Fix Chromecast Remote with blinking light (no phone app)

if you're having the problem of a slow blinking light on your remote for Chromecast with Google TV and other fixes failed, try this.
Other fixes have us try using our phone to control the Chromecast, but my phone didn't support the Android TV Remote app.
I ended up pairing the remote to my phone as a Bluetooth device. I was then able to successfully pair my remote back to my Chromecast by pressing the button on my Chromecast to look for devices, press the home and back buttons for 3 seconds on the Chromecast Remote to enter pairing mode, and finally telling my phone to forget the remote as a Bluetooth device.
this worked when nothing else did.

Thank you so much. For those with Apple devices, don't connect to an apple device and reconnect to chromecast, it won't work. It needs to be connected to an android device. Paired with my Samsung tablet, left it a minute and re-paired with the Chromecast. Worked first time.

The only fix I found in the past was factory resetting the Chrome Cast which is a pain to set back up.

Thank you, your solution work for me and took the remote out of its passing white light mode. Just in case this might help others I still couldn't pair with my Chromecast. When I pressed the little button on the Chromecast to start pairing I could see the Chromecast and the remote on my smartphone available Bluetooth devices list, but they would not pair with each other. In the end I had to long press the little button and reset the Chromecast completely. Then both the Chromecast and it's remote could pair. Now after reinstalling everything on the Chromecast it will works perfectly again. Thank you.
Was interesting to use the remote control to control my smartphone like you said, adjusting volume, locking the screen.

Thank you very much! My problem was that during test and trials to fix that with connected phone via BT i mistakenly turned off WiFi in Chromecast, so I lost possibility to control it via Home. After pairing/disconnecting Remote Chromecast Controller with phone I was able to enable pair mode between Chromecast and Remote controller. Great tip!

Very helpful video. Thank you. It took me like more than 20th try but it worked. Is good to know if the part when your Chromecast is searching for the remote again, and you keep pairing, make sure take the batteries out re-pair it and make sure your remote is close to the Chromecast device. That was the only way it worked for me, after pairing and forgetting it from my phone. Thank you again

If the remote is not working, and you have no phone app, How did you tell the device to Forget?

We told the second device to forget. So pair the remote to a computer or a phone with the device's Bluetooth settings. Then tell the computer or phone to forget the remote in its Bluetooth settings. Like magic the Chromecast and remote will then agree to pair again.

There will be a swich on chrome cast device, press on to it, it will automatically search the remote and automatically finish off the job.

Simply stated:
Pair remote to another device like a phone or computer (the important bit is that you are pairing the remote to something other than the Chromecast) .
Then pair the remote to the Chromecast. While this is happening, unpair it from the other device (phone or computer).
