- In this episode of Interior Lives, our design editor, Wendy Goodman, immersed herself in a surreal, color-saturated world and home.
Designed by Italian architect and industrial designer Gaetano Pesce, Ruth Lande Schuman's home is a lesson in why fantastical color is so necessary for some apartments. Развлечения
"I think a lot of people think colour is low class. There is a lot of prejudice there." Exactly!!! Hence the rise of minimalist aesthetics, especially seen in the pretentious ass homes of others in this series lol.
Baetoul K not all of them are pretentious. Just because you don't like minimalism, why do you have to knock it?
Baetoul K LOL right?
Hence racism
Debra James huh? Racism?
Color in the home not skin u bone head
"COLOR IS LIFE". I SO AGREE WITH HER ON THIS.
This is priceless, Mr Gaetano Pesce is freaking hilarious. He's SO Italian, he just couldn't care less and does whatever he wants, I love it!
Love the dog door but the rag chair literally makes my skin crawl, so creepy.
Looks like someone left their clothes on the chair just before a fire that turned on the sprinkler system.
I was literally just about to comment that the chair was one of my favorite parts! Funny how people see the world so differently.
Ugh right it looks like moldy laundry
Yeah, me too. As someone who has a vibrant terracotta orange living room and colourful art work, like pattachitra, kalamkari and madhubani art in my home, I love love color and textures, but that rag chair looked diseased to me.
ONE OF BEST!! ARTIST SPEAKS REAL TALK!! COLOUR IS LIFE.
This is the world I want to live in, where everyone expresses their individuality
I love the originality of the space. The vibrancy of the colors really do give it life and expresses the personality of the owner- the key. 🙏🏼
I love all the different tones of colours used. I haven't seen a lot of 'designer homes' where the designer uses such a range of shades all in one room. This is such a home owner thing to do. Most 'designer homes' are a variant of white/beige with 'Pops of Colour'. This was brilliant. (Except for that armchair that was atrocious)
All the good ones, not HGTV and RUclips “designers” have a lot of color and textures in their homes
I love it, but not the rag chair lol
I absolutely love the colors and arrangements of this apartment. Beautiful❤👍🏾
I love this series so much! Thank you so sharing another great episode.
the clashes between all of these unique pieces would be hard to live with for me.. there is so much tension, I wouldn’t call it vibrant. I love the resin floor idea though, and the bell on the cushions is playful.
just a pile of "arty" sh*ts to be precise, sigh, there should be at least 9 metre square for each object to speak its art space, thus he should just move the lot to a large warehouse in jersey for FULL display instead, or better still, PUT SOME IN STORAGE and limit the object on display !!!!!!!!!!
I like the floor too I think with simpler decor theme it would really pop out
I love the door & the chair. I love everything about this apartment!!
Love it, love it, love it! Those two are so full of life that neurons jump from their skin! And if they claim COLOR is the core reason, who's to argue!
Love this one. So much wit and originality - and not caring a jot what others would think. Bravo.
This reminds me of Pee Wee's Playhouse! It has the same 80's ludic playful vibe. And that rag chair looks like it could start holding a conversation with you at any moment.
I love the painted floor!!!
Oh I love this flat. Fabulous rich colours everywhere. The armchair is gorgeous - great for my dogs as you wouldn't notice the hairs!
1:05 The doors! So much fun 😊
Colors, patterns and designs are kind of like music. It can be dialed up or down. This space is intriguing and matches her art well. It's interesting to see that different people like to live at different volume levels. I guess I'm in the middle but when I see her house, it's like a symphony is playing. The home owner likes that feeling of the symphony in her daily life. It is a little intense but very cool indeed. In the city filled with glass and stone, its nice to be vibrantly yourself.
Gaetano Pesce is one of my absolute favourites!!!💋
Absolutely stunning. Wish these were longer!!
So obsessed with this omg. Love, love the floor.
Beautiful! Gorgeous! Love it!
Fascinating!
I love his creativity and I also love how much she loves his work haha
There’s a SNL episode about this with Fred armison the art collectors house
Aahhhhh... the Nunï family! 😂😂😂
Lovely!!!!!!!!!! And such great people!
This series is amazing
I love the colours, can't understand why black, grey, dark colours have become so popular, thank you for this tour
This is a fun home filled with interesting objects.
I cannot love this enough!!!!!!!! 😳😜🤗🎉❤️
The sofa is wonderful! 😍
Yes, color is life.
The rag chair is surprisingly wonderfully fitting... what a grand place it must be to inhabit.
I like that the implied punchline to her rag chair story is that she is fabulously wealthy and her son knows very well that that is the case.
Love the apartment!
Truly amazing.
i love it! its creative inspiring & happy.
All those people calling it cheap would be surprised may be in 20years when these art pieces get auctioned for millions of dollars 😂
Even when these items sell for millions, I will say they are mostly ugly. Yes, colour is vitality and North America is afraid of colourful homes, but this apartment is ugly - full of things that look like scraps of ideas. I dont care if the designer is Italian and loved by snobs. Colours can be applied beautifully, shapes can be playful, but like in a beautiful garden - harmony is important. No harmony here - it is just a joke....
@@GraceCanadaful I hate to break this to you, and it might come as a mighty mighty shock, so sit on a chair if possible before you read further:
Taste is subjective and it's HER house.
Grace Waszkiewicz u don’t have an eye for art, get outta here
@@GraceCanadaful Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Yes. My kinda art life!
I love these videos❤️
Love this 🙏🏾
Colourful fun👍
this is lovely
I love the rag chair I want one 🥰
That couch is fantastic
Love it.
I like that it's a self portrait of you
I love that skyline sofa
I LOVE HIM!!
The dinning area was my favorite space
These need to be sloweeeeed dowwwwwn. And the art honoured not rushed.
Sweet as candy! "Color is life" Indeed. Take a look all those tang, or white everything inside rich people homes. " Do this match?" Most of them would forse a smile.
this episode made me subscribe ✔️
The floor is cool
chair-looks-like-melted-wax-cool-luv-the-colors
I won’t even comment about the rag chair. Safe to say it speaks for itself......Ugggghhh!!!!!
BRAVO
Binge watching now 😬
Out with minimalism!! You all look the same! Out with this mid century modern trend! Out with CB2 and West Elm! In with vintage, colorful unique thrifted dumpster dived hand me down vibrant cozy eclectic style that says ANYTHING AT ALL about YOU
Well there is real vintage colorful thrifted Mid Century Modern too so don't knock it down.
@@vaderladyl In truth I actually don’t care what other people like and I celebrate other people’s taste, I was just venting in this moment hehe. I really don’t like mid century modern furniture even genuine vintage, probably because it reminds me of the 50s and racism or maybe it’s just ugly to me idk. To each their own
Whatever if you only focus on the negative of things is your loss and only yours.
@@vaderladyl same goes for when you pick on strangers online for no reason
@@BelaCurcio No only strikes me the poor understanding of interior designs but like I told you I focus on the positive on MCM not on the negative like you do but you need to chill and not be so snowflake.
My brother made a pile of socks in his teens similar to that rag chair 😜
I like a lot of individual ideas, but would want them as a touch of surprise in a more traditional space for myself. You have to appreciate people who push the envelope, though.
I would die of high anxiety
You don't have to like this apartment but they don't have to conform to your taste either. There is something for everybody and that makes life great and a joy to experience.
I have mixed feelings. I’m obsessed with vibrant colors in interior design, but this place gives a vibe of a kindergarten or a pediatrician’s waiting room. The cabinets look like children’s playpen, but I love the chair!
OMG THAT CHAIR IS OF NIGHTMARES... IT WILL FOREVER HAUNT ME 😢
This is the DEFINITION of contrived art! This looks like a garbage dump, random colors here, random furniture and art that visually looks like garbage here, a gaudy traditional reproduction art painting in the middle, it's like a modern furniture store, dick blick and hobby lobby collided with a freight train, this apartment is the aftermath!
Color can equal clutter..for some ..a clean palette brings life to me..not all can do lots of color ..no right or wrong ..personal choice as everything is
fun!
Interesting colorful
In smaller doses this colourful apartment might have been more interesting but in this magnitude I find it unsettling
i hate pastel pale colors but strinking colors are too heavy to live in all day long
Yes
Does anyone know the song in the beginning ?
what is the name of the first background music?
I’ve been trying to find it for forever!!!
The rag chair? Uuugghhh!
...indeed
the all black house was recommended after this 😂
Why does the artwork at 1:30 look like a fruit roll up? I love it!
'what's the name of the guy?'
'*whispering* peter..."
'Peter?'
'*whispering* ...gabriel' 'Gabriel!' 😂😂😂
This is how i imagine Carrie Bradshaw's apartment to be like
The rag chair reminds me of wads of chewed gum.
1:25 ghost!
Fun
Why is the background music so loud
One piece of furniture in there costs more than rent probably
She probably owns.
i like the question : why dont your Apartment looks like you ?
I love this series, the sound mixing is awful. I feel like I'm straining to hear over the music in every episode
I went to art school and let me tell u there are also artists that also never wear color and tbh I still rly can’t understand that 😂
i like her laugh
is this the house in beetlejuice?
She runs a nonprofit? I find that a little hard to believe when she lives in luxury and expensive things like she does.
a lot of independently wealthy people "retire" into running non profits because they now have the time and resources.
I guess I should sell my Maybach and shift to a condo before I start doing charity with my lifelong acquired wealth. :(
I would have that armchair in my house just to freak people out
is this place made out of fruit roll ups?
badass grandma
I love the colours and the character of this house but it's almost disappointing to find Eames and Van der Rohe furniture spread between all the other unique pieces. I get that you need neutral pieces too, but it's almost like they're trying to counter the - as she calls it - "low-class" of the surreal pieces of less-established designers. They're good chairs -no question, but I'm disappointed that they'd go for them, it feels unimaginative and cold. The primary function of design icons like the Eames longe chair or the Barcelona chair has become to signify status and that's boring.
I feel attacked 3:05
This stresses me out, that chair looks like it was taken out of a bin
I couldn't be in that space
