I find I am hooked on these forecasts!
This is now my favorite way to learn about weather. TV forecasts seem to be burdened by distracting chatter. Ex: if a local temp. Is on the screen, the area’s name and forecasted temp. must be read aloud, making for excessive verbiage. And computer generated images are scrolled by much too quickly.
Major bust for the eastern US bro!...But, you're not alone. A lot of busts happening this year...Maybe next winter...
True that NOAA rarely forecasts cold in the graphics. They usually marginalize it to any given corner of the nation and put equal chances ( or white) over a larger part of the country at those times.
They’re a big believer in “global warming”.
@Zachary Simmons Yeah, why bother making an extented forecast if you put average temperatures or precipitation everywhere? Everyone knows there are equal chances of that?😂

Will there be a clipper pattern this year? Because the big storms never seem to hit the Ohio valley, so the only way we get above average snow is when we get a a clipper every 4 days.

Natalie Sasser I live in NC as well and we didn't see any snow last winter besides a tiny bit in April. Hopefully we get more this year!
I appreciate the optimism for the cold in the Southeast, but the long term forecast missed the boat as we are expected to have temps 5-25 degrees above normal January 6th-13th, including a projected high of 73 degrees in Knoxville Saturday, 1/11/20.
I live in east-central Illinois and I'll be out golfing this first weekend of February with a high near sixty and the extended forecast doesn't look too bad either. Although the extended forecasts have been way off this year as well.
Really enjoyed the really cold forecast!

NOAA just released a January temp Outlook and it's totally different than yours it will be interesting to see who will be right

No snow above average temperature more daylight would be a perfect winter.
your forecast has been completely wrong for December, January and February for the northeast! All three months were well above average with well below average snowfall! What went wrong with your forecast

I don’t think this January this cold works out for mid Atlantic. I’m thinking January ends up being 2-4 above normal.
Pennsylvania has been awfully warm and been getting alot of rain sure doesn't feel like I live in Pennsylvania I remember growing up we always had snow in the month of December now things seem to be changing.
Last week was frigid lows in the teens and single digits. A slight warm up in the 40's 50's this week of Christmas, Some snow still on the ground here and there.

I am a snow lover too but I heard very depressing news from the weather channel today IBM weather company has well above temps in the south and east and much about in the southeast I fell sorry for all hoo predicted a trough in the east and all snow and cold lovers I am hopping there wrong but this outlook has been right before allot of times this could be an el nino forming fast

February is the snowiest for my area in PA. Sometimes January can be snowy as well.
The day I’m posting this, it’s supposed to be -34 for Tuesday and Wednesday. Then -20s for the rest of the week.

If we don’t get cold and snow in January, might as well skip it all together. Right now it’s 50 degrees in NW Ohio right before Christmas and it stinks. I’m betting we will have more snow and cold at Easter.😕🙄

It's been spring and rainy here In southeast ohio. I think all of these model runs dont take into account the ridge pattern that has been here since August. Where's my snow? :)

Amazes me how you National forecasters pretty much ignore the Pacific NW. Your first few maps show us as very cold. For real? The NOAA maps are pretty much 180 degrees from those, showing above normal temps...

But if it’s upper 40s or more, and quiet and even sunny 😎 I can get out for those long healthy walks, even do garden chores that didn’t get finished in autumn. This unusually mild spell is probably what used to be called Halcyon Days of December. They won’t last! So I’m loving it now. My Heating Bill loves it too!! Maybe we’ll get a January Thaw that we can also enjoy. A girl can dream... 🌝 I really don’t like Winter. I’m already geared up for Spring.

You are thinking of astronomical winter which begins at Solstice. The weatherman referred to meteorological winter which begins on December 1st and ends on the last day of February.

Please give me some good news for January and February and March for Newark Ohio and the Ohio valley u would like to see below average temperatures and above average snowfall and slot of storms to bring snowstorms and blizzards and Arctic cold that lasts more than 2 weeks because I want to be able to go ice fishing for the first time
