this build I have a really nice 850 but it's flooding out with fuel and it has a new needle and carb kit, havnt ported it cause I don't want to mess up the cylinder lol, please give us the numbers if you port it 😀
Tinman, nice words of wisdom to live by. Tinman, Ironhorse, Bellhopper, Donny Walker and Smitty true hero's to all of us. We have learn so much here. "Mistakes are Earned Knowledge" Bless you and thank you for Blessing your community!!!
That’s a nice sounding 461!!! 🤣😂 And nice pro Mac buckin sent you I have a feeling that saw is going to be VERY strong once you’re done with it! Take care Tinman!
Awesome it’s Mac attack time would love to see your porting work step by step own a firewood business in hard turkey red oak new saws stall macs pull threw the huge hardwood here yes they are not fast we’ll g70 and 125 there’s no other saw that can touch them in hardwood
Hey Tinman!! One of my favorite saws of all time is the stihl ms 260 pro, I own one that my buddy ported for me, it’s be sweet if you ever come across one to maybe do a video porting one lol, thanks man take er easy🤘🏻✌🏻✌🏻
PS: there is A, B, and C cylinder and pistons and they must be matched up with each other unless you are going to get the cylinder rechromed and then you must ship the piston you want to use with the cylinder! I know because I talk to Woody, Bob, and another guy named Sherwood in Michigan on a weekly basis and I have had a Super Pro 81 and a Pro Mac 850 both rechromed.
Yes a clam sheet is difficult to increase compression. Could you tig weld the top of a piston then use a lathe to cut it down such that the piston has a greater height? I am sure it would not add that much more weight. There are some spray welding that are interesting. Don’t know if spray welding can be used on aluminum.
Just curious. if your decompression is drilled? I have a DE-80 that is not . Came that way from factory. And is not needed,as I was told the combustion chamber is a different style. Compared to my SP 81, witch most definitely needs one. Not sure about ProMac 850.
Hey tinman. auld buckin keeping you full Chap building some shit hot saws buddy.. I said it before one of the best content on RUclips is you the tinman buckin and uncel Harvey.

All the boxes I get in the mail like that cost me 200 to 300 bucks.
As long as you're having fun👍.

That PM sounds pretty dang rowdy already!
Thank you!!
I'm interested in what and where you get your parts for your SP800. I have one that was straight gassed. Looking forward to that project. Thanks

Pro Mac 850 is similar to the Super Pro 81 using and needing a decompression button. DE80 has Q port.
Can’t wait! 😁
