7:46 your shape was deselected how did you reselect it and continue making shape ?? I also faced same problem but when I try it reselecting by pressing alt and drag it closes shape by connecting at first point..

The way you are teaching to do Roto of hair is wrong , keep in mind you need to teach people in a proper way other wise they will do the wrong way entirely .
When matching motion blur with hair details its " totally wrong to draw a big shape like you did like at 8.53 " , the edges of the hair tend to me transparent , we need to make detailed shapes and need to create transparency with our shapes .

Main point never animate opacity. Only 100 or 0...no animation
