  • This is the second video about my DIY tin can stirling engine.
The original (shitty) video from 2007: • My Stirling engine

Built from the plans and instructions from the german book "Der Stirlingmotor" by Dieter Viebach.
I built this when I was 14 years old with old and worn out tools with little experience but it worked back then and still even today.

thanks for posting. good work. some thoughts. at :50, the photo on the book cover suggests an Attempt was made to Correctly take power off; the attempt was a Failure. it is good that you did not copy it. what remains is an engine that has no provision for the (correct) take-off of power. a flywheel is Not supposed to be out-of-balance. causing a flywheel to Be out-of-balance near its maximum radius, is extradumb. it VERY Difficult to Correctly smooth the operation of this type of engine. in general, smoothing should NOT be attempted. adequate ANCHORING is essential, however. at 2:20, a good job was done, in the assembly of the poorly designed displacer drive linkage. there is one obvious drawback, in using a vertically oriented displacer. at all times, convection/gravity promotes the movement of heat energy Upwards; towards the Cold-side of the system. in addition, locating the (cold) power-piston/diaphragm Directly above the (hot) displacer cylinder of a htd stirling engine, is a BAD idea. cheers googletranslate
