Right there with you but it was college ✊🏼 Part of the soundtrack of both our lives man. Remember so vividly where I was in life when this album first dropped. Smoking bowls in my tinted window jeep Cherokee that I bought off a part time drug dealer real cheap, my peeps would pile in, MMLP in the CD player, speaker knocking so hard it shook the jeep at stop lights, all of us cruising to Taco Bell in between classes. It’s a wonder we all graduated actually 😂 Seems so long ago now. Probably cause it really was.
Eminem does this a lot, he rhymes every other sentence. So when he says "Let the X destroy your spinal cord, till it’s not a straight line no more Till we walk around looking like some wind up dolls Shit sticking out of our back like a dinosaur" He’s rhyming straight line no more with dinosaur but the way he words things it seems like everything rhymes.
Also in that part, he's using a muliti syllable rhyme and makes almost everything rhyme. spi-nal-cord/ line-no-more/ di-no-saur and then wind-up rhymes with the first 2, but dolls doesnt quiet rhyme. I think if he would have wrote this exact few lines sometime in the last few years, he would have distorted dolls a little more and made it rhyme a little better. Still though. This song is fire and the first still amazes me every time we he flips into the women in pink linen scheme. It's just such a smooth transition.
@@smalltrashman4227 I'm guessing you didn't get the comment which is fine, He's saying that straight line No more and like a dinosaur already rhyme but the way he says the whole part makes wind up dolls sound like it rhymes with it too.
Probably my absolute favorite song of his. Love the message (very anti-sustance abuse but realized kids make short term choices) and the word play, and the swagger of the beat gets me every time. Keep the reacts coming!
He breaks down syllables and then slightly alters the way he enunciates shit and gives your ear the illusion that it rhymed. Its clever as hell and I think he was probably the first rapper who was doing that
And everything's spinnin', you're beginnin' to think women Are swimmin' in pink linen again in the sink, then in A couple of minutes that bottle of Guinness is finished You are now allowed to officially slap bitches, crazy how he rhymed all that
I used to love this song in my early 20's I remember driving high as hell rapping every word to this lol man these reactions are a straight up time machine for me because so much of my early adulthood was a lot of fun and memories and em , Dre , 50 was the soundtrack of my life then
Proabaly one of the first rap songs I could rap word for word. I remembered other songs Bone thugs and Pac at the time, but couldn't rap them. I was like 15
The "wind up dolls/dinosaur" question is a technique he uses a lot where the rhyme is not based only on phonetic sound but instead is based on rhythmic mimicry. So he takes the words and mirrors them by by stressing the first and last syllable in the word pair "windup dolls" to match rhythmic inflection on the first syllable of "Dinosaurs".But then he disrupts it a little bit by stretching the final syllable to just a little bit longer than we would in speech. This creates a double mimicry that we then hear as phonetic rhyming. He aids that by phonetically influencing the final syllable in "dinosaurs" so that is less of a closed "oh" sound and more of an open "o" or "aw" sounds. Thats why he is the king- he understands syllabic rhythm and manipulation better than anyone else can.
Been my favorite album since 2000 my order is 1) I'm Back 2) Criminal 3) Kill You 4) The Way I Am 5) Stan 6) Remember Me 7) Drug Ballad 8) Marshall Mathers 9) Who Knew 10) Bitch Please II 11) Kim 12) Real Slim Shady 13) Under the Influence 14) Amityville.... I'll put that top 10 against any albums top 10 ever.
@@kingdingaling413 Bitch Please doesn't even make the top 10! Insane any other album that's a top 3. I went back and forth on 9-11 but what songs in the top 10 does Kim bump off the list? He does have dance beats. Its just few and the words ain't always good to place in clubs all the time as you know why lol. Also for fun: Wi-dup-dol /Di-no-sur Just breaking down sounds alone is already hard 😂 writing lyrics is easy but a lifetime to master

Hey guys. I just wanted to say I've been watching your channel for a while now and I find it really uplifting when I'm down (which is a lot of the time). You both have a very friendly demeanor and great smiles. Stay cool 🙂
Listened to another reaction of this song. And when he said "this ecstasy got me standing next to you" they paused and asked what ecstasy was. Eventually concluding that it must be X. And I've never felt older
"But in the long run these drugs are probably gonna catch up sooner or later but fuck it I'm on one" Those lines aged well knowing he OD'ed years later and almost died.
He makes them rhyme because he's rhyming syllables wind-up-doll di-nah-sore They almost have the same emphasis and pauses how he says them When said with the right cadence to the beat it gives the illusion that the whole shit rhymes. It's why him and so few others are so damn good
If you haven’t Bad Meets Evil by Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 (from the Slim Shady LP album) is dope. And after that they also have Fast Lane which is low key a gem
I'm glad to see that you're doing other music on your channel as well. Just like you said. It's your channel. Not anybody else's so do what you want to do. I'm glad that you are at least addressing the whole lack of m&m videos though. Because I remember at one point you said you were doing three to five Eminem videos a day then I think it was two to four and then one to two. And now it's one once in awhile. Which is fine. I'll be honest I usually more or less tune in for the Eminem reactions. And will continue to pop by when I see a new Eminem reaction. Glad to see your channel is growing. Keep up the good work guys. I was around when you guys had a lot less subscribers. Makes me happy to see people who work hard and are dedicated get some sort of recognition and their channel actually grows. Take it easy.
