Bleu, I had my first medical coding interview last week and I just found out that I got the job! Your videos on resume tips and interview tips are what prepared me for the big interview. And your tough love about studying hard with no laziness or excuses was just what I needed to gain confidence with coding. The position I scored is for Pro Fee coding and even though I'm not certified yet, they are going to train me and give me 6 months to get certified. I'll be seeking the CCS credential and I've already finished the online AHIMA course. Thanks again for the education, tough love and encouragement!
I just had an interview on Tuesday at a local Community Health Care Clinic. I was interviewing for Patient Service Specialist. Basically, a get my foot in the door position to starting building office experience and to build upon the skills I've learned while I'm studying for my CCA exam. When I arrived and met my interviewer, she offered a handshake that was a dead fish. I grasped her hand firmly and shook it. She appeared to have a slightly shocked look on her face. I'm wondering, was it due to the firmness of my handshake? Or, was she not quite as confident? Did I intimidate her with my firmness? My interview went really well. If I am not offered this position, as least I will be able to walk away with things that I learned and observed. Things that I can work on... like controlling my hands. Yes, I'm a hand talker. 😁😁😁🤣😂 Great video, Bleu. You have given me some things to improve upon.

Did you get the job?
Is it appropriate to shake hands before or only after the interviewer makes the first gesture?
Handshakes are perfectly acceptable at any point before or after an interview. You can make the first move. Best thing is not to overthink it.
