Hi, I'm booked to go to this hotel in 2 weeks and I've been seeing some incredibly disturbing reviews. If you were there 5 days ago can you tell me if they have run out of most to all food and have overbooked their hotel to the point people are losing their rooms? Not to mention the reports that there are bugs in the buffet and the mattresses are brutal to sleep on. I would appreciate any help
Was there Feb 11-18, bldg 12. Room could use fresh paint but it was fine, AC worked. Shower was luke warm but didn't mind as it was warm there. Food was Cuban standard...they ran out of butter which I thought an odd thing. I'm not a fussy eater so I always had enough. I asked, at that time the resort was just over 1/2 full. We liked the layout of the resort, beach and ocean lovely. You may want to take a flashlight as walkways are a bit dim for some. Only saw 1 bug in cafeteria, it is a warm climate so i wasnt surprised. Didn't notice any bugs on the beach. The no-see-ums were hungry early morning and early evenings, as are bugs in our part of the world. Take good spray and After Bite. The people were nice and appreciated our gifts. We really enjoyed our week and didn't sweat the small stuff. Cuba has had a hard time and are getting back into the tourist action as best as they can. Go with an open mind and just enjoy.
During our stay the resort was at 50 percent capacity. The food was hit or miss, we weren’t expecting much. They had no vodka or slushy drinks. Overall we did find a way to have a good trip. It’s not just this resort that’s having some issues. We talked to other people from different resorts and they were all having the same problems with the food. Hope this helps you

This applies to all hotels in Cuba. There is a huge shortage in food.
