That intro deserves a standing ovation, I literally just got back from seeing Doctor Strange 2 so the timing couldn't have been better. I do feel like the NECA April as the Bride could've maybe used a bit more dark paint on the face, just compare it to the box artwork and I feel that image has a better look to it with the makeup around the eyes and cheekbones. As you said though it would maybe have lost the whole 'April as the Bride' idea since by that point it could just pass for an alternate design of the original Bride of Frankenstein character. Still, it looks good, honestly it gives me slight Bride of Re-Animator vibes, especially with the rats. I also relate to your older collecting tactic of avoiding the section I was there for and instead look at other ones, then see if there was something else in case what I was looking for wasn't there, that way the trip would be worth it even if I didn't find what I came for.

She said that they find orphans... Behind baby dolls; behind mirrors; inside trashcans, & tubs. ...all I could think to say was, "That's better than shoplifting! Amirite..." She answers with a laugh... Mantra: always leave 1 on the peg for the next 1
I’m definitely somewhat superstitious when I’m hunting, I walk in holding my fingers crossed for about 20 seconds I go into the aisle and I pretty much had scan every single peg. To me there’s nothing better than finding the figure you want it at the back hidden behind generic peg warmers. I swear the thrill of the hunt is seven times better than the actual figure itself
I used to be big on the hunt, the thrill of the find, but as I've gotten older and online ordering is a much bigger thing I'm okay with just moseying when I get the chance. Still cool to find something on the peg every now and then.

Double checks have paid off many times for me. Sometimes you find the figure you're looking for in an odd place, like someone was hiding it or someone had second thoughts and just sat it down somewhere. Craziest find in an odd place was TF 2007 movie Arcee in the magazine rack. That was a happy day. It's a damn good figure and that figure was rare, at least in our area.
On your retro-reflections on the store stuff.....I remember back in the day, long, LONG ago, when my one local Walmart would actually restock the toy department. It's been so long now, I've seen the same Snake-Eyes-movie figures on the shelf so much, I think they all recognize me.

I don't do a whole lot of Black series, but I couldn't pass up the Rebels Crew. However they never did a Grand Inquisitor. I really hope they'll do some more Inquisitors with the release of the Obi Wan series.
Whenever entering a big box store I always say "Let's see what they DON'T have". I still hunt every day. I also do the double walk through. I've found a few thing I missed that way.
I was never much of a hunter myself. My first stint as a collector started because I worked at Toys R Us. My boss wouldn't let employees cherry pick boxes off the truck but still my hunts were usually at my store and occasionally Walmart. Eventually I went back to school and gave up collecting. Flash forward to 2018 where Neca's movie turtles sucked me back in. But the idea of going to a bunch of stores hunting for toys seemed foreign to me (still does). Ordering online just seems like the way to go to me.

I just got my Mumm-Ra super 7 pre order in it was the set delayed due to covid. And I have no room anymore so I have to be very picky on who I purchase now of days.
I got off work, went to Walmart for a febreeze plug-in, picked “wood” scent…. then I went to the toy aisle & ended up getting my 2nd fortnite figure the deluxe swol cat man guy- yeah weight set, knives, guns this thing is crazy. But that febreeze Wood scent the real mvp.
I wouldn't call it superstitious, but I usually go through the action figure isle at least 2 or 3 times. There were numerous occasions where I missed things on my first pass through.

So excited to get a new Obi-Wan figure. It's not my favorite outfit but I love his look for the new series. Just hints of the Jedi outfit but not enough that he's not just wearing a uniform. Reminds me of that figure of Obi-Wan with the sleeves ripped off and wearing the clone armor pieces as a backpack.

You should try shopping for action figures in the UK, if you don't go to a specialist store, which is pretty much just Forbidden Planet over here then you don't have a chance. You have no chance of finding anything in a supermarket. If you don't get it online, then you don't get it lol.
