- A basic rundown on how I do a coil-split with an awesome Stratocaster. I also show you how to identify the wiring on a 4 wire humbucker.

Which coils is active in the split humbucker? inner or outer?
Sorry mate, I missed this comment. On this one the inner coil is active.
Would love to see a close up step by step wiring video of the process
I have a wiring video coming so hit the bell notification so you don't miss it.
Nice! Did you wire it up to automatically split the humbucker in position 4 or is the split solely from the push pull pot? I've done a hss build with the humbucker split in position 4 to still retain somewhat of the original SSS strat tone in that position. I'm planning another hss build with a push push pot for splitting. I'm wondering if in position 4 humbucker+middle single coil would yield a good tone. Thanks!
Oh man sorry I missed this comment. Yea the split happens only if the pot is up. If it is down you get H+S. I like the sound of the H+S it is kinda jangly with the warm undertone. Best thing to do is just play around with it. Everyone likes different sounds. Looking back at this vid I completely destroyed the sound of this guitar with reverb and delay. lol.
Great vid keep it up
Thanks man. More to come. Let me know if there is something you want to learn to do. 😁
the thing with orange drop is this - they do not loose any capacitance as time pases , they als run exactly what they are rated at . even if it says 10% tollerance check and od with your meter you will see it is spot on what is rated at . they are consistant . now if there is anything more to it , i am not sure .. but everything else i stated i know is true so ... i am certainly not an expert .
Correct, they don't fade with age like paper and oil, maybe because the old ones leak is why some people like their sound... It is also important to get the polarity correct on orange drops. I didn't mention it in the video but the lead soldered to ground should be the one that is the foil shield. :)
@@RisingSunGuitarMods If you're talking about installing them in your guitar's tone circuit, it doesn't matter how they're oriented.
@@peteytwofinger sounds like an experiment coming. I was under the impression if the shielded leg is to the hot terminal then it can introduce extra noise. But I’ve never compared this. So I reckon I might have to do some playing around.
nice job, but a lot less reverb on the soundcheck would have been nice mate
Fair call. 👍
heyy i have a few questions regarding the wirings where can i reach you out? im really having a hard time
Find me on Facebook and shoot me a message: @RisingSunGuitarMods this is a hobby at this stage so may take a little while for me to get back to you. :)
