We've had such a run of mild, snowless winters here in the northeast and the NYC area in particular these past 3 winters heading into this one that if we just have an average winter in terms of cold and snow in 2024-25, it'll go down AS A MUCH COLDER winter than the past few COMBINED. For example, if we get 25 inches of snow in NYC this winter (which we get ON AVERAGE annually), it'll be more snow than we got the past three winters COMBINED.

NJ (shore area) here and I totally agree with you regarding the past three winters have been pretty tame. I think we'll have the same weather this year as we had for the past three winters.

Central Ohio here I do not remember a cold and snowy winter truthfully since being a child the only substantial winter I remember was 2014 going into 2015 as an adult. We had a lot of snow and cold. I am so ready for it. Bring on tons of snow and freezing weather.

Yes, I agree. I do not work outside either, but I live in the country and for the people who own snowplowing businesses and our bugs are out out of control. I’m simply saying the cold and snowy winter would be great.

2013-2014 was an extraordinary --EPO pattern fall and winter. I remember snow and freeze already in October.
It was great. 95% ice coverage on Great Lakes, top 10 coldest and snowiest winter on record.

nov 2013, i woke up to 2feet of surprised snow and power outages ..shocked everyone.. i hope we get a repeat..now that i am ready for a good winter snow ! we need it up here! in the modcoast maine area!

Currently watching this outside as the October 14 cooldown strikes Pennsylvania. The clouds are giant and black giving a winter vibe, leaves blowing all over the place. And we got frost a few days ago. I am wearing a heavy jacket right now cuz the wind is so strong.

The last time I saw temps like these in October in Massachusetts, we had 80 degree days in January. Maybe 8 or so years ago. I was working at a junkyard and was outside in shorts.
i'm a snowmobiler in ny. the old timers used to say if there was snow for snodeo, you won't see it again till feb. i watched that happen numerous years.

Central Indiana has had very little rain this spring and summer. And now it appears will have very little snow. We haven't had over 8-12 inches of snow for years.....just a few inches here and there. We used to get several feet of snow......such a shame. Our kids may never see a large snowfall unlless they head north.
Yup. I live in northern Indiana and we have had almost no system snow. Only lake effect and even that has been abysmal.
Did I get this right? I'm seeing glaciers covering most of the area from Michigan to Tennessee; dry and cold in Georgia; floods for Northern California and Oregon; and no FEMA aid for Florida?
For the SE and Mid Atlantic, December will be the best bet for average temps and snowfall. Once 2025 gets started, the SE ridge will dominate, making the winter season once again above to much above temps and below normal snowfall. It won't be as warm as the last several winters, which have been record breaking warm, but still for winter lovers, it will be another disappointing season.

There have been dry El Ninos and wet La Ninas which happens from time to time ever-so-often.

So no snow for Toledo Ohio again, we haven’t had snow since 2021 and before that was 2013 and 14 .. 😢
I’m in the NE and the past 2 years we’ve been predicted to have very cold and snowy winter. Instead we’ve had almost no snow and average to hotter than average temperatures.
We used to get snow in March and sometimes in April, but now we get up to the 70’s to 80’s temperatures in those 2 months.

We’ve had snowier and colder winters ever since the year 2021-2022. La Niña was hitting hardest from that time to 2022-2023. While the 2023-2024 they did say El Niño was happening, but it ended up being a lot like a powerful La Niña phase. Now I’m just clueless about what this winter would be…. I feel like the below average precipitation would happen here in Vancouver Canada.

As a child growing up in North Carolina i can remember three to four feet of snow on the ground at one time. I tell my children about how it used to be and they look at me like i am loosing my mind. Bring it on, we need it to control all the incects and put the nation back into a regular pattern.

I’m not excited one bit for the nasty weather after weeks of warm weather a drastic cool down will begin on Thursday temperatures will drop from 75 to 77 degrees all the way down into the 40s to 30s with a chance of snow on Thursday my weather app keeps saying next expected is .9 wintry mix on Thursday I hate snow with a passion! I’m currently outside enjoying the nice beautiful weather while it lasts it’s currently 75 degrees and sunny where I’m at in Montana enjoying every second of the warmth before the crap hits I wish the warm weather never had to end! I hate cold weather and I especially hate winter!

I will say this. So, extreme summers here usually have extreme winters here. This is Las Vegas. So I don't necessarily believe a hotter winter like you pointed out. But I do see a wetter winter here.

I am hopping this pans out we have been well above normal in temps and well bellow normal for snow since 2015 in Cincy area but we need to be careful If the PDO stays cool not warm that not a good sign for the east that means constant Negative PNA We need to PDO to warm The Enzo in the Pacific looks great but the other factors need to line up as well I am hopping for that we have been well bellow normal for snow in the Cincinnati area in the past 8 years we only seen 3 to 15 inches each winter since 2016 I am hopping for much needed snow?

Very low chance of that happening, you definitely have a chance of seeing some freezing rain, sleet but I would say that would be the extent of winter weather for that region.

@WildWeatherNetwork I am from Pittsburgh area. Eastern PA usually gets slammed! Our local gas company just raised gas cost 12 percent. Ouch!

The absolute WORST of winter is absolutely GOING to be in New York State. Also, next summer, 2025, New York State is ABSOLUTELY GOING to be extremely frigid with frequent record breaking blizzards.

I’ve watched about 4-5 winter forecasts for this winter and they are all different lol, you have to take all the information and “models” with a grain of salt. I’m in Texas and this is the only forecast I’ve seen for a colder winter here, some say warmer and some say they can’t be sure because La Niña was supposed to be here by now and it’s still mostly neutral. Don’t know what to think lol.
