Thanks a lot James I have checked all your vid related to the TT 1200 and I have serviced my 6 TT. 1200 from adjusting the brake to adjust the +- and tone arm wires I mean I have save 100's of dollars thanks for sharing all the great imfo
Thks Viperfrank for this useful video as usual. Do you have any details about the zero point magnetism to remove it or do you recommend to not touch it at all ?
Thanks for your help, if it wasn't for you i couldn't calibrate my pitch, fix the tonearm height adjuster and even change the LED's on both of my technics, you're the best.
Thanks a lot mate.. Most helpful..even just the tapping to release the platter, but have always wanted to get that little bit more from my babies and now i can! Cheers. Peace
Very cool post b, damn if I knew this 25 odd years back lol, I might do this tho, is it ok to adjust to plus 12 and leave it there indefinitely or is it likely to cause any malfunctions down the road leaving it tweaked like that?
good video m8 i watched it all even though i wasnt looking to adjust the pitch range! it might fix my problem - i was at a party and a drink got spilt on my sl1210 mk2. i think it was me and i think it was wkd (blue). ever since when i move the pitch btween +2 and +4 it seem to stick and slow away down the tune. seems like just a bad connection to me and all it needs is a wipe with a damp cloth! repair shops are quoting prices i cant afford and the decks have been put away! i need advice please
I did this successfully with my MKV's. However, it should be noted that the pitch range potmeter is a rather tiny screwhole in that version compared to the one demonstrated in the video, so precision in marking the neutral spot is required. Also, tweaking this does come with a cost: when you play a record in the added +4 range, you will inevitably lose some bass because of the increased pitch. So if you're doing that in the mix, you may want to boost the bass beyond the neutral point on that channel to compensate. I tested this with Oliver Just - I'm A Disco Dancer (Dave Clarke Remix) and Bayon - S Soup. May be less noticable in drum & bass tracks because of the already abundant bass, but in less bass-dense genres, especially house, it will be very apparent.
Do you have a video on how to disable the pitch lock? I always have mixes where I get it caught just in place where it never beat matches because the pitch lock takes over. Thanks
Hi, 2 weeks ago my tone arm went out "bearings" so I just replaced that today. Thank you for the great videos btw. But once I plugged it back in my pitch control is acting weird. Its set at 0% on the big dot but once you take it off the click/light goes off the pitch goes up to the top small dot on platter. It does this when you move the pitch control +/- as soon as it clicks off the light. Adjusting screw isn't helping. Any idea what my problem might be?? I'd appreciate any help, Michael
@mitsubishistuntchin oh ouch thats not good, the trouble is the sugar amongst other thing in the drink will probably start to corrode stuff in there including the resistive strips in the fader, so depending on how long its been in there will depend on how badly it may corrode the fader. thats what it sounds like. to be honest i think the best bet is going to be to replace the fader as thats the cheapest part to change. thanks for your comment and if you need any more help let me know ill help.
@entagled1 Hi there, I'm sorry for the late reply I hope it's not too late. As long as you didn't short anything out your turntable will be fine. You won't do any damage by opening it up with the power cable still connected, as long as you do not short anything out inside with screwdrivers, no damage will occur. And if you lift the platter up with the power still connected, as long as the timetable is switched off that's fine, it's safe to do that. Thank you for your comments. Nice one!!!
got a set of mk2's and on both of them -3.3 is at -2 on the slider same on both decks, ive tried setting at 2.7 with the multimeter adjusting the pots etc but the problem still persists tried many times but can never get -3.3 +3 and +6 all spot on,is there something else that could be faultly thats preventing me getting a correct reading ? thanks
Здравствуйте, у меня mk5 , плавает скорость , менял pitch fader на новый, не помогает , через 5 минут после включения начинает плавать скорость , в чем может быть проблема?
thanks my 1200 pitch is calibrated before 10 years jajajaj. now i need calibrate american audio tt 2400 pitch , you can upload tutorial for this.thank you man
I'm having serious truble removing the platter. I'm getting it up a few mms but then it won't budge. Do I dare use forse on my beloved? I tried tapping the center as illustrated but it won't give in at all.
Nice video, however I don't think it is possible to set a 1210mk2 to anything other than +/-8 pitch range. I have made this ajustment before increasing the pitch to the maximum range possible and then manually calculated the increase by counting how many times the 'T' on my Technics slipmat passed the strobe in a minute at 45rpm + full pitch. This worked out at about 52rpm which is an increase of a little over 15%. However the downside to this increase is that you get the 'double zero pitch' fault because turning the blue variable resistor results in moving the zero pitch point and not giving you an increase on both + and - pitch. when I had +15% pitch my zero point was at around -4 (plus the quartz lock at 0). I tried setting the decks to around +12% which resulted in the zero point being near to -2 (plus quartz lock at 0).
I tried this on both of my 1200m3d's and all it does is move the 0 point. I get approx -6 and +10, so it is a bit faster, but not wider (does that make sense?). Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does this just not work on an m3d model?
Hi ive bought the turntables and the pitch is really high but cause of this there is no marking for factory settings how will i be able to calibrate this to set it back to origanal settings :s thanks
Just got a second hand MK2 and for some reason there is a lot of flutter in the +3.3 to +8 range. It goes out of control and doesn’t seem to be working correctly. What do you think is going on?
MathmatiC -1 I think so, yes. Looks like I can order a new pitch fader with the pcb for 40USD on eBay. I assume it’s as simple as swapping them out and plugging the new one in - no soldering required
Please help. My pitch level centers at 2... (meaning the red light dot stabalizes at 2) At 0 my turntables is actually at -2 and too slow. How do i fix the "0 level" of the pitch fader?
I don't tap the platter I just take it off. The resistance is due to the magnetics so no harm done when just pullin it out, bur be carefull so you don't damage the magnets when you pull it out :)

HI !! VIPER FUNK !! how to adjust the pitch range on a technics 1210 MKII… ON drive circuit board, that potencimeter VR301 with multimeter o frecuency counter ? To return the slider to factory specs… Clip the red lead to pin TP27 and the other to the Ground pin. Then turn the power switch on then turn the pot until the meter reads 262.08 kHz +-0.05 khz. How ? can you help me video tutorial ? THANKS !!! Viper funk i watch all videos y not found. good day . friend.-
Looking to do this with my 1210 mk5's. I would like +10% instead of +8 but will this screw up my center pitch and throw it off? Mine doesn't have the center click but I want to make sure when I'm in the center pitch it reads 0" again. thanks for any help
It's not so much a mod as a recalibration. Yes you can do it easily. I'm pretty sure you can go to crazy speeds like +20% or more but you'll have less fine tuning, and I your minus speeds will be the opposite so only -6% if you do +10% - I might be wrong there - I've never actually done it, I always fix it up to be factory calibration
K, Yeah I think I'll just try to test this out. +8 pitch adjustment is very outdated as newer turntable now have +10% or higher. I use Serato and have Pitch N' Time but being limited to only +8% pitch adjustment really doesn't help so the plugin is kind of useless.
I refuse to put a mark on both the blue knob AND the circuit board... I choose to only put one mark on the blue knob and align it with that black thingy ma jiggy next to it. :P
How can a pitch range change unless people are like many dj's said back then , people not respecting their materials others doing stupid stuff like standing on the platter itself or stuff . Then wannabe pretenders who thinks there needs to reparations eveywhere . The only changes to do with a Technics SL-1200's is adding oil to the rotor and thats it . If your pitch is malfuntioning it means it isn't a pure manufactured turntable since start and has been cheated or hacked .

Awesome video! Very informative and helpful - solves my hesitation to go for a pair of 1200 MKII's.
Wicked bruv, I didn’t know about the -3 / + 3 aspect. That’s well handy. U da man!!! Thanks.

excellent! thank you for your time and for the detailed video.
Best video i ever seen as for your taste in music for that matter.
ITS FOKING WICKED :DDDDDDD
Hey James, would you advise the +/- 12? Or +/- free pitch range? Wouldn't that distort the mixing technique a bit?
Are you sure that it increase to +12 and -12 and not only +12 and -8?
Hi James, thumps up yet one more time.
I replaced my pitch fader & adjusted the pitch range faster than you can say "blueberry pie" :)
Thank you so much🙏🏻
Thank you very much Viperfrank!!It helped me a lots!!Peace.

I'm not sure but I think you actually need to replace the pitch fader for one without the lock.
@@abrupt_oliver Not on a mk2. He’s talking about the quartz lock pitch fluctuation around zero.

With the 1210 Mk2's when you adjust the pitch as shown does the mid point stay at the same speed or not?

Is it possible for a Technics 1200Mk2 and a Technics 1210mk2 to have the same pitch range and not go offbeat?
Will the zero point still be zero?
Yes, on a technics 1210/1200 the zero position is 'quartz locked' and will always be zero no matter what you do. :)

Yes just a few screws and a connection plug. You will probably have to calibrate it tho. Which will require a multimeter and a youtube how to video.
