It's mentioned on the Inside Conan podcast at least twice that show writer/actor Andres du Bouchet built the Lego set (including the most recent episode, as of this comment). Harrison will be promptly punished by the podcast staff for this grave error.

I've been trying to tell a friend that that incident was fake/scripted, for years. lol So thank you for helping me finally prove that to him, Harrison.
Jordan Schlansky said in an interview that it wasn't actually his Millennium Falcon. And one of the crew did put it together, not Jordan. But they didn't specially purchase the Falcon, it was already the crew members Lego model that crew member had put together. The writers had the idea about destroying the model not too long before the interview appeared, and there wasn't time to buy and put one together. The crew member volunteered his own model that he himself owned and put together.
Obviously, since this is Lego, he was able to put it back together again. And now he had one on national TV and signed by Harrison Ford himself.
You would think the very over the top throwing of the ship into the air, followed by a quick "Shucks!" would have been a tell 🤣
@@jeffreyharris3440 Lego is pretty durable so there may be some dings here and their, but I bet most 99.99% of the parts are not broken. That crew member probably appreciates it more now, then anything, because it has legit Han Solo wear and tear to it. 😃

This was probably the best episode of the podcast. They are all great but wow... Harrison Ford was on fire.
I know this is probably irrelevant, but Matt Gourley has a podcast (shocking, right?) where he talks about James Bond - the podcast is pretty old, going on 11 years now, but it is one of my favorites and I re-listen to it regularly.
In the first episode covering Dr. No, Matt Gourley and co-host Matt Mira (from Nerdist, G4, writer on @midnight and others) were talking about old film contracts and they segue into Matt Mira talking about how he just interviewed Harrison Ford for the Nerdist podcast.
Again this was back in 2012-ish, and it wasn't like, a HUGE thing, but clearly Matt Gourley was a fan of both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. So to see after all this time an arguably better version of that interview with Gourley in the hot seat brings me great joy.

Harrison Ford destroying that LEGO Millennium Falcon and almost falling off his chair, so over the top was his acting, was one of the funniest skits Conan has ever done! Harrison is a childhood hero of so many of us. A great actor and an unbelievably funny person. Everything he touches turns into gold. Except for Jordan's Millennium Falcon.

Superb actor that he is, Harrison just looks surprised and lobs it backward over his head for maximum destruction and comedic effect.
It was as if someone handed him a live hand grenade.

Exactly! 🤣 And afterwards Harrison really milks the situation by stating "That's bad!" in a slightly startled but smiling kinda voice, and the whole thing gets bow-tied with him throwing Jordan's pen after him. "Here's your pen!" Oh my god, J. J. Abrams couldn't keep himself together at all!
The funniest part was him angrily tossing the marker back at Jordan.

Oh god, I could barely hold it together through these interviews with Harrison Ford. One of my all time favourite actors, insanely talented turns out to be an insanely funny straight man. The closer where he comments on Conan’s imitation of him is just so well timed, so dry and so funny. I was doubled over with laughter when he dealt Conan that insult. 😂
I mean anyone could tell that the Jordan bit was scripted due to Ford's phenomenal acting job while dropping the Millenium Falcon 🥲

Thank you for posting all these videos. I listened to the whole podcast, and seeing all of it on video just elevates it to maybe being my favorite episode of the podcast ever.
I still can't believe so many people thought that bit with Jordan was real. It's so obviously scripted from beginning to end lol.
Im only now learning that there were, in fact, people who thought that thing was real. Its absolutely shocking to me.
Maybe many of those people are on the spectrum. There's more of that than one might think. My ex is on it, and she's oblivious to sarcasm/irony and the likes most of the time. It's a shame that many people don't get sarcasm, cause it's mostly the only language I speak 😅
Most of us could tell the fake drop was scripted. What I've believed plausible for years is that Jordan built it. Was a slightly surprised I never heard Conan reveal that part. What a cool way to learn the whole story!
It's way funnier if the audience "think that it's real" like conan says about magician, it's entertaining to watch until you know their secrets. I can understand why Conan kept that to maintain the illusion, now the bit was less funnier than before at least for some, but for me i think it's still hilarious fake or not.
I actually think it's funnier that way anyway. The ridiculously hammy way Harrison "drops" the Falcon cracks me up every time.

Harrison Ford's desire to do comedy reminds me of the great Leslie Nielsen. A serious actor for so many years that switched to comedy, with Airplane, Police Squad, The Naked Gun, etc.

I'm frankly glad that he clarified it was a scripted bit. I've always hated, or at least cringed with mortification, at humor like that, namely pranks at innocent people's expense. That Jordan was in on it actually makes it funnier for me, as I can now enjoy the performance without feeling bad for the victim!
If something like that wasn't scripted, you'll know. That would have been a PR disaster if it was real. You'd have seen Ford being grilled for it somewhere, or he'd have apologized or something.
Think Will Smith's slap. I know breaking the lego set was not on the same level as physical assault, but the speechless wouldn't have been accompanied by comedic timing as easily.
Lots of indicators when unscripted rude gestures happen.
The only scripted assault I can think of personally has involved Andy Kaufman. He was another level lol

Shrinking is such a good show whole cast is stellar and it’s amazing that in this day and age with how the ever changing evolving film/TV format had completely blended and innovated we get to actually witness talents like his or many others l especially older stars still be able to showcase their skills in various formats, they themselves would have never even considered possible 10 or 15 years ago.Streaming platforms becoming the main source of that industry viability definitely changed all that.

I just wanna say I love Conan O'Brien so much, and this clip fully demonstrates every reason why. I'm aware a LOT of people love him, but I truly think he is one of the most underrated comedians of all time. He's one of the best of ALLLLLLLLLLLL time... He would be humble and sincere if you told him this, and he would deny it. But he really is. Treasure every moment of this man...
This was by a very long way my favourite episode of Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, and I really enjoy the show as a whole. It's clear Ford likes being with Conan and can relax and just have fun with him. I'll have to watch Shrinking now because it's pretty clear after listening to this episode Ford has a great wit and knows how to do comedy.

I have not laughed this hard watching an interview since Robin Williams or Don Rickles was on Carson and their energy just took over everything. Nothing short of pure magic.

Conan was always ahead of the game I feel. He always gave his guests more room without inserting himself too much, even if it was on a scripted show, and now he really blossoms even more on this podcast where everything is just real and not fake. Harrison's comedic schtick reminds me a lot of Mac's mom on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I could only imagine an episode where Mac finds out she's dating someone again, Mac gets pissed because he always holds out hope his parents will get back together (despite all evidence to the contrary), then he finds out it's Harrison Ford and is excited but conflicted and both he and the gang wonder how his mom could bag Harrison Ford (though Mac tries to defend his mom even when deep down he realizes she's not exactly someone a massive celebrity would be with), but then he meets Harrison and he's essentially a male version of his mom.
This episode needs to happen. Lol.

Sona's eruptions of laughter are incredibly endearing. Often people's Sona obsession is a bit odd to me (not that I don't like her - I'm not a monster!) but she does add a lot with her obvious enjoyment of the various ridiculous(ly funny) comments in this Conan/Harrison jamboree.
Matt's reaction to Conan attempting to become the new Harrison Ford cracks me up. The horror! The horror!

I only found the show on RUclips. Being partially deaf, the closed captioning and video is a boon.

In that same youtube video, I quoted a starwars article that proved the bit was scripted and that it wasn't Jordan's millennium falcon (it was Andrés du Bouchet, writer and frequent bit actor most known as a camerman in bits), yet people still tried to give legitimate arguments of how it was real and Jordan's. Thank you for clearing it up, Harrison.
All the Jordan Schlanski stuff is hilarious. But the Millennium Falcon bit was the most funniest followed by the Lavaza brewer.
