This year includes organizations that provide family transition support services, children’s educational programs, food banks and mental health resources.
Globally, Husky is proud to support Climate Impact Partners, who develops and delivers the highest quality carbon financed projects, from which they create carbon credit and energy attribute certificate portfolios for their clients. This enables organizations to offset the emissions they can’t reduce, put a price on carbon to incentivize change, and meet their ambitious climate goals. Together with the world’s leading companies and quality project partners, we will reduce 1 billion tonnes of CO2 by 2030 to transform the global economy, improve health and livelihoods and restore a thriving planet.
Husky’s donation to Climate Impact Partners will be directed to a project in support of the health and livelihoods of communities most impacted by climate change. This project introduces families in Ghana to an efficient cookstove, the Gyapa, that cooks food more quickly, requires nearly 50% less fuel and is less smoky. The stove not only cuts carbon emissions but also reduces exposure to toxic fumes. Reducing the amount of wood used for cooking saves families as much as $100 dollars annually while protecting Ghana’s tree cover, which has decreased 19% since 2000 according to Global Forest Watch. The project provides training to local metalworkers and ceramists to manufacture Gyapa stoves and distributes through a wide network of local retailers.
